"Do be careful tonight Buffy" I have been translating a new book, and tonight is some sort of magical night. Vampires aren't overactive, but strange things could happen. I don't have the exact translation down yet." said Giles as Buffy left to patrol.

"Could you be anymore vague? Why don't you worry when you actually know what you should be worried about?" she teased him. Giles didn't know it, but she didn't plan on being out long, she was to go to Angels. He was cooking for her.

She changed into a tank top and some tight jeans, threw on Angels leather jacket and went to the cemetary. Giles was right, it was kind of quiet. She played with her yoyo, when she heard a sound on the roof of a small mausoleum. She quietly crept up behind the mausoleum and sprinted to the roof. A red haired vampire faced her.

"Hello, Slayer" he said menacingly as he charged towards her. They fought, with both of them falling off the roof of the mausoleum to the hard ground below.

Buffy woke up with a headache, she felt the lump on the back of her head and frowned. "Whoa, that hurts she thought to herself. Where is that vamp?" she then looked around. "Whats going on here?" she said out loud.

It was suddenly daylight, where it had been dark. She was lying in a green pasture, she had mud on her clothes. She also had no clue where she was. She continued to look around and said under her breath "We're not in Kansas anymore"

She stood up and noticed a man a little ways off, he appeared to be plowing a field with a horse. He seemed familiar, he noticed her and stopped the horse. He walked towards her, as he got closer, Buffy sat shakily down. She recognized him.

The dark haired man came closer, it couldn't be, but it was. It was broad daylight and Angel was walking towards her. He was dressed in work clothes and a jacket, very old fashioned. He hesitantly smiled at her, he was staring. "Thats not very nice, I'm a little dirty, but still" thought Buffy to herself.

"Where are we? Whats going on, Angel?" she asked as he offered his hand to help her up.

"You are in Galway, Ireland milady. The name is Angelusnot Angel" he said in an Irish accent. "Angelus O'Rourke at your service." and he bowed.

Buffy stared at him "I've lost it, I have joined Dru, in neverneverland."

"Let me help you there. Whats a nice lass like yourself doing in my fathers pasture? Where are your clothes?" He asked staring at her bare arms in the tank top.

"Don't you recognize me?" she asked him hoping he would remember.

"No, I would remember somebody as pretty as yourself." he said charmingly. He took off his jacket and wrapped it around her shoulders. "There that will cover you until we find you something. Where are you from?"

"Thanks for the jacket. I'm from a long way from here." answered Buffy. She desperately needed to make him remember, and she needed a bath in the worst way.

"Oh well that explains your clothes and your way of speaking" he said to her smiling.

"He is very charming" she thought to herself.

"How can I help you?" he asked her.

"I need a bath badly, and some clean clothes" she answered. Then to herself "and to figure out how I got here."

"Follow me, my parents and sisters are visiting my Grandfather. My older brothers and I are left to tend the farm. I'm not sure how to explain you to my brothers. Do you mind waiting in the barn? I'll get you some bath water and some clothes." he asked as he led her to a big barn.

"I can wait here, no worries." she told him as she looked around the barn.

"You do speak strangely" he said as he took her up in the loft. "Make yourself comfortable, it may be a little while before I can get back."

Angelus O'Rourke walked back to the house. He wondered about the strange girl in the barn. Maybe she was a witch, he wasn't sure of anything, he just felt drawn to help her. "I didn't even ask her name" he silently cursed himself.

"Angelus is there a reason that you only plowed three quarters of that field?" asked Patrick, his oldest brother.

"Something came up" Angelus replied smartly.

"Something always comes up between you and work. What will become of you?" said Patrick not hiding the anger in his voice.

Patrick then added "I guess I'll go milk that cow and feed the animals." He picked up his jacket to go.

"No, no Patrick. Your right I am lazy. I'll milk and feed tonight" said Angel as he hurried to the barn.

Darby, Angelus' other brother walked in. "Did I see Angelus going to the barn?" he asked.

