Buffy dropped her books and small, pink bag on the table in the kitchen, flopping down into one of the wooden, comfortable chairs at the table. Finally her long hours at the Hellhole were over. And she wasn't talking about fighting demons. School had been exceptionally hard today...maybe that was because of slaying she hadn't done any homework at all, and was totally clueless on the test today in chemistry. Buffy sighed and rubbed her head wearily. At least her mother wasn't home. Joyce had taken a three week trip to Chicago for the Art Gallery she owned. She had left yesterday. While Buffy had been a little sad to see her go, at least she would have the whole house to herself.
"Ahhhhhh...the remedy of non-parental prescence...it can do wonders for stress." Buffy elicited another sigh, although this one happier.
But this was all before Buffy remembered about Cordelia's little welcoming party this afternoon. Apparently, Cordy's older cousin William was coming to visit Sunnydale for a few weeks, from New York or something. He and Cordy had been great childhood friends, and since Cordy had become a good friend to the Scoobs, and present girlfriend of Xander, she had invited the Scooby group to a little welcoming bash at her house. In about an hour. Buffy groaned and bumped her head on the table. What was the use of an empty house if she wasn't even home to enjoy it?
**********
Buffy reclined on the satiny cushions on the couch in Cordelia's plush living room. Her cousin was coming any minute, and drinks had been served. Buffy had grabbed a champagne flute and settled on the couch to enjoy the atmosphere. Buffy wondered vaguely what this cousin would be like. Would he be cute? An arrogant asshole? Or total boyfriend potential and an absolute hottie who was conveniently single? Buffy closed her eyes and decided to not think at all as she tried to grab a quick nap. No one would notice...But at that moment, the doorbell rang, and Buffy's eyes snapped open. She groaned as she sat up, setting her glass down and standing up with the rest of her friends. Cordy bustled to the door. Buffy smoothed down her short black dress. Sounds of gushing and kissing could be heard from the doorway, and a deep male chuckle radiated into the living room. Buffy couldn't help but smile...especially when Cordy's cousin entered the room. Her first initial reaction was...wow.
Cordelia's cousin was actually a total hottie. He was about 5'10, with a very nice muscular build. His chest muscles moved under his snug dark blue shirt as he set down his suitcases. He had light brown hair, fairly short, that was lightly gelled. He had gorgeous angular cheekbones, and a perfect smile. But his eyes...his eyes captured Buffy's attention immediately. They were bright blue, and piercing. Obviously good looks ran in Cordelia's family. Buffy smiled as she was introduced, and tried to ignore the fluttering in her stomach, and her sudden temperature rise. The cousin's name was William, and he did indeed come all the way from New York. So not only was he gorgeous, he was extremely city-cool.
William smiled at everyone at the introductions, and his eyes lingered a little on Buffy. There was only one thing wrong with this cutie...he gave off a total snob vibe. But only Buffy seemed to notice as William chatted easily with Xander and Willow. He was a total charmer. She rolled her eyes. She was always so negative and paranoid. Blame it on the Slayer senses. Buffy resumed her seat on the couch and eyed Cordelia suspiciously, who was winking at Buffy across the room. Buffy narrowed her eyes as Cordelia flitted over to her innocently enough. But her words betrayed her innocence.
"So, Buff, see anything you like?" Buffy almost laughed. This was so like Cordy to try to set Buffy up with a total stranger that she had just barely met.
"Cordelia, your cousin just got here. And I don't need a boyfriend right now. I mean, I've got school, slaying duties, Mom..."
Cordelia waved her hand and brushed Buffy's words off. She opened her mouth to speak, but Buffy interrupted her before she could utter a syllable.
"Don't even try Cordelia. I'm going to get some more champagne."
Buffy threw Cordelia a look, got up and headed to the kitchen, almost laughing. But Cordelia had other ideas. A plan was already forming in her mind...
Buffy filled her glass in the spacious kitchen. She thought about what Cordelia had said. Hooking up with William wouldn't be too bad...
Buffy heard a rustle behind her and turned to find William sauntering in. He peered at her, and gave her a half smile. Talk about speaking of the devil. Well, actually, on the Hellmouth that could very well mean the truth, but, anyways...
"Cordy told me you would be in here. The little schemer has a plan for the two of us, I can totally tell."
His voice was deep, and a little tingle went down her spine.
Buffy smiled, but inside she was melting. He brought a little flush to her cheeks. She couldn't belive the effect he had on her. But his next words brought her back down to Earth.
"Well, you must be a special girl, then. Because I don't go for just anyone. Cordelia knows that. After all, I am a pretty special guy that can have any girl."
Buffy stopped to ask herself if he had just said what she thought he had. He couldn't have...what a total snob! He was a huge asshole, she was guessing. Buffy snorted and William looked at her in surprise.
"Obviously you think you're something your not. Please...you're no more special then I am an icky monster or something. Well, maybe except for the fact that your incredibly conceited and arrogant. Is that what you meant?"
Buffy spoke the words innocently, but William was outraged nonetheless. No one had ever spoken to him that way before. And he wasn't about to let a little fake blonde bitch tell him that. He stepped closer to her, a mean glint in his eye.
"Well, I can see that your the typical California bitch. I bet you think your special, right? You think that men should kiss your skanky ass. Well, that isn't me."
Buffy widened her eyes, and almost strangled him.
"Excuse me?" Buffy took a step closer, and he only laughed.
"You heard me. You are a fake blonde that think's she's all that with a low IQ. I bet your an easy lay, too!"
Buffy lifted her hand to slap him, he leering back at her, when Cordelia flounced in. She faked surprise at seeing the two of them together. But she backed off at the tension in the room. Buffy looked at her with anger in her eyes. She stalked out of the room, saying "Bye Cordy. I seem to have lost my sense of partying. Catch you tomorrow."
