Angel sat at his desk, feet propped up. The morning sun pouring through the large office window. He had a tenative smile on his face as he watched the people passing on the sidewalk.

Cordelia entered the room with a grin on her face, the sight of a human Angel was still a miracle to her. There was only one problem, he had regained his humanity three days ago and had yet to call the one person who should know about this miracle above the others. He had not called Buffy. He was hesitant, no he was out and out scared to tell her.

"So, Boss. When you gonna make that call to Sunnydale? Let a certain blonde in on your good news?" She asked cheerfully.

His tenative smile completely dissolved into a worried frown."Cordelia, I'm not ready."

"When do you think you might be? Cause you are aging now." She gave him a smile.

"I know, I know. But she's going to be angry that I never told her this could happen." He sighed deeply and leaned back in the chair.

"Well, yeah. She's gonna be angry. But I think I told you to tell her about 5 or so years ago. But she loves you and she'll forgive you. But you have to tell her."

"I should have told her then, but I never thought it would happen in her lifetime." He answered softly.

"Okay, do you still love her?" Cordelia asked pointedly.

"Of course, I still love her! How can you even ask me that?" His voice rose as he stood and grabbed his coat off the rack.

"Well think about that, you won't tell her the most important news of your life." Cordelia told him as he angrily walked out the front door.

Cordelia went back to her desk, with a sigh she picked up the phone and dialed.

Buffy was checking herself in the mirror one more time before leaving for her job at her Mom's gallery. She had majored in Art in college, and her Mom had hired knowing that she could be flexible with Buffy's slaying duties.

The phone rang as she was halfway out the door, sighing she ran back inside to answer it.

"Hello." She said hurriedly into the receiver.

"Hello, Buffy." Cordelia said softly.

"Cordelia? Is everything okay? Is Angel okay?" Buffy asked heavy concern in her voice.

"He's okay, Buffy. In fact, he's better then okay." Cordelia told her then filled her in the last few days events.

"I'll be there in a few hours. Oh, I'm not going to kill him Cordy. Just make him suffer a little. Uh huh...thanks for calling." Buffy hung up the phone then quickly picked it up and dialed her Mom letting her know she had to make a trip to LA.

She quickly threw a few things into a bag and headed for LA.

The closer Buffy got to LA the angrier she got. Why did he not call her with this news? Did he think she didn't have the right to know? Oh, another thought crossed her mind, maybe he didn't feel the same way anymore, maybe he had found someone else. NO! I would know if he had found someone else, I can still feel him. Her thoughts were jumbled as she parked her car outside of Angel Investigations.

She sat in the car for several minutes before going in to the office. Cordelia jumped up to meet her. "I am so glad you came." She gave Buffy a small hug.

"Where is he?" Buffy asked barely above a whisper.

"Up on the roof. He's thinking or brooding, basically it's still the same thing with him. Old habits die hard I guess." Cordelia pointed to the door that led to the roof.

Buffy walked straight to the door an odd mixture of excitement and a touch of anger on her face.

"Oh, Buffy." Cordelia called.

"Yes." She answered as she turned around.

"Don't be too hard on him, okay?"

Buffy nodded her head and went up the stairs.

She reached the roof in just a few minutes, she cracked the door open quietly. She peeked through the crack and saw his back he was sitting on the ledge looking out over the city. At the sight of him, sunlight shining down on him, all of her righteous anger dissappeared. All that mattered was that he was there, that he was human. She opened the door and it creaked slightly.

Angel had been sitting on the roof since returning from his walk. He was avoiding Cordelia, who thought she could understand what he was going through. He didn't even understand it. The sunlight felt good on his skin, it warmed his through and through. He'd forgotten how much he missed it. And now it was his to walk in, he should be ecstatic. Yet he knew his happiness would not be complete until he shared it with Buffy. He should go call her now.

The door opening made a small sound, he got down from the ledge and turned to investigate. His mouth dropped open when he saw Buffy coming towards him. She was beautiful, she was walking towards him a smile on her lovely face.

He'd imagined she would be angry, but she was smiling, and it looked like unshed tears were glistening in her hazel eyes. He couldn't help but smile back at her and then he began to walk towards her. They both quickened there steps and soon were inches apart, face to face.

"Hi." She said softly. lifting one hand to shyly rest it on his warm cheek.

"Hi." He answered back, there was lots of emotion in that one small word. He smiled as he felt her hand caress his cheek.

"When were you going to tell me?" She asked lowering her hand from his face.

"Actually, I had just decided that I should go in and call you now." He grinned at her.

"Well, I think news like this should be told in person, how about you?" She asked him raising her eyebrows and smiling.

"That's probably true." He agreed with her, taking one small hand in his and lifting it to his lips.

She sighed softly. "Well then, there's no time like the present. Tell me."

He laughed out loud and it was one of the most beautiful sounds Buffy had ever heard. "Buffy Anne Summers, love of my life, my soulmate, I am human."

She laughed softly as she wrapped her arms around him, his large arms pulling her closer to his chest. "I know, and it's wonderful." She murmured against his chest, tears of happiness wetting his shirt.

Buffy pulled back from his chest, wiped her eyes and lifted her face to his, he lowered his lips on to hers in a cautious, gentle kiss. She the kiss with a passion that had been long denied to both of them. Angel was soon immersed in the same passion.

And that was how Cordelia found them, entwined in a passionate embrace, they almost appeared to be one, so wrapped up in the other.

She smiled to herself and said out loud "This is how it's supposed to be." Then she closed the door and went back downstairs.

The End
