Buffy Summers shot up from her bed, sweating frantically. "Oh my God!" she gasped.
"Buffy? What's up?" Willow asked sleepily from her bed.
Willow? What are you doing here? Why aren't you at your house?" Buffy looked over from where she was sitting. "Where are we?"
Willow sat up. "Buffy, calm down. We're in our dorm."
"Our dorm?" Since when did she live in a dorm? She quickly ran over the things that had happened last night. Patrolled, saw Angel, got in her bed at home. Was this a dream?
"Buffy, is something wrong? Did you have a bad dream?" Willow got up from her bed and opened the blinds.
"Bad dream. Oh my god! I have to warn Angel!" Buffy quickly jumped out of her bed. Wait, how could she warn Angel if she didn't know where she was?
"Buffy! What's wrong? You look really confused. Are you sick?" Willow walked over and put her head on Buffy's head. "No, that can't be it. You're regular temperature. What's wrong?"
"Will, where are we?" Buffy asked frantically. "And when did you cut your hair?"
"Buffy, something's wrong. I cut my hair like, a year ago."
"Will, a year ago you just met me. That's impossible." Buffy bit her lip. What the hell was going on? She was in a strange place, with a strange Willow, and she needed to find Angel about her dream. Buffy was scared about that. She had dreamed about Drusilla killing Angel.
"Oh, god. Buffy, sit down." Buffy sat. "Now, who's president?"
"Duh. Clinton."
"Ok, what's 4 times 4?"
"16."
"What year is it?"
"1998."
Willow started pacing. "What's wrong, Willow?"
"Buffy, what was your dream about?"
Buffy looked at her, with a scared expression on her face. "It was about.....Drusilla....she killed Angel. That's why I have to find him and tell him about it. What if it's a prophecy? Will, I'm scared."
"Oh my god! Buffy, what's the last thing you remember?" Willow sat down on the bed next to her.
"Well, last night. I went patrolling with Angel. Then I went home to bed."
"Oh god! I have to call Giles..........what are we gonna do??" Willow started pacing again.
Just as Buffy was about to ask where she was, the door opened. Both girls looked up from their confused thoughts.
"Buffy! Hey! Good morning! I brought you a donut!" Riley produced a slightly-smushed donut from his back pocket. It was half eaten. "I got kinda hungry on the way." He walked over to her, and tried to give her a kiss.
Buffy slapped him. "I don't know who the hell you are, but you better get away. I have a boyfriend. So if you don't mind, get away from me."
"Buffy, is something wrong? What are you talking about? You're acting like you hate kissing me." Riley looked confused, and ate some of the donut that was still in his hand. He shot a confused look at Willow.
But Willow was talking on the phone. How could she talk on the phone at a time like this? Riley turned back to Buffy, who looked mighty pissed.
"Damn right I hate kissing you! I've never met you! What kind of gentlemen are you?"
As Riley was about to respond, Willow put down the receiver of the phone.
"Buffy, we are going to Giles's."

Buffy quickly followed Willow off UC Sunnydale's campus. "Will, when will that weird guy stop following us?"
Willow ignored her question about Riley, even though he was getting annoying.
Buffy sighed. This guy was making her mad. First, he has the nerve to kiss her. When they've never met! What was his problem? She tried to explain to Willow about going to see Angel immediately, but Willow had brushed the comment off.
And this Riley-guy was like, stalking her. Buffy didn't like him. He seemed to.....hickish. And he wasn't that good-looking. He resembled a fish.
As they approached Giles's door, Riley just kept on following them. Willow opened the door, and Buffy walked in. And saw.....Spike? She raced toward him, who was carrying a bowl of popcorn.
Buffy quickly knocked him over, popcorn flying everywhere. "Will! Hand me a stake! Quick!"
A pair of arms quickly grabbed her off Spike. Giles looked back at her.
"Is this what you were talking about, Willow?"
"Bloody hell, Slayer. What the hell was that for?"
"That was for torturing Angel!" she shouted, twisting and turning in Giles's grasp. What was he doing? Was he insane?
Spike, meanwhile, was looking at her like she was the one who was nuts. "Did she loose her bloody marbles? When did I torture Angel? Oh, yeah. But that was back in October or something. Hold a bloody grudge much?" he mumbled as he went back to the kitchen to get a brandy.
"Buffy, sit down. Spike won't hurt anyone. It's a rather long story. Now what dream were you talking to Willow about?"
Buffy sat down on the couch. "It was about Drusilla. She killed Angel....I have to tell him..."
"Oh dear. Buffy, you had that dream a 2 years ago. Willow, I think she has amnesia."
Buffy looked at him. "I can't. I didn't get hit in the head or anything."
"Buffy, the year is 2000. Spike has a chip in his head, that's why he's here. And the boy following you is Riley Finn. He's your boyfriend."
Buffy looked around, confused. "What about Angel? He's my boyfriend. Giles? What happened to Angel?" She looked at him frantically.
Giles looked at her. "Buffy...he..he left. Last year."
All Buffy could do was just stare at him.
*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~**~*~*~*~**~*~*~*~*
"So she'll get her memory back between now and a week from now? Isn't that a little long?" Xander asked Giles.
"Well, for a Slayer, yes. But she'll pull through. She always does."
Buffy sat on the couch, barely listening to anything anyone was saying. She understood she had lost her memory. She understood everything the group told her. Except that Angel had left her.
They had explained to her what had happened. Everything. Angel turning bad? She couldn't believe it. But she knew it was true.
And this Riley. He kept gazing at her. She couldn't stand it. Buffy felt like she was under a microscope. Spike had been snickering at that.
Buffy couldn't believe it. This was her boyfriend? When had she lost her great taste in boys?
"Come on, Buffy., why don't we go back to the dorm?" Willow asked her.
"Why don't I come with you?" Riley asked. At the disgusted look Buffy gave him, Willow said, "Maybe that's not the best idea, Riley."
"But I'm her BOYFRIEND."
"No, Riley. I may usually know who you are, but guess what? I don't now. And so far, I can't stand you." She remembered what her ex-friend Jennifer from Hemery had once said. "Get out of my facial."
Riley sighed. "You don't mean it, Buffy," he muttered to himslf as he walked out the door.
Keep telling yourself that, Buffy thought as she followed Willow out the door.