Without a backward glance at a still glowering William, who was in reality ashamed at his behaviour, Buffy was out the door, leaving a very curious Cordelia in the kitchen, one eyebrow raised at William.
**********
The next night found Buffy at the Bronze seated at a small table with Cordelia and Xander across from her, sipping drinks. Willow and Oz hadn't been able to come. Which meant that Buffy and Xander had to sit through another round of Buffy/William questioning. Buffy banged her head on the table repeatedly as Cordelia asked her the same question for the tenth time that hour.
"But I still don't understand why you had to be so mean to him. Why?"
Buffy lifted her head and looked tiredly back at Xander, who looked like he was ready for a good nap, his eyelids heavy, his head on his elbow.
"Because Cordelia, he said rude things to me. So me, doing the logical thing, said rude things back, allowing a balance in the once crazy and unbalanced world."
Cordelia rolled her eyes and scowled, but Xander grinned at Buffy. Suddenly, Cordelia brightened
up, and gave Buffy a toothy smile. Buffy looked back at her suspiciously. Something was up.
"Well, whatever, Buffy. But you should make up with him. And now's the perfect time to do it."
Buffy got a sinking feeling. She looked up to see William striding toward their table. He smiled sweetly and Cordelia and Xander, but his face darkened when he looked at Buffy. She could feel a scowl coming on her own face. Cordelia greeted William and told him to take a seat. He grumpily sat down, crossing his arms, taking the only chair left at the table, which happened to be right beside Buffy. He stared off at the dance floor as Cordelia practically burst right at the table. She pretended to look at her watch in surprise, then grabbed Xander's arm in fake horror.
"Oh my gosh, sweetie, we forgot about the thing we have to go to now. Remember, the thing?"
Buffy looked on in amusement as Xander scrunched up his face. Buffy had the sinking feeling this whole thing had been planned. And by the look on William's face she knew that he suspected it had been too.
"Cordy, what are you talking about? What thing? I thought we we hanging here."
Cordelia gave him a big, fake smile and dug her nails into his arm. But he still didn't get it. Sighing in exasperation she gave Xander a very passionate, open mouthed kiss. Buffy almost laughed out loud as Xander sputtered and said, "Oh, the thing! Yes, yes, the thing! We have to go now!"
Cordelia threw the silent pair across from her a suggestive look and gave an encouraging smile. She and Xander were gone in two seconds flat. Buffy crossed her arms also, and pretended not to be affected by those baby blue eyes...what shade of blue were they? It was like an azure blue, really bright and...oh, he looked positively yummy tonight...Her thoughts were interrupted by William.
"So, Buffy, have any more comments to throw at me tonight? Oh by the way, love the dress. It's so short and revealing, and oh look, it's red. Like that wasn't predictable. Not to mention skanky."
He sneered at Buffy, who was fuming in her seat. She wasn't going to answer, wasn't going to answer, wasn't going to...oh, what the hell.
"Well, Willy, that's great for you. Because what you like totally dominates my wardrobe choices. My only mission is to please you."
The two glared at each other, Buffy trying to resist those eyes, and those cheekbones...if he wasn't such an asshole, she probably would have jumped him by now. Bad thoughts, Buffy. William is...hot...no, no, no, can't think that...
Buffy's thoughts were destracted as she noticed two vampires on the dance floor, boogying with two human girls. The vamps were dressed in tacky 80's clothing, and were moving their girls toward the door. Obviously it was feeding time for the vampires. Time to roll. Buffy looked at William, who had been following her gaze. She watched him skeptically.Could he know about the vampires? Maybe...nah, now way. How could Willy New York know? Buffy stood up, and glanced at William before turning around. Throwing over her shoulder, though, before she left, she said "Bye Willy. I have to go...my, uh, friend is over there. Hopefully I don't see you around."
As Buffy stepped out of the door, William watched her thoughtfully from the table.
**********
Buffy walked outside, seeing no sign of the vampires. She shook her head at the sound of screaming and jogged around the corner to find the two vampires laughing while holding the girls by the throats, having a gay ole time.
"Well, boys, think I can join in?" Buffy gave a sweet smile as the vampires growled and faced her. The two girls quickly pulled away from their captors and were down the street in an instant.
"The Slayer..." said one vampire, the more grungy of the two. Buffy gave another smile, and as she ran forward, landing a good drop kick to the vamp, said "That's my name, don't wear it out!". Soon she had her hands full with both vampires. She got one lying on the floor and staked him quickly.
The other vampire attacked her before she could react, and she felt herself pushed to the floor. She stayed on the ground, woozy, hearing sounds of fighting. Why isn't the vampire attacking me? Buffy shook her head, then sat up to find William in front of her, stake in hand, ash pile beside him and cocky smile on his face.
"What the hell are you doing?" Buffy asked him angrily as she stood up, wiping herself off. She stalked toward the street, William chuckling behind her as he followed her, trying to catch up.
"Well, what do you mean? Some vampires needed staking, and I gave them some. I've fought vampires before, you know. The real question is why a girl like you is staking vampires, in the middle of the night, with no back up." Spike looked at Buffy questioningly as she stopped and crossed her arms over her chest, giving him a haughty look.
"Well, Willy, it's good to know your good for something." William cringed at the use of her nickname for him, but she payed no attention to it. She continued in the same tone.
"I'm a Slayer, a girl who is chosen to fight vampires and demons. Yada, yada, yada, di dum de do, and here we are. Yes, Cordelia knows. No, no one else except for my friends who do know too, and that old guy you met at Cordy's house is my Watcher. Giles. A Watcher is someone who trains the Slayer. And, no, I'm not lying. See you, um, how about never?" And with that, Buffy smugly walked down the street, leaving an extremely confused and pissed off William behind her.
