Timeline: Two years after 'I Need You Tonight' and 'Alone Once Again'...

After two years, Angelus had returned to Sunnydale. He stepped out of his black cadillac and onto the footpath leading toward the mansion he had lived in.

He had run into Drusilla a month ago. She informed him in her 'space cadet' way, that Spike was back in Sunnydale, a washed up, soulless, good guy...

His childe was aiding his lover. As much as Angel despised the thought of a vampire, especially one of HIS childer, helping a Slayer and her friends, he was content knowing that one of his offspring was protecting his beloved.

He strode into the mansion as if he had never left. He detected a hint of a very familiar scent, following it into the bedroom he had occupied for such a short while.

He paused in the doorway. There she was. In his bed. His Slayer...Buffy. He let out an unnecessary breath. Even after two years, it was apparent that she still needed him. And he still needed her...

We were standing all alone you were leaning in to speak to me
Acting like a mover shaker dancing to Madonna then you kissed me
And I think about it all the time
Sweet temptation rush all over me
And I think about it all the time
Passion desire so intense I can't take anymore because

She felt him near. She slowly drifted out of her dreamstate, and felt his gaze upon her. She looked up slowly.

He was back! In their eyes, their love and passion was reflected. After two years, they were finally back together!

Buffy sat up in the bed, holding her hand out to him in silent invitation. He rushed to her side and locked her lips with his own and held her tightly, never wanting to let her go again...

I felt the magic all around you
It's bringing me to my knees
Like a wannabe
I've got to be chained to you

This time he wouldn't have to let her go...

The time of her death was nearing. He only had this one chance, because if he failed, she would be dead and nothing he could do would change that.

He thought about the last time he had seen her...another goodbye between them. He had seen the tears in her eyes, could feel the accusations burn into his back as he left. But he had accomplished what he had set out to do, with only days to spare.

He closed his eyes, thinking about the possible ramifications of the next few days. If he did everything right, Buffy would become his until the end of time, but if he didn't...

He couldn't think of that. He growled under his non-existent breath, at the thought of himself failing. He was Angelus! He didn't fail...except when it came to a certain Slayer. He grimaced as another thought occurred to him. He didn't want to imagine what Buffy would do if she found out that he had killed the last Slayer.

She hadn't been at all like his Buffy. The chit had been a slut in the first order! She hadn't really been much of a threat to his plans, not even making much of a killing when it came to his minions, but he had a reputation as a Slayer killer and there was no way he was going to kill Buffy, so...

He grinned at that thought. No, he couldn't kill Buffy, there was a difference. She had once been his enemy, but she was a stronger opponent than any he had ever come across. In truth, he had admired her strength and before they had come to feel for each other again, he had contemplated turning her...if he could keep her still long enough to bite her...

But now...all he could picture was the look of pure rapture on her face when she had discovered he had returned. Her love for him had kept him going. As had his love for her. The mighty Angelus had fallen for a Slayer...

And somehow, he would save her...

And when you looked into my eyes felt a sudden sense of urgency
Fascination casts a spell and you became more than just a mystery
And I think about you all the time
Is this fate is it my destiny
That I think about you all the time
I no longer pretend to have my hand on the wheel because
I feel the magic all around you
It's bringing me to my knees
Like a wannabe
I've got to be chained to you
I feel the magic building around you

Later that, Buffy's thoughts interrupted her patrolling. She knew that her time was almost up. She could feel the darkness closing in on her. She had been dreaming of her and Angelus being together for eternity, and had known that this was the sign she had been waiting for ever since she had become the Slayer. The signal of her death...

Maybe the dreams meant that he had succeeded in finding a way to make her immortal. She knew now, that she loved him just as much as she did Angel. They were just different sides of the same entity.

Her thoughts consumed her. Failing to alert her to the evil presence to her left. She failed to see the arrow heading toward her until it was imbedded in her heart. She couldn't think anymore, didn't know if Angelus would know just how much she loved him, as well as Angel. She just couldn't think...

Just feel...

I feel the magic all around you
It's bringing me to my knees
Like a wannabe
I've got to be chained to you
Pain...

It hit Angelus so suddenly, that he sat up in bed. It ran through him like an electric current. It's too soon! His mind cried out. Not yet! I'm not ready! He picked up the bag on the leather chair next to him as he dashed to his car...

He had to find her...!

Buffy on the other hand, had complete faith in him. She remembered when she had needed him, just before he had left, he had come to her. Her friends had abandoned her because of her love for him, but he knew. He had come to her when her heart cried out for him.

Well, her heart was crying out to him now, as her dreams came back to her. Together. They had been spending eternity in the comfort of each other's embrace...

Once again, he was all Buffy could see in her future...

And I think about it all the time
And I think about it all the time
Tell me it's madness I barely know you
We were standing all alone and you were leaning in to speak to me
Ten steps back you're still a mystery
Acting like a mover shaker dancing to Madonna then you kissed me
I can't take anymore because

Angelus reached her in record time. She was getting weaker by the second, but he got there just in time. The arrow, as expected, was laced with a spell that would sustain her long enough to slowly paralyze her body, starting at her feet.

It had already reached her waist by the time he got there. He rushed to her side to make sure she was okay. she told him that apart from the arrow sticking out of her heart, which was weird to say the least, she wasn't too bad.

As he began removing the things he needed out of his bag, he explained to her what was going on. It had been an organized hit. He had heard about it, even overseas. She was supposed to feel her death coming closer. The spell on the arrow had been specially made for her, so that she could panic as the paralysis took over and no one was there to help her...but he was there. There was no way that some two-bit demon would take away Angelus' Slayer!

Buffy had smiled at that. It was so like Angelus to be so full of himself. She watched as he took out a bottle of water and some powder. She drank it when he added the powder to the water. She trusted him completely. He muttered a few words in a language she didn't understand, and then he kissed her.

He bit his lip while he was kissing her, so that a very tiny amount of his blood would mix in with some of the drink, but was very careful not to cut Buffy in any way. His blood would tie her to him, so that if either one of them died, they would still be there in spirit. The powder was a mix of the blood of a Mohra demon and some kind of power thing that he still didn't fully understand, but it needed the recipient to be near death before it would work.

Already he could feel it working its way through her...

I can feel the magic all around you
It's bringing me to my knees
Like a wannabe
I've got to be chained to you

She felt herself being altered. Her body started to accommodate her new status. The paralysis was fading fast and her wounds were healing even faster...

He could feel the change occurring and he was happy...but first...he quickly pulled his Polaroid camera out of the bag and told Buffy to act dead. He took a couple of photos of her with the arrow sticking out of her chest. That would be sure to convince her friends and anyone else, that she was dead.

When he was done, he pulled the arrow out of her body, letting the wound heal completely. He helped her up and held her close. He had come so near to losing her that night, but now, they would spend eternity together...

I feel the magic building around you

Their love had been enough to sustain them for the last two years, through the time they had been enemies. It would be strong enough to last with them for eternity, without the added complications of silly soul misunderstandings...ha!

I feel the magic all around you
It's bringing me to my knees
Like a wannabe
I got to be chained to you

They quickly went to her place to pick up a few things that wouldn't be missed and a few things she needed. Then they headed back to the mansion, ready to pack everything and then get the Hell out of Dodge...

Some people wouldn't understand why a Slayer would willingly trust a vampire, love a vampire, especially one with a soul, but to her, he was still her beloved Angel underneath. He would never harm her, he would always protect her. That was all she knew of him...

Tell me it's madness
I barely know you

But that was all she needed to know. Anything else, any annoying habits he had, she could learn in the many, many eons of eternity that had yet to come...

The End