Patrick looked at him "Don't faint, but he offered to milk and feed tonight."

Darby laughed, "Is he running a fever?"

Patrick joined in his laughter. "We'll wait on him and see if he wants to go into town for a bite to eat and an ale."

Angelus got to the barn "Miss, um Miss, I'm sorry I don't know your name" he called up to the loft.

"It's Buffy" she said as she looked down from the loft.

"Buffy, what kind of name is that?" he thought to himself.

"Well, Buffy. I have to feed these animals and milk this cow, then I can get rid of my brothers and get you a bath and some food." He sat down on a low stool and began to milk the cow.

Buffy watched in amazement, Angel was milking a cow, like it was something he did everyday. She had to figure out a way back home.

He filled the bucket, then fed the animals. "I'll be back shortly." he said as he closed the barn door.

"Okay, he still doesn't have a clue who I am. And he definitely belongs here. What has happened?"

Angelus took the milk back to the house. Patrick asked him "Do you want to go to the Inn and have dinner and a pint with us?"

Angelus replied "Not tonight, I don't feel up to it."

"Ah, you worked too hard today!" teased Patrick.

"No, he really does have a fever!" Darby joined in the teasing.

"Okay, little brother. You get some rest for that hard days work ahead of you in the morrow." said Patrick as he and Darby left for town. Angelus put some water on to boil for Buffys bath. He pulled out the tub and started adding some cool well wather to it. He went out to the barn. "Its safe now, you can come in" he shouted up to her.

Buffy climbed down from the loft and followed him to the house. He led her to the kitchen, she immediately noticed the big tub there. He poured the boiling water into the cool water already in the tub. He handed her a rough looking bar of soap and got her a towel. Buffy started to undress.

Angelus looked shocked and turned the other way. Buffy smiled to herself, he had seen her nude before. She forgot that the didn't remember. She could have sworn he was blushing. "I'll wait in the other room while you bathe. I'll get you one of my sisters dresses."

Buffy sat in the warm water, the soap didn't smell very good, but it did work very well. She got out of the tub and wrapped the towel around her. "I'm ready" she called.

Angelus came into the room keeping his eyes averted from her. He handed her a dress and some underthings. He left and she figured out where everything went. "They sure wore a lot of underwear" she thought.

"If your dressed, I would like to clean up a bit myself" called Angelus from the other room.

"Okay, come on in" said Buffy sweetly.

"You look lovely, like a real lady" he said approvingly.

He then took off his shirt, and dampened a cloth with the warm water. Buffy stared at his bare back, there was no tatoo. There was no demon yet, no Darla. He was simply Angelus O'Rourke. She smiled at him. "She's not embarrassed by anything" he thought to himself as he returned the smile.

Buffy looked at him trying to decide what to tell him, "Angelus, I am from the future, your future. I am not sure how I got here.

"I am quite sure that if I live to be 80, the females will not dress or act like you do. You can't be in my future, I could never live that long." he said skeptically.

"Oh, Angel, please just trust me on this." She said with a touch of sadness, there was no sense in explaining how he lives that long to him.

"Okay, I will try to trust you. But I need some more information. What do you last remember of your time in the future?" he asked her.

"I was fighting with a vamp... a really bad guy. We both fell and then I woke up in your pasture." She explained.

"Thats quite a story, but if you believe it, then I will try to. When you figure out how I can help, let me know. I've got to get you back into the loft now, Darby and Patrick will be back soon. I'll get you a blanket and you can sleep up there. I'll come back to check on you."

He got to the house and straightened the kitchen up. Patrick and Darby showed up. "Feeling better, little brother?" asked Darby.

"Not really, I'm feeling sick to my stomach. I think I'll go sleep in the barn. So I won't disturb you two." he said as he went to the door.

"Whatever you feel like, but you will be working come morning!" said Patrick with a smile.

On his way out the door Angelus was startled by a strange red-haired man. The man asked "Have you seen a blond girl, she speaks strangely and dressed very immodestly?"

