Notes: This is in response to Kiley's birthday challenge. Happy Birthday!
Requirements: Angel and Buffy are married...he's human...doesn't really matter how..he's just human! And they have an 18 month old baby girl, and a little boy who's turning 3. Well, they want to give him a big costume party for his 3rd birthday and they schedule all these things and everything goes wrong.
* Xander dressing as a clown thinking it'll make all the kids happy but just end up scaring them.
* A pony
* Spike dressed as a cow
* Pepperidge Farm's Goldfish crackers
*Buffy and Angel fluffiness
*a puppy
Optional:
*Riley coming to the party, seeing Spike and saying "Bessie?" and trying to hug him...
*Angel dressed as Tarzan...(yummy)
*a bar of soap
*Pom poms...
*Someone dressed like someone from X-men (either the comics or the movie...)

"'ake up!"

Buffy and Angel were jerked awake by the small boy who was jumping on their king-size bed. The entwined couple groaned. Angel grabbed him and held him close.

"Happy birthday, baby," Buffy whispered to her now three-year-old son.

"Happy birthday, Danny," Angel murmured sleepily.

"Birfday!" Danny yelled amid his own laughter.

A giggle was heard from the corner of the room. All three people turned to see eighteen-month-old Christina standing in her crib with a cute grin on her face.

"Ch'istina!" Danny waved. The girl gargled happily.

Angel got out of bed, wearing only his shorts, picked up his daughter and carried her over to the bed where Buffy and Danny were.

He laid back down and Christina sat between him and Buffy. Danny crawled over his mother and joined her. Angel held his daughter's hand. "It's your brother's birthday today, sweetheart."

Christina turned to her brother and giggled, then she patted his cheek and smacked a noisy kiss on his nose.

Danny laughed and hugged his baby sister.

Buffy took one look at them and melted. "Aww, that's so cute!"

Angel laughed and moved so that he could kiss his wife. Sunlight filled the room. Angel was thankful for his humanity. He had a beautiful and loving wife, not to mention two adorable children.

Buffy smiled at him. "We have a party to prepare for."

Angel looked at the clock. Daniel's birthday party was scheduled for one that afternoon. The clock read 8:00am...

He groaned.

Buffy slammed the telephone receiver back into its cradle. It was midday and the clown had just called to say that he was unable to make it to the party.

Buffy was not happy...

The hire company had been late delivering the outdoor furniture, Christina had developed a temperature and she was behind in the food department. She couldn't even ask Angel to help because he was at the pet store picking up Danny's present.

He was getting a puppy.

Buffy huffed at the thought. More problems...

The front door creaked open. Angel. Thank god! The door slammed...

CRASH!!!!!

Oh no!! I didn't leave the glasses near the front door, did I????

Buffy ran into the front room and saw the remains of her crystal glasses shattered on the floor. She groaned. This just isn't my day...

Everyone had arrived. All of the other children had arrived, Xander and Anya's twins were dressed up as Rogue and Gambit from 'X-Men', a couple of the other children were in slightly different costumes, some typically Hellmouthy and were busy out in the backyard with Spike and Xander. They had agreed to fill in for the absent clown. Spike was dressed up in a cow costume, while Xander was dressed up as the clown.

Buffy finally sighed in relief as she put the finishing touches on the birthday cake. Angel wrapped his arms around her waist from behind and began trailing kisses along the back of her neck...

"How's it going?" he asked.

"Everything's finally ready...thank god! It's been one Hell of a day..." she sighed.

Just then, the children began to scream in terror. Buffy and Angel rushed outside, expecting to see some kind of Hell beast. Instead, they saw all of the children trying to hide from Xander the clown.

Buffy dragged Xander inside and away from the frightened children. "Xander, you're supposed to laugh them to death, not scare them to death. On the way in, they passed Oz and Willow, discussing crackers...

Willow looked at the packet of crackers that Oz handed her. "Pepperidge Farm's Goldfish Crackers? What happened to the regular animal crackers?" Willow queried.

Oz smiled. "I think the monkeys and the hippos were too busy arguing over who has more right to wear pants..."

Willow laughed...

The doorbell rang.

Buffy sent Xander into the bathroom to get changed. "Thank god the pony's here," she murmured.

Angel smiled his agreement and answered the door. It was Riley. Both Buffy and Angel groaned. The TA grinned at them, then froze. He was looking past them, out the back window...

Riley rushed into the backyard. "Bessie?" He ran up to Spike, who was still in the cow costume. "Bessie!" he yelled as he tried to hug Spike.

Spike growled. "Get off me, ya big Poof!"

Riley pouted...

Buffy and Angel quickly put Danny and Christina down for bed. They had had fun, despite the day's mishaps.

Angel directed Buffy to their bedroom and set her on the bed. His wife opened her mouth to ask him something, but he placed a finger over it. "Shh...all of this dressing up has given me an idea. I haven't forgotten that it's also our fifth anniversary, babe."

Buffy reached into the nightstand to get his present, when Angel strode into the bathroom. Buffy was laying on the bed in a slinky red negligee when she heard Angel's, "Hey, Jane?"

She looked up immediately and sucked in a breath at the sight of Angel in a loincloth that looked like something from the Tarzan movie they had rented the week before. Buffy dimly recalled commenting to her husband that she'd give her slaying abilities to be able to see him in Tarzan's getup.

Buffy giggled when Angel jumped into bed with a "Ahhhhhh ah ah ahhhhh!"
