Sexy Dance: The Metaphor

by Adia

Disclaimer- I own BTVS as much as Sid the Dummy like's wood-worm
Rating- PG
Spoilers- Uh-huh- Seasons one to four Buffy and Season one Angel
Timezone- Set after Sanctuary but before the Yoko Factor
Feedback- If I haven't depressed you, I wanna know why! water_stream@yahoo.co.uk
Dedication- To Colonel Furry Palms- for all your help over this poem. Thank-you so much!
Authors note- Ok, trust me the previous title I had for this was worse! Basically, I've called it sexy dance because Buffy's use of Riley during her and Angel's argument reminded me of her use of Xander in WSWB- to make Angel jealous. Hence it's like 'Sexy Dance 2- The metaphor'. That's a bit of a lousy explanation but I'm going to leave it like that. Hope it wasn't misleading!
Summary- Buffy's POV about what she said in the police station

The revelation of our combat
Bridge burnt 'tween you and me
The start of something else instead
One moment of clarity

I'd hit you without meaning to
My emotions were in control
You struck me back so easily
No care left for me at all

This stirred my defensive instincts
I hungered to make you break
I wanted to feed my heart to you
Transfer to you my pain

So my soul scratched at your soul
I ripped into you with glee
I spat out words of venom
To drag you down to me

I said that I could trust him
And was grateful he wasn't you
I made my life sound happy
I made it sound so true

Although I craved to see your pain
Reflect from brooding eyes
You'll never know how hard it was
To tell you vicious lies

I want to say 'I love you'
But now it is too late
To wring my tears out in your chest
My words have sealed our fate

It's ironic that my weapon
Hurt me worse instead
Because your pain is my pain
And I'd left you there for dead

The End