**********
The next day at school, Buffy was telling Willow what had happened the night before. Willow was surprised to know that William had fought vampires before. It was strange to say the very least.
"So, what your saying is that William can actually help us kill demony things and stuff. That's good, right Buffy?" Willow asked carefully. She knew that Buffy and William disliked each other, and she didn't want Buffy snapping at her. But Buffy just calmy nodded, although she felt dislike rising in her stomach at the mention of Willy.
"Sure, I guess. But I have the feeling we won't be seeing to much of William. And he's probably to selfish to want to help us. After all, he is the world's biggest jerk."
Willow nodded as the two girls walked down the stairs. But then she stopped suddenly, and grabbed Buffy's arm.
" Uh, Buffy, not to make you get all wiggy or anything, but isn't that William down there, with Cordelia?" Buffy looked in surprise down the hall to find Cordelia holding William's arm, pulling him towards her, Cordelia seemingly struggling while doing so. Cordelia stopped in front of Buffy and Willow and gave them a perky wave. William just smiled smugly at Buffy, while Cordelia caught her breath.
"So, Buffy, William tells me he found out about your Clark Kent identity. He said he would actually like to help us with killing and researching the demons and stuff. Isn't that great?" Cordelia was too happy for Buffy's liking. And way to smiley.
"Sure, that's great. Really." Buffy rolled her eyes as she answered.
"Well, Buffy...since I saved your life yesterday I would think you would be more appreciative." William gave Buffy another smile, and Buffy nearly punched him out. She really, really, wanted too.
She gave him fake smile instead. "Well, William, if you say so. But, um, why the hell are you in our school? I thought you finished high school?" It was Cordelia who answered for him.
"Well, William doesn't mind if he spends time with me in school. He's going to come to my classes and everything. Isn't that great? And he can spend time with you too, and you two can eat lunch together, and walk to classes together, and tell each other about yourselves..."
Buffy and William looked in horror at Cordelia, both almost running away from the girl who was obviously crazy. Willow smiled inwardly. She didn't think that Cordelia was right, but at least school would be interesting the next couple of weeks.
**********
That afternoon, Buffy rushed to the library. Giles wanted all the Scooby's to meet in the library that afternoon. It was probably some new Big Bad in town. She rolled her eyes at Giles urgency. He always wanted her to be on time. Like one minute would make a difference in researching a new demon. Please. She strode into the library, and set her bag on the tall counter. She smoothed her hair and then turned around to face the group at the table. She almost yelled out when she met a pair of bright blue eyes staring back at her. She opened her mouth, but she couldn't find the words at the moment. Willow looked at her apologetically. She stalked up to William until they were practically nose to nose.
"What the hell are you doing here William? I do not recall asking you to come!" As Buffy totally wigged on William, Xander nudged Oz and said "Ohhh, there's gonna be a fight. I'll bet my odds on Buffy, even though William's bigger. She is the Slayer, after all-" Buffy turned to give him a glare that could slice through steel. At that moment, Giles, consumed in a book, shut it quickly and walked out of his office. He had heard the commotion, and silenced Buffy as she opened her mouth to speak.
"Buffy, do relax. William has taken an interest in helping us kill demons and such. So take a breath and sit down. Dear god, you have to control your temper."
Buffy glared at Giles but took a seat, all the while pouting like a little girl. William couldn't help but think she looked incredibly sexy when she did that...especially in her cute but revealing baby pink minskirt... He shook his head to clear of the naughty thoughts and he focused on the man in front of him.
"Well, it seems like we have a very unfortunate event on our hands. This evening marks the seven thousandth anniversary of the Relic demons. Apparently, they are to come to the Hellmouth tonight so they can harness a special power that only appears every hundred years or so. And this is the one hundreth year. And we have to stop them, because this energy will allow them endless strength and power. So, Buffy and whoever else can go will have to patrol tonight."
Giles looked at Buffy, who nodded. She turned to the rest of the Scoobies, a questioning glance on her face. Willow looked guiltily at Buffy as she said "Sorry, Buffy, but my parents want to have Oz over for dinner tonight. They wanted to meet my musician boyfriend ever since I've mentioned him."
Buffy nodded agreeably, showing she understood, she turned to Xander and Cordelia, perched on the table. Xander nodded enthusiastically but winced as Cordelia pinched him. Hard. He then shook his head sadly and cradled the arm she had pinched. Buffy shrugged and turned back to Giles.
"Well, Giles, that's alright. I can totally do a solo tonight. I'm good." But Giles cleared his throat and looked pointedly behind Buffy. Directly at William, who nodded, indicating he was free. Buffy rolled her eyes then stood up, hands on her hips. "No way! You are not coming."
"Yes I am."
"No your not!"
"Yes..."
"No!"
Giles cleared his throat once more and sighed. He rubbed his head. Defeated Buffy stalked toward the counter, grabbed her bag and didn't wait as William strolled after her out the library doors, the whole gang looking after them. It was Giles who voiced their thoughts.
"God speed to those two. It would be a wonder if they didn't kill each other by the end of the night." He sighed once more then walked back into his office.
**********
Buffy stalked ahead, pausing for only a few seconds as she waited for William to catch up. He walked slowly and she was sure it was just to piss her off.
"Willy, could you walk any damn slower? I'm getting grey hair here just waiting for you. Hurry up!". William scowled as Buffy talked. He absolutely hated that name.
"Alright, I'm trying. Maybe if you didn't walk so damn fast I could catch up. And don't ever, ever, ever call me Willy. I hate it."
