Part 1:

Angel laughed when he saw the den door open and Liem walked out in a pair of green tights and a matching green tunic. His dusty blonde hair was hidden beneath a green cap with a red feather. Buffy walked out of the room behind him carrying a pair of pointed green shoes. She gave Angel a pointed look before sitting Liem on the edge of the table.

"Do you like my costume, Grandpa?" Liem asked swinging his short legs back and forth.

"Very cute Peter Pan." Angel smirked, coming to stand next to Buffy.

"Is Grandpa Ike coming with us?" Liem asked.

Angel chuckled at the four year old's inability to say Spike's name. "Yeah he is."

"And when I go back home I'm going to have a baby brother?"

Buffy and Angel froze. "What makes you think that?"

"Maddy at school went to her grandma's for a week and when she came home she had a baby sister."

Buffy smiled sadly at the small boy. She knew that Emma and Dante would love to have another baby, but that wasn't going to happen. Dante and Emma were miracles in and of themselves, the only half vampires in recorded history. Then Dante was turned when Liem was born. The birth was so rough on Emma's system that she was told she'd never have children again.

"No sweetie." Buffy replied. "Your not going to get a baby."

Liem's face contorted in anger and Buffy jumped bit when she saw gold tinged eyes instead of her grandson's dark brown eyes staring back at her.

"Liem, it's ok." Angel told the boy from behind Buffy. They both watched as Liem calmed down and his eyes returned their natural color.

"Liem, sweetie, why don't you go make sure we got all of your costume and grab the pillow case we laid out for you." Buffy told her grandson.

"Okay." Liem slid off the table and disappeared.

Buffy sighed loudly and started to pace. "Did you see that."

"Yes." Angel replied quietly.

"Angel what are we going to do. Oh God, what are Dante and Emma going to do..."

"Buffy, it's okay. We should have expected something like this to happen." Angel replied.

"I know, I know. But Angel, Dante and Emma didn't have any apparent physical vampiric traits."

Part 2:

Dante stretched out in the large footed bathtub, emerging himself in the hot water and bubbles. He could hear Emma padding down the hallway. Her light steps and rhythmic heart beat were always music to his ears. Slowly he closed his eyes, listening as the sounds grew closer. When he knew she was in the room he opened his eyes and smiled at her. Dante took a deep breath, as he took in his wife. He had always thought Emma was beautiful, even when they were kids Dante thought there was something about her, but that had changed as she had grown, now she was a goddess. His goddess. Emma smiled back at Dante as she sauntered closer to the tub. She placed the bottle of wine along with the glasses next to the tub, her dark hair flowing over her shoulder like a waterfall, hiding her face from Dante.

Dante continued to watch her as she stood up and slowly removed the red silk robe, letting it drop uselessly to the floor. With out any word of warning to Emma, Dante grabbed her by the arm and pulled her into the bathtub with him. Emma squealed as the hot water crested around her and spilled onto the floor.

"A little anxious are we?" Emma smirked as she adjusted herself in her husband's arms.

"The way you were taking things, I would've been waiting all night." He stated as he started to place kisses along her neck and shoulder.

Emma sighed and settled into Dante's caresses.

************

Buffy and Willow looked up in surprise as Angel and Spike walked in the house not even a full hour after they left with Liem.

"What's wrong?" Buffy demanded, noticing that Spike was caring Liem with his duster thrown high over the boy's head.

Neither vampire said a word as they passed through the living room and into the back bedroom. Immediately Buffy followed them, freezing when she reached the bedroom door.

"Buffy, what is..." Willow gasped as she stopped behind the Slayer. "Oh my goddess."

Liem sat on the bed, his arms folded across his chest, pouting. His little face was contorted and twisted by the rough vampirc ridges that ran along his forehead. Liem snarled a bit showing off small but very sharp fangs.

"Stay here, until you cool off a bit." Spike commanded, before turning and leading Willow out of the room.

Buffy watched as Angel turned to her to do the same thing. His handsome face was marred by anger and grief. He walked toward her slowly, as if a giant weight had just been placed on his shoulders. He wrapped an arm around Buffy's waist and closed the door with an eerie silence.

"What happened?" Willow asked quietly.

"Some bloody little wanker tried to steal Liem's bag-o-treats, before we knew what happened Liem had the little wanker flat on his back, waiting to go in for the kill." Spike told them. "And I mean he was out for blood. Took the both of us to pry him off the kid."

