//When I think back
On these times
And the dreams
We left behind//

The warm summer breeze swept through the night air. A solitary figure stepped out of the tree's shadows and crossed the short distance to the newest of the freshly dug graves. There were so many...

He never really imagined that he'd be in the position he was now. Standing at Buffy's grave stone. He'd kind of always pushed this nightmare in the back of his mind, so far that he sort of thought it was impossible, that Buffy was immortal, like him. The curvy letters of her name on the marble stone brought that nightmare to life, out from the depths of his mind and into the sad reality of the world. His chest constricted in heartbreak, and his eyes watered. He fought the tears, held his head up, and smiled.

//I'll be glad 'cause
I was blessed to get
To have you in my life
When I look back
On these days
I'll look and see your face
You were right there for me//

He remembered the first day he saw her. Brightly smiling in the sunlight, skipping merrily down the steps. The way her life should have been. The life that she deserved. Falling to his knees, Angel placed his palms on the cold stone, gently rubbing the careful carving //Buffy Anne Summers//. He closed his eyes, and saw her smiling at him, laughing, flirting with him like all those years ago. His lips remembered the way she tasted, like the finest vanilla. His body remembered her small embrace, and the way it ached with need when she wasn't near him.

//In my dreams
I'll always see your soul
Above the sky
In my heart
There always be a place
For you for all my life
I'll keep a part
Of you with me
And everywhere I am
There you'll be//

His wedding ring glistened in the moonlight as he slid it off his finger. He kissed it with the gentleness he'd always reserved especially for her. Placing the ring on the stone, he stood. Her essence was all around, he felt it. The magic she always provided whenever she'd grace a room with her presence. Everything he is, has been, and will be, is reflected in her. She's a part of him. And although Buffy was only in his life for a short amount of time, her love made a lasting imprint. A deep burn in his soul. A Tear finds its way to the surface of his eye and he lets it fall down his face. Only one. Just like her, his only love.

//Well you showed me
How it feels
To feel the sky
Within my reach
And I always
Will remember all
The strength you
Gave to me
Your love made me
Make it through
Oh, I owe so much to you
You were right there for me//

He took a final glance and turned to walk away. He wasn't leaving her, he never would. Because he knew she was going with him. In his heart.

//You were right there for me
For always//