Buffy looked at William, trying not to notice how good he looked in the soft moonlight. Little did she know he was trying not to do the exact same thing. Buffy broke the silence by saying "Well then, what should I call you? Asshole? Smartass? Or, ohh, how about-" she stopped as William rolled his eyes then looked at her.
"Well, I guess you could call me...Spike. It was a nickname I got back in New York, and it kinda stuck with me. No one back there really calls me William. Only my parents and my aunt and uncle do." William looked down at his feet, then back at her.
"Okay, Spike. Spike. Yaa, that sounds alright I guess. How did you get that name?"
Buffy seemed genuinely interested, and the two were actually being civil for once, but William didn't feel like telling her about his life. So he shrugged her off.
"None of your buisness, babe."
"Fine, Spike, go back to being the asshole again. And don't call me babe."
Buffy moved up ahead, her arms crossed, her face in the pout that drove William absolutely crazy. But William needed to focus.
"Relax, I just don't need to tell you my life story. It's none of your buisness, so you can't freak out about it. Just calm down."
Buffy turned around to face him. She was about to say something when she felt a whoosh of air behind her, and some soft chuckling. She wheeled around, William coming up beside her, to face three vampires in plaid.
"Doesn't anyone tell you guys that plaid is totally out. I mean, come on!" As Buffy spoke, she attacked the first vampire, William following suit. The two were soon too busy fighting to insult each other. After Buffy threw a hard uppercut, her vamp went down and she quickly staked him. She looked the last vampire in the eye but he ran off. Buffy rolled her eyes then heard William still fighting. She faced him, and she was a little surprised at how well he fought. He was strong, and he knew some good moves and techniques. As he dodged a swift kick from the vampire, Buffy also noticed that he moved with a fluid grace and accurate agility. He moved like the wind. Finally he gained the upperhand and his vamp was dust. He wiped himself off and smirked at Buffy.
"So, babe, look who's the good fighter now."
Buffy scowled and stalked off, William following.
**********
The next couple of days Buffy avoided William at school. She didn't need to patrol with him again, yet, so she stayed as far away as she humanly could. She did happen to notice that he was the major talk of the female population of the school, but she usually just ignored it. Anyone who found William boyfriend potential was totally deranged or something. Except for the fact that he's cute...and sexy...and strong...and even a little dangerous...Buffy's thoughts were interrupted when Willow ran up to Buffy, clutching her books and a little out of breath, panting.
"Buffy, Giles wants you to come to the library. He wants you for some reason, although he didn't
say why. It must be, um, important."
Willow had taken on a very cagey look. She wasn't looking at Buffy in the eye, and she was fidgeting. And a cagey Willow was a very suspicious Willow.
"Um, okey-dokey, Wils. I'll see you later, at the Bronze, right?" Buffy looked at Willow who was still not looking her in the eye. Willow glanced up.
"Yes, yes, the Bronze. Bronzing fun. Um, got to go now. Bye, Buff!"
Willow practically ran off, and Buffy stared in amusement after her. Buffy shook her head, then headed to the library, wondering what Giles had to say.
As soon as she walked in, she knew why Willow had been so cagey and nervous. Inside the library Giles and William were seated at the table. William didn't look to happy at seeing Buffy. And Buffy was sure she had the same look on her face. She appraised Giles with a raised eyebrow. She knew something was up. Giles motioned for her to take a seat, and she took one farthest from William as possible.
"Well, Buffy, William, here we are. I assume your both well. I have called you here for a reason...yes, uh, well, I want you two to eradicate any resounding quarrels between the both of you. It may disrupt your fighting ability on patrol together."
William just rolled his eyes, yet shrugged, showing that he would make up with Buffy. But Buffy just looked at Giles in confusion.
"Um, Giles, English please?" William snorted at her statement, and she looked at him fiercely, although William thought he could see a little shame in there.
"You are such an airhead, babe! He means that we should make up so we don't fight when we patrol together...as you would say, like, duh!" William laughed. Giles look at Buffy to make sure she had it clear. She shrugged her shoulders sheepishly and then nodded. "Sure Giles, whatever. Me and Spike over here will be just dandy." Giles frowned at her nickname for William, but the two were out of the library in seconds, going down opposite ends of the hallway.
**********
At the Bronze that night, everyone was sitting around a roundish table, talking, sipping drinks, totally relaxed. Buffy laughed at one of Xander's lame jokes, and felt peaceful for one night in her hectic scheduele. And to make things even better, she and William hadn't spoken all night...although she was a little dissapointed, but not that she would ever admit it. She emptied her cup, then stood up, stretching and beginning to sway to the music. Cordelia smiled, then jumped up to join her, and the two walked on the dance floor. They began to sway and dance to the beat together, hands in the air, hips swinging, back twisting. Xander watched his girlfriend dance, and felt a surge of love as he watched the girl. He then noticed William was looking in the same direction...but not at Cordelia. More specifically at the shorter blonde beside her that was doing her sexy dance. Xander raised his eyebrows. He was sure that William had a thing for Buffy, and vice versa, but no one ever seemed to admit it to themselves. Denial was a favourite past time on the Hellmouth. Xander turned his eyes back to the dance floor to see the two girls swaying...and two guys sidling up to them. Xander felt a hum of jealously, and he stood up in a rage. He had noticed that William had done the same thing.
"Hey, William, looks like our girls need us. I'm not going to let some guy take over my dancing duty as resident boyfriend!" Xander stalked to the crowded dance floor.
"Hey, Xander, I'm right behind you!" The two males stalked over.