Buffy visibly shuddered at the thought. In her mind this was not good, not good at all. That uneasy sense of dread started to slowly build in the pit of her stomach. This was the first shoe to drop, she knew the second one wasn't too far behind.

"So what now?"

The question seemed to linger in the air, no one wanting to be responsible for the answer.

"Angel, call Doyle." Buffy told her husband, meeting his gaze. Angel nodded in understanding and disappeared into the kitchen.

"Who's Doyle?" Spike asked leaning forward in the chair he was sitting in.

"Someone who helped us while we were on the run. Let's just say he's got connections."

Part 3:

Angel stood in the middle of a large marble room. In front of him stood two golden humans dressed in blue togas.

"What have you brought us Warrior?" The female asked.

Angel held up a jade Chinese vase that Spike had acquired years ago. It flew from his hands to hers as she examined it, then vanished from sight.

"Why have you come?" The male asked.

"I want to know what's happening to my grandson."

"You come seeking answers that you already know?" The male responded incredulously. Angel looked at them confused. The male sighed. "Do two halves not make a whole? Your daughter, is she not half of what you are as well as her husband before he was turned."

Angel sighed and rolled his eyes toward the ceiling. "That explains nothing. I would understand it more if my daughter or Dante showed any traits like Liem. Liem's actions are not motivated by what his parents are..."

"But yes they are Warrior." The female spoke up. "Your grandson is to be a Warrior like those of you who came before him. Strong, smart and immortal." The female gave Angel a sympathetic look when she saw the pained look on his face. "The fight for evil will never truly be over, his father will teach him what he needs to know."

"What about his mother?"

"She has done what she was destined to do. She is no longer our concern." The male answered, throwing his hand up sending Angel back out into his world.

*********

Dante woke with his arms and legs entangled with Emma's. He groaned when he heard the telephone ring. He knew something had woke him from the deep sleep. He pulled slightly away from the sleeping form of his wife, his arm reaching out to grab the annoying telephone.

"Don't answer it." Emma's muffled voice told him. "It's mom."

Dante pulled away from the phone, just as the answering machine picked up the telephone call. Buffy's voice ran out loud and clear from the machine across the room. Dante smiled to himself, it was uncanny how Emma knew just by the ring that her mother was calling.

"Hi guys, I know you two are there, but I won't yell and tell you to pick up anyway. Nothing's wrong, exactly, Liem's doing...he's fine. We just need to talk, swing by later."

Emma propped herself up on her arms and looked down at Dante. "Something's wrong."

"Em...it could just be that Liem got a scratch or something, you know how your mother is." Dante replied running a hand over her face, pulling her back down to him.

"This is different, Dante. Mom's worried about something..."

Dante stroked her hair. "And we'll deal with whatever it is later."

**********

"They can't just leave Emma out in the cold like this."

"Buffy..."

"Angel, this is my daughter...our daughter...how can you not feel anything!"

"You can't imagine what I'm feeling right now!" Angel yelled. "Knowing that your daughter probably won't live to see her next birthday..." He slouched down in the chair. "This is what we worked so hard to protect her from and now there's no way around it."

Part 4:

Emma smiled brightly as she entered her parents home and found her son waiting for her. The boy shot up into her arms and Emma gratefully scooped him up into them.

"Hi baby. Did you have fun?"

Liem nodded and hugged his mother tighter. Emma grew worried.

"Liem, what's wrong?" She asked him quietly, stroking his sandy blonde hair.

"Emma?" Angel walked into the the front room. Emma felt Liem squeeze tighter, almost in fear.

"Dad, what's going on?" Emma demanded.

"Where's Dante?" Angel didn't answer her.

"Right here." Dante said, coming up to stand behind his wife. "What's going on?"

"Liem, could you go play upstairs for a little while. Grandpa and I have to talk to mommy and daddy, okay?" Buffy asked as she entered the room.

Liem nodded, slipping out of his mother's embrace. Emma waited until he was up the steps and down the hall before she turned her attentions back to her parents. Her eyes focusing directly on Angel.

"I want to know what the hell is going on and I want to know why my son is suddenly scared to death of his grandfather!"

"Come into the living room, we'll explain." Angel told them quietly.

Dante watched Emma closely as Angel and Buffy explained everything that had happened over the weekend. She had remained deathly quiet, even when they told her what the Oracles had said about her. Dante knew she was angry. He could see it burning in her eyes and prayed that she got it out of her system quickly.

Angel finished talking and let a quite settle over the room, until Emma spoke. She spoke in a low and deadly tone that sent shivers down Dante's spine and made Buffy look up, her eyes wide with horror. All because of three words.

