Spike spread destruction and terror with his vampire buddies: Darla, Angelus and Drusilla in the 19th and 20th centuries. As The Slayer of Two Slayers, Spike received fame and respect among the demon underworld. The blond vampire killed his first vampire slayer in China during the Boxer Rebellion, in the year 1900. His next slayer, a woman called Nikki, met her death in New York City, in a subway, in 1976. When Spike had finished her off, he took her black leather duster, which later became his trademark along with the peroxide blond hair and love for Jack Daniels whiskey and Passions. William got his vampire name "Spike" due to his penchant for torturing his victims with railway spikes, he is also known as William the Bloody because of his bloody awful poems. His unlife got a drastic change when he arrived in Sunnydale (which he referred to as "Sunnyhell") with his vampire girlfriend, and love of his unlife, Drusilla, in the 90th century. His idea was to kill yet another slayer, but never succeeded in the job. Drusilla left Spike partly because she noticed him forming an unhealthy obsession with the current slayer, Buffy Summers. In season four, Spike got a chip in his head, which gave him a terrible headache every time he tried to hurt people. Being unable to bite humans, Spike slowly became a full time demon killer and a useful asset for Buffy and the gang. His obsession with the slayer changed into love, in season five, after dreaming about kissing her. His dreams came true when Buffy finally slept with him in a derelict house, in season six. The relationship between the vampire and the slayer was far from perfect and ideal. Buffy used Spike to take her mind away from her problems, and Spike, having little self-respect due to lack of a soul, let her. After attempting to take sexual advantage of Buffy, and realizing what he had done, Spike decided that he could no longer be just the demon. He needed to be something more, a better man, for Buffy. He made a journey to Africa and came back with a soul burning inside him. Spike regained Buffy’s trust and ended up saving the world from The First Evil in the series finale, "Chosen". Before turning to dust, he heard Buffy declaring her love to him.