Buffy swayed to the sexy beat, fluttering her lashes at the cutie dancing in front of her. The guy was a stranger, but Buffy didn't care. Maybe William will be jealous and will come over here to dance with me and....okay, not going to finish that sentence. Buffy sighed, then decided to just focus on her dancing. She almost tripped though when she saw William and Xander walking over to them, Xander with a forced smile on his face. He moved up to Cordelia, and pushed the guy with her to the side. Cordelia hid her smile, then said nothing. The guy just huffed and moved away muttering something, then Cordelia wrapped her hands around Xander and she began to slowly grind against him in time with the music. But Buffy didn't pay much attention to her friends. She was more focused on those piercing baby blues that were currently focused on her. Without a glance to the man Buffy was currently with, he stepped in front of Buffy, and Buffy took a little steadying breath.
"Can I cut in?" William cocked his head at Buffy, that irresitible smirk sliding across his face, the darkness on the dance floor illuminating the deep hollows of his cheeks. He looked so good...Buffy had to collect herself before she nodded. The guy just shrugged, then moved on to some redhead in a tiny black dress. William stepped up to Buffy, and slid one hand around her waist, snaking across her bare midriff, tingles shooting down to Buffy's toes. She looked up at him, surrounded in a haze of the sexy beat and his scent, all around her. She began to move her hips, and she moved closer to him, one arm going around William's neck. Buffy felt like she was coming home. It was so perfect in his arms...she started to grind against him, and she shuddered at the feeling. Buffy couldn't belive what she was feeling...she wanted him, bad. And now. Right now. He was a good dancer, and the tension between the two was thick in the air.
The music swirled around them, bringing them even closer, until no spaces remained between the two; they were pressed into each other, and was it ever a perfect fit. William had something resembling desire in his eyes, and Buffy was sure her eyes reflected the same. She put another hand around his neck, and was looking straight into his clouded, gorgeous eyes. She was drowing in their icy blue depths, feeling emotions running through her that she had never felt before. Buffy experimentally ground against him harder and smirked when he closed his eyes in pleasure. He blinked them open again, and moved his head closer to hers, foreheads touching, and their breaths quickening.
Suddenly, Buffy realized he was about to kiss her...and her heart screamed yes, while her mind screamed no. She couldn't kiss him, or else she would never stop. Then she would tell him that she loved him, while he would never feel the same. William was only going to use her, and then he would break her heart. That could never happen...William was a player who used girls for his own self-indulgement. So Buffy had to use every ounce of her strength to pull away from William at the same time his lips grazed hers. She stumbled away from him, confusion and pain swirling around in his eyes. Buffy looked at him sadly, running her hands through her hair and shaking her head. Tears threatened to fall down her cheek, but she couldn't just go. She had to tell him...
"William, I can't...I can never love you...I'm sorry."
With those words, she walked away, pushing through the crowd, determined not to cry. She stopped at the table to grab her jacket, then was out the door. William stood on the dance floor, trying to ignore the pain welling up inside him. He wouldn't, couldn't get so broken up over her. But he was. William didn't follow her.
**********
The next day, as the gang met up in the school library for a research party as usual, Buffy avoided William. Every time she looked at him her heart constricted in sadness...and tingles went down her spine at the same time. She wanted him bad, but she wouldn't admit it to herself. After all, he was a total jerk, and she was a Slayer. And Slayers couldn't have steady boyfriends. Buffy pushed all thoughts concerneing William out of her head and instead focused on what Giles was saying. Apparently there was a new demon brigade in town. The usual.
"Well, it seems that we have a new pack of demons in Sunnydale that have decided to use an underground tunnel as their new nesting place. I'm afraid that they have quite a large group, maybe 10 or 15 of them. They are here because they want to raise their ancient leader who had been killed exactly 200 years ago on this day. They are in Sunnydale because of the energy that is magnified because of the Hellmouth. And, well, the ritual they are to preform is going to happen, well, tonight."
Buffy stood up and walked toward Giles, leaning back on the large table and crossing her arms over her chest.
"Okay, Giles, then we go and take them out before they can raise their leader. Easy as pie...well, if pie was, um, easy, or something like that. Anyways, consider the job done. Is anyone up for some demon ass kicking?"
Everyone looked down at their books, trying to avoid Buffy's glance. Everyone seemed to have something to do that night. No time to help save the world. Buffy shrugged.
"Well, Giles, it's cool. I can do the job myself. I'm okay with that."
But Giles began to shake his head. "No, Buffy, I don't think that is wise. Even though these demons are not good fighters and are fairly weak, I still think it would be better if someone else came along to make sure you have all the help you need. As the saying goes, better safe than-" Buffy cut him off.
"Yes, Giles, better safe then sorry. But if no one else can come, then it will be okay-" This time it was William who cut Buffy off. He looked straight at her.
"Well, I'm free tonight. I can tag along if you want my help."
Buffy felt all of her emotions rushing around in her head. How was she supposed to kill demons if she could only focus on the guy fighting beside her? But she nodded.
"Sure, Spike, whatever." As the group headed out of the library, Xander whispered to Cordelia "Those two will end up making out by the end of the night. You want to make a bet on it, Cordy?"
Cordelia looked carefully at the two figures walking far awy from the other, and then smilied while nodding. She pulled out some bills from her purse while declaring "Your on!"
***********
That night, William was nervously waiting on Buffy's porch for her to come out so they could go to the demon nest. She had told him to wait a few minutes, but William didn't want to sit outside here alone. It wasn't to good because being alone led to thinking which led to dreaming of the small blonde Slayer, which led to the two doing some very nasty things...William stood up straighter as the object of his fantasies came out of the front door, flashing him a brief smile before she concentrated on pulling out a large duffel bag, which was filled with weapons. William tried to remember that Buffy didn't like him that way, but it didn't work. He wanted to have this girl...in more than one way. Buffy threw the bag over her shoulder, then jumped down her porch stairs. "Let's rock," she said, and soon the two were walking dowm her street, trying not to avoid the attraction flying between them by pretending to be engrossed in the trees around them.
