Disclaimer: Don't own em. Joss Whedon and all the big guys down at Fox and Mutant Enemy do. Do you really think I would be writing fan-fics about Buffy and Angel getting back together if they already were???
Spoilers: Just both seasons, k?
Rating:PG-13
Author's Notes: I wrote this on a whim at 10 at night. Feedback, maybe? , k? This story deals with some of the things we were talking about on the list, of why Riley's so great for Buffy

"Angel?" Buffy murmured, reaching over to touch him. He rolled over and hugged her.

"Huh?" Buffy opened her eyes to see Riley hugging her. Oh, Riley. Not Angel. Riley. Her boyfriend.

"I'm an angel? Well thank you." Riley grinned.

"Oh, shoot. I have a class in 20 minutes. I have to go. Bye," she pecked Riley on the cheek, gathered up her stuff, and quickly hurried out.

Damn. Another dream about Angel again. What was with this? Buffy had been having dreams about Angel this week. Why? She had no clue. She had been with Riley for weeks now (unfortunately. Oh sorry....back to the story.) And hadn't thought of Angel since Thanksgiving when he showed up on Sunnydale. Thanksgiving. Every time she heard that word she got a weird feeling inside.

Anyway, Buffy didn't know what had triggered these dreams. She kept having them, and waking up next to Riley. Disappointed, she had always rushed out of his dorm with an excuse.

He had just figured she had a lot of classes.

The truth was, she felt a little guilty about having the dreams. And waking up next to Riley was no help to these feelings.

As she reached Stevenson, she hurried up the stairs and into her dorm. Realizing Willow had left for one of her classes already, Buffy had a good hour before one of hers started.

Buffy laid her stuff down on the bed, and went over to her desk to think. What should she do? These dreams had been going on for a week now, and she couldn't go on feeling guilty like this forever.

She grabbed a piece of paper and started doodling. She wasn't really paying attention to what she was doing, too absorbed in her thoughts. Buffy glanced down at the page. All over the page, was 'Buffy + Angel' or 'Buffy and Angel'.

Err. She groaned and put her face in her hands. She took another piece of paper out of her notebook and looked at it.

Then a foolish idea struck her.

Buffy remembered all of those times in 4th grade when her and her best friend Jennifer had always wrote pros and cons for certain boys in her class. What the hell, she thought as she scribbled down 'Angel' and 'Riley' on the piece of notebook paper.

Ok, let's see. There were so many differences between them, what could she start with?

Buffy poised over her paper, tapping the pencil in thought. How about clothes? It was a stupid idea, but she wanted to do something before the serious matters. Angel. She smiled as she wrote down leather pants, remembering how he looked. Riley. Commando uniforms. Hmmmm. She wrote that under Riley's and went on.

Let's see......personality, she thought. Angel was nice, sweet, caring. Riley was nice.......She paused for a moment thinking of what other things he was. Nice..............hmm. She couldn't think of any.

Now, for the serious matters. Angel, vampire. Riley, human. I guess that's a plus for Riley, Buffy thought, and then was surprised at how disappointed she was at him getting a plus.

Angel, can't have sex. Riley, can. But Riley it was just, sex. Angel, it was about love.

This was hard. She looked down and noticed half of her pencil was chewed through.

Angel....he was.....just different. But Riley, Riley was everything she needed. He could look at crosses, go in the sunlight, had a heartbeat. Perfectly normal.

Wait a second. Riley was everything she needed. That's what everybody said, right.

Most people spend their life trying to be different from the crowd. Teachers tell you throughout your life, 'be who you are', 'don't follow the crowd'. And here I am, trying to be normal, when I am different. I am who I am. I spend half the time 'holding back' from Riley, trying to be someone else, she realized.

And since when had she been religious? And she wasn't exactly the girl who was 'picnics in the sunshine'. She had spent most of her life in the darkness.

With Angel. Angel had practically always been there for her, stood by her side. Riley had turned an about face when Professer Walsh had died. It was the final decision. Buffy had to choose between Riley and Angel. Between light or dark.

And she didn't hesitate when she realized the answer. She grabbed her jacket and headed off toward LA.

Willow walked into the dorm after her morning class. Exhausted, she collapsed on the bed. That's when she realized Buffy wasn't there. Nothing unusual there. Gallivanting off with Riley is what she usually did.

Willow wandered over to Buffy's desk. And noticed the sheet of paper with Buffy's pros and cons.

She smiled. And then started to laugh when she noticed the bed. Buffy, being so in a rush to see Angel, had left her clothes on the bed. Meaning that she had just driven off to LA in her pajamas.

Oh well, Willow thought. I have a feeling she'll be there for more then a few hours, once finding out that the spell I cast last night made Angel's soul permanent.

And with that, Willow put Buffy's clothes back in her closet and went to go meet Xander for lunch.