Darby and Patrick joined Angelus at the door. Together they said "No, we haven't seen anyone like that."

"And have you seen her" he directed the question to Angelus.

Angel shook his head no. "Who is she?"

"It doesn't matter who she is. I just need to find her." he said nastily. He rode off into the darkness on a black horse.

Angelus was worried now, he needed to warn Buffy. He climbed into the loft, Buffy was shaking. He hesitantly put his arm around her she pulled closer to him.

"Whats wrong? You look like you've seen a ghost." he asked her gently.

"That was him thats the man I was fighting with in the future. I don't know what has happened!" she had fear in her voice.

"I'm sorry to tell you, but he's looking for you. He gave a perfect description. I'm going to stay in here with you tonight." he pushed a stray hair out of her face. She was beautiful even if she did turn out to be crazy.

The present - Sunnydale

Angel paces back and forth in his apartment. "Its 10 pm, where is she?" he asks himself frantically. He grabs his jacket to go look for her. He scribbles a note for her,

Buffy stay here! Please be here when I get back.

Love, Angel

He goes to the cemetary to look for her. At first he sees no sign of her but he notices some flowers turned over by a mausoleum and goes to investigate. A stake lies on the ground, next to it is his leather jacket, the one he gave Buffy. Where is she?"

Giles answers his door to a frantic Angel. "Whats wrong?" he asks immediately. Angel fills him in. Giles worried himself tries to reaasure him that Buffy will be okay. He explains about some time travel magic that can happen tonight, but he doesn't have all the particulars figured out yet.

"How do we know if this happened? And how do we get her back?" Angel asked miserably.

Giles looked at him unhappily and sighed "I don't know Angel, I just don't know."

In a barn in Galway, Ireland, the year 1752.

Angelus held the girl Buffy in his arms until she fell asleep. He gently lay her down and covered her up. He lie down beside and fell asleep. When the first light came, he woke to find her cuddled against him. He wasn't complaining but it was not proper behavior. He turned to face her.

She opened her eyes and smiled at him, forgetting for the moment where she was. She saw Angel laying next to her, she put her hand on his cheek and pulled him towards her, gently kissing his lips. Angelus was shocked by the behavior but gave into the kiss. He couldn't help himself.

"Top of the morning to you, too" he smiled and teased her.

She realized then where she was. "I'm sorry, I fogot you don't remember me." she tried to explain the kiss.

"Do we do that often in this future of yours?" he asked slyly.

She laughed softly "As a matter of fact we do!"

"This future sounds very rosy then" he smiled back at her.

"I need to figure out how to get back there." said Buffy in a soft voice.

"Well, I've got work to do, I'll leave you to your thinking, and I'll bring you some breakfast." he said as he climbed down from the loft.

He came back with food soon. He smiled and told her where he would be if she needed him. Buffy ate and thought about her problem. She didn't have a clue what to do. She decided to join Angel in the field, she did enjoy seeing him in daylight! She thought for a moment that she could possible stay here with him forever, she could prevent him from ever changing and they could live happily. Of course they would have no electricity or running water or... The future wasn't such a bad place thought Buffy. And she knew that the future was in place she couldn't change it.

Angelus smiled as he saw Buffy walking towards him, she had a pitcher of water with her. She offered him a cool drink. He gladly accepted and stopped plowing.

"Can I help?" she asked him.

"Well, a wee thing like yourself shouldn't be doing manual labor" he answered her.

"But I want to help, you've been so kind" she said smiling at him.

"Well, I guess you could pick up some of these rocks and pile them over there, but don't strain your little self." He smiled at her.

"Don't strain myself!" Buffy laughed to herself, he doesn't know who he is dealing with. She lifted the rocks easily and soon had a large pile. Angelus looked on in shock. They worked all afternoon side by side, stopping only to take a lunch break.

That evening on the way back to the house, he turned to her. "Buffy I know you want to go home, but it that can't happen, do you think you could be happy here with me?" he asked her as he reached for her hand.