Finally, the two reached their destination in the old part of Sunnydale, where open sewage drains were everywhere. Buffy crinkled her nose at the smell, William doing the same. Buffy tried to ignore how cute he looked when he did that. After all, she had a job to think about! She instead walked over to a hole in the ground, and beckoned to it with her head.
"Well, Spike, I think this is where they are." She opened her bag to pull out a large axe and handed it to William, while she pulled out one, too. She waited for William to jump inside, but he seemed to be waiting for her. "What?" she asked him.
"Well, babe, ladies first." He motioned with his hand, and Buffy blushed as she almost swooned. She jumped down, and landed on hard cement. She couldn't see much in the dark, but she heard William land before her. Neither could barely see, so William grabbed her hand, saying something like he didn't want to lose her. Buffy tried to ignore her sudden temperature increase or the tingles shooting down her spine. The two felt their way along the tunnel until they reached a slight opening that was well lit with candles. William reluctantly let go of Buffy's hand, and they entered the opening. Inside the found demons huddled in a circle, all wearing black robes holding bottles of blood. The room was filled with strange circles and markings, and an ancient necklace stood at the centre of the circle. Buffy threw her axe over her shoulder, put one hand on her hip while batting her eyelashes, and fluttered her eyelashes while gaily calling out "Honey, I'm home!"
The demons in the circle stopped their ceremonial chanting, and looked at the intruders in surprise, not knowing what to do. Buffy and William broke the ice by rushing forward and chopping two of the demons heads off in a flash. Suddenly, the rest of the demon group ran forward and a attack was on.
Buffy sliced and diced, actually enjoying herself. This was fun! She began to chant a little part of her favourite song as another head rolled to the floor. None of the demons were left in front of her. She heard a strangled cry, and turned to find William held captive by three demons that were ganging up on him. They held him fast though, and he struggled to get free. Buffy's heart jumped in her throat, and before anyone could react she was at William's side, pulling the demons off. He fell to the ground in a heap, panting a little. Buffy leaned over him anxiously, her heart fluttering nervously in her rib cage. She tried to control her voice as she called out his name, and sighed in relief when he answered weakly and peered up at her. Before she could say anything else, though, a demon attacked her from behind with the blunt edge of the axe, knocking her out.
While Buffy was unconscious, she didn't see William's reaction to her. He didn't take it well. Forgetting about his pain, he stood up and with a bellow of rage attacked the cloaked fiend that was in front of him. He absolutely freaked and soon the three remaining demons weren't remaining anymore. William took a deep breath then rushed to Buffy's side, pushing her golden hair out of her face. He shook her lightly, then brushed his lips over hers. Her eyes fluttered open, and William held back his sigh of happiness. Hazel peered dazedly back at him, heavy-lidded in confusion and slight pain. William helped Buffy to a sitting position.
"Hey, babe, you took a hard hit there. But don't worry, the Big Bads are gone now. Everything's okay. How are you?" William looked at Buffy in concern, a warm smile creasing his face. Buffy wondering when he had become so gentle and caring. This definitely wouldn't be good.
"Um, well, I guess I'm okay. But I feel the urge to get snuggly in my bed." William nodded and flashing another heart-melting smile, and he helped her to her feet. But Buffy swayed and grabbed her head in pain, wincing and throwing out a pout in anger. William nearly grabbed her and kissed her, but now wasn't the time. Instead, he spoke to her as gently as he could.
"Babe, I think it would be better if I carried you home...you can't exactly walk."
And before Buffy could protest, she was lifted into William's arms, and was carried out the tunnel, through the cemetary, and towards her house. Besides the fact that pain was shooting through Buffy's head, she was in Heaven. It felt so perfect in his arms, so over- whelmingly perfect that Buffy didn't want to ever leave. And Buffy didn't realize the fact that William didn't ever want to let her go either. But people don't always know what's best for them, do they?
All too soon, the pair reached Buffy's house. William opened the door, and carried Buffy up the stairs, to her room. He layed her down gently in her bed, smoothing the hair from her face and then pulling off her shoes and jacket, while Buffy couldn't help but feel pure love singing in her heart. William stood up, and moved toward the bathroom to get some bandages for the cut on Buffy's head. It didn't look too bad, but it was better to be sure that it was okay. As he carefully tended her wound, Buffy couldn't help but ask "William, how come your doing this?"
William just finished taping the cut, then looked deep in her eyes.

Bright sunlight filtered in through Buffy's bedroom window the next morning as she opened her eyes. She blinked and sat up, stretching a little as she remembered the night before. Her head felt just fine today, though, so no need for worry. But like a wave, the night's events with William washed over her. She bolted upright as the night before flashed in front of her eyes...William carrying her home...cleaning her cut...telling her he loved her. He loved her. He loved her! Buffy was so happy she could burst. And she finally admitted it to herself that she loved him too. He was perfect in every way, and he made her heart sing. He completed her, and she couldn't live without him. And now she needed to tell him that. Buffy climbed out of bed, then felt a flash of irritation as she realized that after professing his so-called love he had left her alone. What kind of a guy did that? She would fix him...Buffy washed her face and brushed her teeth in a hurry, then stalked to her closet. William was about to face the wrath of the Slayer...after she picked out the perfect outfit she would wear.