Buffy stared out the window of her dorm room, sniffling. She missed Angel so much. She couldn't believe he had left her. Willow had explained why he'd left. A normal life?? She couldn't have that. There must be some better reason why he'd left her. Maybe he wanted a break.
Maybe he didn't want to be with her.
Buffy quickly pushed that thought out of her head. She loved him, he loved her. Right?
He had never really told her that.
But there was only one way to find out.
Buffy left a note on the bed for Willow as she snuck out.

Angel put away Mrs. Brown's file. It had been listed under 'D'. He wasn't exactly sure why. "Cordy?" he called. No answer. "Cordy?" he called again. "CORDY!!!" he yelled.
Someone stepped in the room.
"Cordelia, why was Brown under the letter D?" he asked her.
Suddenly, he was whirled around. Buffy slammed him against the file cabinet, and kissed him, long and hard.
"Buffy?" he asked as the kiss ended. Oh, god. The passion in that kiss was very hard.
Stop it, he told himself. She has a boyfriend. One that can go out in sunlight and had a pulse.
"Angel," she said sweetly. "Long time, no see."
"Buffy-" he started, but the phone rang. "Hello?"
"Angel." Giles's voice came on the line with a crackle.
"Giles? What?" he turned around and looked at Buffy. She shrugged and smiled innocently.
"Angel, is Buffy there?"
"As a matter of a fact, yes."
"Well, she seems to have lost her memory. She can't remember anything after the events of....um....the Judge. Not even the Judge."
Angel's eyes widened as he realized what Giles meant. "Are you......are you sure?"
"Quite certainly, yes."
"Ok, Giles. She'll be fine." Angel quickly ended the phone call, and turned to face Buffy.
"Angel, I wanna get back together," she said, walking over to where he was standing
"Buffy, you don't remember anything. This is probably...I left because-"
"Yeah, I know why you left," she said, dismissing it with a flick of her hand. "But you know what, Angel? Sometimes, you're wrong. And that was one of those times. I can never have a normal life."
"But you have one now. You have a boyfriend. Once you remember him, you'll forget about me."
"Angel," she said, her voice softening, "I can never forget about you. And personally, I've just met my boyfriend. And I can't stand him."
"Buffy, listen to me. When you're older, you'll wanna have kids. Go out in the sunlight with your husband. I can't give you those things."
"Angel, darling. There are solutions to all of those problems. I can't have kids, being the Slayer. Oh, and if I do want, it's called adopting. Sunlight? Not a problem. Don't care. Any other excuses?" she said, raising her eyebrows.
"Buffy..." he started, but she silenced him.
"I know about the curse. Willow will find a cure."
"Buffy, I was going to say that it was permanant. And-"
"Angel, I don't mean to sound cruel, but shut up." She kissed him, and he picked her up, and carried her downstairs.

Angel looked at the sleeping Slayer. She looked so peaceful. So quiet.
But he was worried. Once she remembered, she would leave him. Leave him for that boy.
He had already let her slip through his fingers once.
He wasn't going to make that mistake twice.