She accepted his hand in hers and looked up at him. "Angelus, my Angel, if people didn't depend on me so much in the future I could think of nothing better then staying here with you forever. But its not that simple.

"I understand" he said sadly. She looked at him and smiled then got up on her tiptoes to kiss him. He held her for a long time, just the two of them against the green of the Irish countryside.

Sunnydale - present day

Angel glared at Giles, "You have some studying to do. I'm going back to the cemetary to look for more clues."

"Quite right, I'm getting right on it. Angel, I am worried too." Giles said with concern in his voice.

Angel slammed the door on his way out. He went to the cemetary.

Galway, Ireland the year 1752

Angelus snuck supper into Buffy as he milked the cow and fed the animals. His brothers were amazed at the work he had accomplished today. "Maybe he is finally growing up!" said Patrick.

"My brothers are worried about me, I volunteered to milk and feed two days in a row." he laughed as he told Buffy. "I can't stay out here tonight, but here is my jacket for extra warmth. "Goodnight sweet Buffy" he said as he left the barn.

Angelus went back to the house and joined his brothers to talk about the next days work.

Buffy settled into an uneasy sleep, she was wearing Angelus' jacket it felt good, it felt like Angel. Well, it was Angel in a way, this was too confusing.

She heard him come in and sneak up the ladder. She knew immediately that it was a vampire. She jumped up to find the red headed one staring at her. "Now, Slayer its time to die!" Buffy was ready, they were precariously near the edge of the loft. She held a slender pieceof wood in her hand. As she plunged it into his heart they both sailed over the edge of the loft. Angelus heard something and ran to the barn in time to see Buffy fall over the loft edge and dissapear into thin air. He stood there not knowing what to think, had she even been real? He hoped so, he hoped she was right, that she was in his future.

Sunnydale present time

Angel turned the corner at the mausoleum in time to see Buffy falling from the roof. He ran to catch her in his arms and break her fall. She was covered with vampire dust. She looked up at him and smiled. He put her down and pulled her close.

"Are you okay? Do you know how worried I have been? Where were you?" he asked in one long question.

"I'm fine, its sweet that you worried, and you wouldn't believe me if I told you." she answered without taking a breath.

He then noticed her dress and the jacket she was wearing. "Where did you get that dress and that jacket?" he asked.

"You gave them to me." she answered.

"No, I gave you a leather jacket, I haven't owned a jacket like that in over 200 years." he replied.

"Angel or is it Angelus O'Rourke? You were a little bit lazy but very charming back then. A perfect gentleman. I don't know how, but I've been in the past with you." she smiled at him "I'll explain it all later, right now I need a hot bath and some nice smelling soap."

"Okay, okay, but we have to go by Giles, I was a little rough on him earlier." Angel said as he put his arm around her shoulder and they went to Giles apartment.

Giles answered the door relieved to see Buffy with Angel. "Thank heaven you are okay!" he said as he let them in.

"Buffy you scared me, where have you been?" he asked as he gave her a cup of tea.

"I was in 18th century Ireland with one Angelus O'Rourke!"

"What?" exclaimed Giles. "This is all very fascinating!"

"Can I explain later, when I've rested up?" she asked him.

On the way out Angel spoke to Giles, "I am sorry for being hard on you earlier. But where Buffys concerned, I get that way. I hope there aren't any hard feelings."

"No hard feelings Angel. You love her, its to be expected that you would, uh, whats Buffys word, you would wig over her dissapearance. Buffy had to smile at his use of the word "wig". She really did love Giles like a second father.

Angel took Buffys hand and they went back to his apartment. He ran a lovely bubble bath for her. He came into talk as she soaked under the bubbles.

"Why Angelus, you've become very forward in the last 200 years. Yesterday when I bathed you blushed." teased Buffy.

"Yesterday was the past, today is the present!" he said as he kissed

"I love you too." she said as he closed the door. "Its good to be back in the 20th century" she thought as she closed her eyes and sank deeper into the fragrant bubbles.