"I hate you." She took a breath trying to quell the rage with in her, but with no prevail. "IHATE you. I hate you all."

Dante froze. That last sentence wasn't just directed at her parents, but at him as well. "Em..."

"NO!" She shouted, her rage bubbling over. "I have had everything I love taken away from me...first my parents, then my husband and now my son. All because the damn Powers see fit. I mean, hell, they had you find me before I died just so you could knock me up and give them the perfect warrior."

"EMMA!" Dante yelled, his own anger surfacing. He shot up off the couch and stood directly in front of her. His game face slipping into place as he did. This didn't stop Emma.

"I am sick of this. If the Powers don't need me, then so be it." She pushed past Dante, walking towards the front door. "I'll stay out of their business for good." She swung the door open violently. The bright white light of the sun had filtered through the morning clouds and in through the doorway, just as Dante reached to grab for Emma. His burning hand caused Dante to jerk back in pain. Emma slammed the door shut behind her as she left.

Dante roared in grief, at the loss of his mate. He picked up the small lamp beside the door and effortlessly threw it against the far wall, causing it to shatter into tiny pieces that could never be put back together.

He stalked back into the living room, where Buffy and Angel sat in silent shock of the scene that had just played out before them.

"I need sleep." Dante muttered, moving back into the back bedroom and slamming the door closed.

Part 5:

Spike paced the living room like a caged animal. His eyes were focused on Willow talking on the phone to Buffy. From the expression on her face he knew that things hadn't gone well. As Willow hung the telephone up and turned to face him, he instantly knew that things had gone very bad indeed.

"What happened?" Spike asked.

"They talked to them, Emma didn't like what she heard and stormed out." She looked up at Spike with tears in her eyes. "And Buffy doesn't think that she's coming back."

Spike pulled Willow into his arms as she started to sob. "It's ok, luv. Everything will work out for the best I promise."

He sighed, he didn't even believe his own words. "Why don't you go over and check on the Slayer and Liem. I'm going to go see if I can't talk to Emma, since Peaches and Dante don't seem to be to concerned about her."

Spike kissed her on her forehead before pulling away and going down to the sewer entrance below the house.

Spike slipped into the mansion quietly and made his way up towards the master bedroom. He found Emma sitting on the king sized bed, staring blankly into the mirror above the dresser.

"Did they send you?" She asked, bitterness coating her voice.

"No, Ducks, they didn't. They don't even know I'm here." Spike replied stepping into the room. His eyes instantly fell on the packed bags at the end of the bed. "So you really are leaving?" Spike asked a little surprised that she was actually going through with it.

She finally looked up at him. "Don't try to talk me out of this."

"Wasn't going to, Ducks." He took a seat next to her. "You have a lot of things to work out, don't need me bugging you. Hell I'll even drive you where ever you want to go."

Emma giggled. "That's ok Spike. I think I just need to be alone."

They settled into a comfortable silence for a few minuets before Emma rose and picked up her bags. "The sun's going to set in an hour, so I'm going to go ahead and go."

Spike nodded, understanding her need to get out of town before her husband and father were able to find her.

"Give Liem a kiss for me." She told him quietly.

Spike nodded again, watching sadly as she disappeared down the steps.

Dante entered the room that Liem occupied. Liem was sitting on the floor, wooden blocks scattered around him as he concentrated on the building. Dante too a seat across from his son, watching him as he built.

"Daddy?"

"Hmm." Dante looked up meeting Liem's dark brown eyes.

"Does Mommy hate me too?"

Dante stared at him in shock, realizing that he must have heard Emma's outburst earlier. "No she doesn't hate you. Mommy's just upset right now."

"Why?"

"Well...Grandpa told her some things that she wasn't happy about."

"Grandpa's upset that I got your scary face."

Dante sighed. "Liem, no one is upset with you.." He pulled Liem into his arms. "I promise."

They stayed like that until Dante heard the front door open. "Come on, that's probably Mommy."

Dante scooped Liem up into his arms and carried him down the steps only to find Spike standing in the doorway, alone.

"She left didn't she?" Dante asked, even though he already knew the answer.

Spike nodded. "Almost an hour ago."

"So we can't follow her." Angel said solemnly, coming into the room.

"Don't blame her much." Spike shrugged. "She needs to figure this out on her own and not have you two breathing down her neck."

Both Angel and Dante glared at the blonde. Spike looked up at his son. "She'll be home, just give her time."
