Rating: PG-14 You watch the show, you can watch this.
Authors Notes: Ok, I kept reading all of these Buffy dying stories, which
were all fantastic. But I wondered what would happen if Angel were the one
dying.........This was meant to be sad, but judging this was written by me,
it's probably not. Sorry! Feedback, pretty please??
"Buffy." Cordelia's voice rasped through the line.
"Cordelia?" Buffy asked, sitting on the bed. She had just come back from patrolling with her boyfriend, Riley Finn.
Willow looked up from the bed. Cordelia? She mouthed. Buffy nodded and turned back to the phone.
"Cordelia. Hey. What's up?" she asked, raising her eyesbrows at the fact Cordy was calling her at 10 at night.
"Buffy," Cordelia said. "Buffy, it's Angel. He's hurt."
"Hurt? Cordelia, what's going on?" Buffy asked, immediately alarmed.
"Buffy, he's dying."
Buffy dropped the phone and slid to her knees, staring at it in shock. Willow rushed over and picked up the phone. "Cordy, it's Willow. What's going on?"
Buffy felt tears coming to her eyes. Angel? Dying? How could this be? He was a vampire. This couldn't happen. This wasn't supposed to happen. The tears had started to fall. And then she realized something. Cordelia had said dying. Not dead. Angel still had a chance. But he still could die.
But Buffy wasn't going to let that happen. She grabbed her jacket and raced out the door.

Buffy raced down the freeway to Los Angeles. There was practically no one on the road. She zipped toward the exit that headed toward Angel's apartment. She quickly parked on the street, not even taking time to lock it. She ran into the apartment. It was deserted. She noticed some stairs, and quickly ran down them.
But she wasn't prepared for what she saw.
Cordelia was sitting on the chair next to Angel's bed, and Wesley sat across from her.
But what disturbed her, the one that made her heart fell like it was ripped out and done the Mexican hat dance on, was Angel. He was laying on the bed, gasping for air, which was ironic, speaking that he didn't breathe. He looked a lot like he did near graduation.
"Buffy," Cordelia rushed up and hugged her. Buffy just stood there. "How did this happen?" she asked, barely managing to get the words out.
Wesley stood up and walked toward her. "He was out one night, fighting a group of demons. One had a arrow with him, much like the one Faith used on graduation day. In it was a deadly disease. Much like the 'killer of the dead', but there's one difference. There is no cure."
Buffy could only stare at him.
"There has to be a cure," she sputtered. "The Oracles.....they had to have made a mistake. They had to. They can't loose this warrior."
"He's sleeping,"Cordelia said. "He's been saying your name all the time."
Buffy looked at her, and Wesley said, "We'll leave you alone." The two left.
Buffy walked over to Angel's bedside. She sat down next to him. "Angel....I don't know what to say. How could you do this? How could you.......get like this? I can't stand to see you this way," she said, her voice breaking. She reached up and touched his face.
"I can't see you this way. You can't die. I love you. I've always have. If you were to leave me.........what would I do? You've kept me alive Angel, even at the times when you weren't here. You were my light in the darkness. Every night after you left, I felt like dying. But I kept going on. Knowing that you were. But it tore me apart knowing you were going on. And now you're leaving me once again. I can't live through another heartache again, Angel. You can't leave me," she said, breaking into sobs. "I'll never forget, Angel. Everything about our relationship. But most of all, I remember Thanksgiving. I told you I wouldn't forget. And I didn't. She buried her head in her hands.
"How do you...?" the voice startled Buffy. She looked down to see Angel looking at her.
"Angel, I never could," she said.
"Buffy, I love you," he said, and then broke off into a cough. "I'm sorry for everything I've done. You were my light. The thread that kept me from killing myself from everything I've done." He looked at her, even though it was hurting every limb in his body to do it. He wanted so much to hold her.
"Oh, Angel," she said, and moved to hug him, but realized she couldn't.
"Buffy, will you just.....hold me?" he gasped. He could feel it coming. The dark shadow of death coming.
She slowly slid him into her arms. He looked so sick, and she knew it was going to happen. She slowly kissed him on the cheek. He smiled softly, and gasped as another jolt of pain went through his body.
"Buffy, I...."
"Don't speak," she said softly. "I love you Angel. I always have. Even the times when it seemed like I didn't. I've loved you since the first time I saw you. I felt so bad about you giving up humanity for me. You've always been there for me, always. And I haven't for you. Thanksgiving was the best part of my life. Being with you--it made me feel so special inside. You loved me, and gave up humanity for me. You went to hell for me. I love you Angel, and I always will"
He reached up and touched her face. "I love you, Buffy."
He slowly closed his eyes.
And Buffy allowed herself to cry.
*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~**~*~*~*~*~*~*
Buffy didn't want to leave him. But she knew what she had to do. She ignored Cordelia and Wesley's questions as she walked out the office door. She slowly drove, arriving at a parking lot by the beach. She slowly walked up the jutting path that led up to the top of the cliff. She looked out, standing on the cliff over looking the ocean.
"I love you guys," she whispered to everyone she loved. But it was time.
She slowly took her last breath, and walked off the cliff.
And finally, for the first time since Angel had left, she knew who she'd be with forever. She would be meeting him again soon, wherever your soul goes when you die.
And as Buffy Summers died, she felt nothing but peace.
