Buffy Summers sighed nervously and returned her attention to the brown, A4 envelope that lay on her desk, next to her picture of Angel. The envelope that contained the piece of paper that could change her whole options in life. Most kids called it the A level Exam Results. She called it plain Evil.

Angel had arranged to come down and visit her for the weekend to be there for her when she opened it: to either comfort or celebrate with her. That was before the heavens had opened up and decided to rain non-sop for the past four days. Almost the entire main route to Sunnydale from LA had been flooded and Angel had no way to get to her. So her lover was stuck in LA and she was trapped in her dorm with that evil envelope. She was determined that she wasn't going to chicken out. She wasn't going to allow herself to leave the dorm until she'd opened it.

'Buffy?' her best friend spoke up tentatively. 'Are you feeling okay?'

'Hmmm,' Buffy replied absentmindedly; her attention still focused on the envelope. *I can do it. It isn't that hard. Just pick it up.*

'Buffy, you've been staring at that for two days.' Willow continued, somewhat apprehensively. 'Maybe you'll feel better if you open it?'

Buffy shook her head firmly.

'I managed to work up the courage,' Willow tried to encourage her friend. 'I'm sure that if I can do it-'

'I can't do it.'

'Yes you can.'

'It's too hard. It's stronger then I am.'

Willow sighed and shook her head. This was getting ridiculous. 'Just take a deep breath and-'

She paused mid sentence when she heard a loud knock on the door, having no idea who it could be. Xander had been around to see them yesterday, only to have to duck flying objects courtesy of Buffy after he had tried to touch her envelope. News had travelled fast and, in concern for everyone's safety, Giles had decided it would be best if they all stayed out of her way until she'd either opened it or calmed down. Willow secretly agreed with them, but she couldn't exactly just abandon her friend.

She got up to open the door and felt relief flood through her at the sight of Angel stood in the doorway, completely drenched. Water soaked his hair and droplets clung to his eyelashes and lips. His shirt was plastered against his chest like a second skin and his leather trousers were tighter then Willow would have thought possible. Realising that she was staring, she quickly looked away in embarrassment.

'Angel! You managed to get here! How? Oh, never mind, that doesn't matter at the moment. Please do something.' Willow pleaded.

Angel stepped inside and his gaze fell on his girlfriend, sat cross-legged on the bed in her flannel pyjamas and tank top, staring with glazed over eyes' at the envelope on her desk. He smiled slightly at the sight of her and then turned back to Willow.

'I'll leave you two alone,' Willow whispered quietly, glancing warily at Buffy. 'I hope you have better luck then we've had, although I'm sure you will, since, you know, you're Angel and she's Buffy, but then, you knew that, and I'm babbling, and.' Angel laughed slightly and nodded before turning his attention back to his girlfriend as Willow slipped away.

'Buffy.' He spoke quietly, but she heard him clearly. She would always hear him call her name. She looked up and her expression changed from that of frustration to that of surprise, amazement, shock and finally joy. She jumped up and leapt into his waiting arms, her arms wrapping tightly around his neck, pulling him as close as possible.

'You came!' she laughed happily.

Angel let out a deep chuckle and pulled away gently. 'I'll get you all wet,' he reminded her.

Her eyes widened as if realising the state he was in for the first time, and then she beamed at him.

'You got all wet, just for me.'

'Like I'd miss you opening your results,' Angel teased.

She frowned slightly. 'Don't go thinking I've passed,' she warned, 'because I've probably failed everything.'

Angel's response was to kiss her gently before taking her hand and guiding her onto her bed. She looked at him in puzzlement when he remained standing.

'Sit down?'

Angel shook his head, smiling gently. 'I'll soak your bed.'

'Don't care.' Buffy said firmly. 'If you're not in bed then I won't be. So you either sit your butt down here now, or I'll-'

Angel laughed at her order and did as she had requested. Buffy was immediately curling up against him, not caring about his rain-soaked shirt. Angel raised his eyebrows when she began to unbutton his shirt and she said sweetly, 'You have to get this shirt off or you'll catch pneumonia.'

'Vampires can't get pneumonia.' Angel pointed out.

Buffy shrugged. 'Whatever. I just like seeing you sat on my bed shirtless. It gives me nice memories when you're gone. Can I take a photo?' she added suddenly as an after thought.

Angel grinned at her in amusement. 'You, miss Summers, deserve first prize for the ability to try and change the topic; this time the topic being you results. I, however, am a 240-year-old vampire and I've seen my fair share of tactics beloved. Rule number one; never try to deceive a guy who spent 100 years of his life deceiving others. Granted it was Angelus, but-'

'You're not being fair,' Buffy grumbled.

'I'm being your concerned boyfriend who wants to put you out of your misery by simply opening the results.' Angel corrected.

'No,' Buffy protested. 'If you were being a nice boyfriend, you would make love to me all weekend and take my mind of that envelope.'

'Trust me beloved, I have every intention of ravishing you all weekend, possibly longer if I'm not needed in LA, but first we're going to open your results.'

'I can't.' Buffy said simply.

'Okay then, I'll open them.' Angel offered.

She looked at him uncertainly for a moment before nodding reluctantly. She watched anxiously as he picked the envelope up and opened it.

'How many C's did I get?' she asked, almost reluctantly, not daring to look at Angel or that piece of paper.

'You didn't.' Angel said simply, but she didn't see the smile on his lips and the happiness in his eyes'.

Buffy felt a rush of cold flow through her. She hadn't managed to pass anything?! No, it couldn't be that bad, it couldn't.

'Aren't you going to asked me how many B's you got?' Angel prompted her.

'Fine.' She sighed; knowing there was no chance of her getting any B's. 'How many?'

'One.'

Buffy looked at him in surprise. 'Well, at least I've passed one subject,' she said softly, sadness in her eyes.

Angel shook his head. 'You passed them all.'

'I can't have done.'

'You got A's Buffy!' he said finally, and before Buffy knew what was happening he was pulling her tightly to him, his lips finding hers with a tenderness that Buffy knew could only be Angel. She pulled away breathless and stared at him in disbelief. 'I got A's?'

'You had nothing to worry about,' he said softly. 'And now you have every option imaginable available to you.'

Buffy looked into his eyes' and saw venerability there, a worry that she'd moved on with her life without him.

'You know, I was so worried about my results.' She began quietly, 'But, if I think about it, they don't really matter. They're not what are important to me. I can live without A's or B's. But I can't live without you, Angel. Whatever I chose to do, you're gonna be part of it whether you like it or not. If I have to drag you kicking and screaming with me then so be it, but-'

'You don't know how much that means to me.' Angel murmured, his voice thick with emotion.

Buffy grinned at him. 'Well, I meant every word. Now, about your earlier promise, about ravishing me? You'd better keep it, cause remember what I said about the kicking and screaming,'

Angel raised an eyebrow and smirked mischievously. 'I'm a man of my word, and rest assured that you *will* be screaming tonight, just not out of pain.'

And with that Angel proceeded to fulfil that promise.

The End