Buffy stood nervously in front of Cordelia's huge, well kept house. Buffy fidgeted with her hair while she went over what she would say to William in her head. Finally gathering some courage, Buffy walked carefully to the front door, then knocked. After waiting for a couple of minutes, she knocked again. Since no one seemed to be answering, she tried the knob, and the door creaked open. She tentively stepped in, her heels clicking on the polished marble floor. Buffy closed the door behind her, then listened for some sound or sign of life. She thought she could her a noise upstairs. Buffy looked around once more at the luxurious surroundings, then climbed the red-carpeted stairs. She listened once more, this time definitely hearing something. Buffy reached the second floor before realizing the noise was coming from Cordelia's room. Fixing her dress and hair, she walked toward the door, not bothering to knock before opening it. Her mouth dropped in surprise at the sight before her.
"Um, you know, it's good now. I'm all fixed." Buffy flashed him a smile, but inside she was screaming. It took all of her not to grab his black shirt and kiss him for all she was worth. But then she remembered her anger, and wanted to punch him instead.
"Well, I'm all better except for the fact that you just left. I was totally helpless, and then you tell me you love me, and then you just leave? What kind of a person does that? I could have had a heart attack from what you said in my weakened state and no one would have been their to help me. Thanks a lot!"
Buffy glared angrily at William, his blue eyes reflecting surprise...and pain? He moved closer to her, angry also, and beckoned with his hand for added emphasis.
"Well, excuse me. I'm sorry that I decided to profess my feelings for you. It's my fault that I feel that way, right? It's always my fault. I'm also sorry that even though you had just been practically clubbed to death I wanted to fuck you into the damn ground, but didn't because you don't love me back. Sorry for coming to Sunnydale and wrecking your perfect life! I'm sorry for fucking loving you, dammit!"
Buffy's eyes widening, her heart poundidng so fast she thought it might burst. She wanted to tell him she felt the same way, but no words could come out. Her brow creased, and little did she know but her eyes expressed all of her emotions to William. He almost gasped in surprise, his heart rejoicing. She loved him too!
"Well, William...I...you...I mean..." Buffy's speech skills were currently on vacation, and she pouted. She couldn't tell him...
But William didn't care. At the sight of her perfect mouth in that sexy little pout, his hormones went into overdrive. He couldn't resist. He took another step closer, their lips almost touching. Buffy closed her eyes in anticipation, all the while thinking in her head that this was wrong. I shouldn't do this...it's wrong...but he's so good...
Slowly, William brushed his lips over Buffy's, electricity shooting through the air between them. William teased her again with another soft brush, but she was getting frustrated. With a quick tug, Buffy had her arms around his neck, their mouths crushing together, licking, kissing, biting...heaven was on Earth. Pent up passion and love exploded in the kiss, the two finally admitting what had been so obviously there. Hands desperately grasped, moans mingled with passionate sighs, mouths all over each other. Panting, William broke away, and began to tug Buffy's shirt over her body. Buffy began to hesitate, but William resumed kissing her chest, soft kisses that sent tingles down her spine, straight to her toes. As he moved over her lacey pink bra, she let her head fall back on her shoulders, letting out little sighs of pleasure. A million thoughts raced through Buffy's head...This isn't really happening...I can't be about to have sex with William...not that I don't want to...not that he hasn't been in some of my very erotic dreams...okay, I'm about to do it with him in Cordelia's kitchen. Not exactly the most romantic place, but...
Buffy ceased to think as William quickly unhooked her bra, pulling it off and throwing it over his shoulder. He stared in awe at the beauty before him. Two perfect, golden, smooth globes stood gently over a taut, unmarred stomach. Buffy fluttered her eylashes at him, blushing only slightly, and William felt his pants tightening. He wanted to take her right now...but he had to be patient. He pushed her gently backward so she was pressed against the counter. He ground against her and began to suck on her nipples, his tongue swirling over the erect buds. Buffy gasped softly when she felt William's hard length against her. He was big...already she felt moisture pooling in her panties, soaking them. If she could get this hot when he had his pants on...she began to gyrate against his narrow hips, moaning as he nibbled on her breasts. But William stopped when he felt her slim hips moving. He looked at her as she grumbled in dissapointment from him discontinuing his delicious treatment. She pouted, and he smirked as he slowly undid her pants, Buffy's face brightening. He gently pulled them off, and grinned at how wet Buffy already was, her pink underwear darkening at the crotch from her wetness. Softly, he pulled them off, Buffy biting her lip and bucking upward in anticipation. He ran his fingertips over her breats and slipped in one finger, her silky folds letting him easily. He smiled at her tightness, thrusting quickly, and at Buffy's cries of pleasure he added another finger, her moisture sliding down his hand in milky drops. William added another finger, thrusting furiously into Buffy, her cries getting louder as the pleasure built up inside. Bringing his other hand to her core, he softly brushed her clit as he spoke to her in a husky, low voice. Her cries were making him hard.
"Tell me Buffy, that you want me to make you cum," William said, brushing her clit, Buffy hissing softly. She began to hump his fingers, her face covered in sweat.
"William, I want to cum from you..." Buffy bucked upward as William added a fourth finger, her core shivering in bliss as his fingers worked her. But Buffy shocked William with her next words.
"William, I want you to make me cum, over and over again. First by your fingers, then by your dick as you pound into me, making me scream."
William felt himself get even harder, if it was actually possible at this point, and he gave one hard last stroke as Buffy came crashing into her orgasm as he whispered
"Don't worry, baby, I'll fuck you until I can't anymore. I'll pound you into the floor, hammering you like a nail, making you cum..."
With a final shriek, Buffy came, screaming his name loudly, panting and shuddering.
She looked at William without really focusing, her eyes glazed. Finally she seemed to crash back into reality, and she looked at him through her eyelashes, almost purring as she pulled him down for a deep kiss, her tongue sweeping through his mouth. Her hand sneaked downward, and she got hold of his hard length. He hissed, and his hips bucked upward as she began to work him with her hand, softly stroking him and then squeezing lightly. But he wasn't about to cum this way.
As quick as a flash, William had Buffy down on the kitchen floor, the cold tile on Buffy's back sending shivers down her body as William entered her. They both moaned as he slid inside, a perfect fit. Bliss swirled around them, enveloping their very beings as William began to thrust into her. Buffy began to cry out as an amazing tingling began deep in her womb, spreading through her body like wildfire. William growled in his chest, an erotic sound, and Buffy felt herself get more aroused. She began to buck upward to meet him, and the two pounded into each other, Buffy getting images of human hammers. A feeling of absolute, perfect pleasure took them both over, so powerful it almost threatened to make one of them pass out in all of it's intenseness William reached his hand down to brush her clit, and she screamed out loud as a deep, penetrating orgasm overtook her, William right behind. The orgasm, amazingly enough, lasted for a full minute, the two reeling from the intense, mind-blowing experience. William rolled to his side, taking Buffy, with him. He was still inside her. Buffy felt herself grow wet again, and William began to get hard at her moisture. But he instead kissed her sweetly, and Buffy smiled against his mouth. He pulled away, and a feeling passed through them, though unspoken. It was one of admitted love. Buffy flipped them over, and she straddled him, flipping her hair over her shoulder.
"My turn," she whispered.
***********
Cordelia broke away from Xander as a rumble overtook her from her stomach. She laughed lightly, and got out of bed, pulling on a silk robe. Xander sat up, leaning on his elbow.
"Where you going? Am I to much for you to handle?" Xander asked, pretended to be manly, with his chest puffed out. Cordelia rolled her eyes, then headed out the door, calling over her shoulder as she reached the stairs.
"No, Xander, I'm just getting some food. Nothing to do with you."
Xander scrambled out of bed. The idea of food enticed him greatly. He reached Cordelia on the stairs, then grabbed her hand as he jumped down the last two, pulling Cordelia with him. She giggled as she landed, but stopped when she heard weird noises coming from the kitchen. Well, not weird, but they sounded like...
Cordelia walked quickly to the kitchen, pulling Xander along by the hand, then stopping in the doorway. She looked in to find...Buffy straddling William, both stark naked and moaning, on her kitchen floor?! Cordelia's hand went to her mouth while Xander just stared, dumbfounded. The couple naked on the floor didn't seem to take notice. Wigged, Cordelia turned and practically dragged Xander to the stairs, where she took a seat on the bottom step, reeling from the sight. Xander just looked a little freaked out.
"Oh my god...Buffy and William are doing it? Xander, did you see that?"
Xander looked upward, letting out a slow whistle.
"Yaa, I did. I was there, remember? And that was not something I needed to see, or want to see again...except for maybe Buffy..."
Cordelia angrily slapped Xander on the arm as she stood up.
"Can we focus? I mean, this is big. This is really big. My good friend and favourite cousin are doing it...this is so great!"
Cordelia's face broke into a smile, while Xander rolled his eyes, rubbing a hand through his hair. Seeing Buffy and William had shocked him, but for some reason, he felt something else. Something below the waist. Clearing his throat, Xander gave Cordy a suggestive look with his eyes, beckoning to upstairs. Cordelia gave him a look, but did indeed start to climb. But she stopped dead in her tracks, and turned to face Xander, a horrified look on her face.
"Oh my god...they were doing it in my kitchen! I'll never eat in there again!"
**********
The next night, the gang was listening to the music and sipping drinks as they sat around a small table. The dark lights flickered over the people dancing in the bronze, the music entrancing the many dancers on the floor. Buffy was seated beside William, his arm around her. Cordelia, with Xander beside her, was beaming at the two while Oz and Willow, well mostly Willow, was asking questions about the new happy couple.
"So, how did you guys two decide that you would admit your feelings for each other?"
Buffy and William just laughed while Cordelia and Xander shared a glance, almost laughing themselves.
"Well, Willow...I guess you could say that we had an, um, experience, with each other that made us realize we were meant to be together..."
William bended to catch Buffy's lips in a kiss, and Xander just couldn't resist.
"Yaa, you could say it was an experience alright...more like a physical, pleasurable experience..."
Cordelia burst out laughing, and Buffy stared wide-eyed at Xander, confused, and suspiciously.
William caught on and started to laugh along with Cordelia. Finally, Buffy realized what he had said and she blushed, but soon started to laugh too. Oz just looked back and forth between the couples while Willow looked confused.
Tightening his grip around Buffy, William cleared his throat.
"Hey, everyone, I've got something to tell you." The group focused their attention on William, and even Xander stopped laughing to look at him.
"Well, I've decided that, because of two reasons, mainly Buffy and Cordelia, and even the whole demon fighting thing, that I'm going to move to Sunnydale."
Buffy squealed happily and through her arms around him, and Cordelia did the same. Willow smiled sweetly, while Oz patted him on the back. Xander looked a little scared from the girls' outburst, but recovered and offered his congratulations also.
Everyone looked at the new couple fondly, and Cordelia let out a satisfied sigh, smiling proudly as she crossed her arms over her chest and sitting back in her chair.
Buffy stopped kissing William long enough to look at Cordelia with a raised eyebrow.
"What now, Cordy?" Buffy asked, pretending to roll her eyes but flashing a smile.
Cordelia paused dramatically before giving a smug smile before continuing.
"Well, it's just so cute that you too finally got together. You were so obviously made for each other. And not that I'm bragging or anything, but I was the one who did it. When you two get married, you can owe all of your thanks to me."
Everyone, including Oz, rolled their eyes and groaned loudly.
