Dedication: To all of you who wanted a sequel.
Part 1:
Emma and Dante watched with amused smiles as Spike and Angel fought back and forth. It wasn't really fighting, it was more like two children bickering.
"And they're how old?" Dante whispered in Emma's ear.
Emma giggled, causing both male vampires to glare at them.
"You two stay out of this." Spike growled.
"Okay." Emma said brightly, grabbing Dante by the hand and leading him out the front door.
"Now what are we going to do?" Dante laughed.
"I can think of a few things." Emma purred wrapping her arms around Dante's neck.
He laughed as he claimed her lips in a gentle kiss, which was quickly deepened.
"Brings back memories doesn't it Wills." Buffy's voice broke through their passion fogged minds.
They quickly broke apart, both blushing and finding something interesting with their shoes.
"Yeah, it does." Willow giggled.
"We...um...we thought you guys weren't going to be back till late." Dante sputtered.
"Ah, we decided to skip the movie." Buffy shrugged.
"Okay, word of warning, Dad and Spike have reverted back to four year olds."
Buffy and Willow looked at each other and laughed. "Lets go break it up before we have to clean blood out of my carpet. What are you two going to do?"
"We'll patrol." They both said in unison.
**************
"We are freaks, you know." Emma said tracing a patter on Dante's arm.
"Why?" He laughed.
"Because we have to come to the cemetery to get some make out time. I mean Cass and AJ are using the mansion to study in until Graduation, at least one set of parents is usually home, or my brother."
"Em your brother is three."
Emma just gave a frustrated sigh. "I know it just seems like we have no alone time any more."
"We'll get some, eventually." He laughed and they fell into a comfortable silence.
"Em?"
"Hmmm?"
"Do you think...I mean after graduation...will you marry me." He spat out.
"What?" She rolled over to look at him.
"I want you to marry me...I mean you don't have..."
"Yes."
"Yes...really?"
Emma nodded. Dante let out a yell of pleasure and rolled over pinned Emma underneath him. He looked into her deep brown eyes, glowing bright with happiness.
"I love you Em."
She smiled and gently kissed him. "Love you to, Dante."
**************
"If you hadn't thrown the first punch we wouldn't be bloody out here." Spike grumbled.
"You deserved it." Angel shot back.
"I don't see why *WE* have to find them. They're adults."
"Don't ask me. It was Buffy's idea." Angel replied. They rounded the corner of a mausoleum and found Emma and Dante making out heavily.
"DANTE!"
"EMMA!"
Emma and Dante pulled apart and groaned.
**********
Buffy laughed when she saw Angel stalk into their bedroom. She put her book down on the nightstand and smiled up at him.
"So you found them I take it."
"Yeah," He replied gruffly pulling off his boots. "They were making out in the middle of the cemetery. They could have gotten themselves killed."
Buffy met his response with laughter. Angel turned on her with confusion in his eyes.
"Do I need to remind you of the long hours that we used to patrol Sunnydale Cemetery." She giggled. "I believe Mrs. Anderson's tomb stone was our favorite spot."
Angel sighed and crawled into bed next to Buffy. "Buffy, it's just that the last image I have of our daughter is a four year old in pigtails. The next thing I know she's eighteen..."
"And in love." Buffy smiled sadly and curled up next to Angel.
"And in love." He repeated. "I can accept that, I just don't have to like it."
Part 2:
The mansion on Crawford Street glowed brightly with candle light and the sounds of people celebrating. Emma, Dante, Cass and AJ stood in the middle of the large living room laughing as AJ tried to pop the cork from the champagne bottle. Their graduation gowns scattered across the couches and floor in a sign of relief.
"Give me that!" Dante grabbed the bottle from AJ and easily pulled the cork from the bottle.
"Damn half vampire." AJ grumbled.
Cass rolled her eyes as she produced four long stem glasses. "AJ where did you get the champagne?"
AJ smirked as he took a glass from her. "Don't ask, don't tell."
The four raised their glasses as Dante started a toast. "Ok, here's to no more Snyder."
"No more homework." AJ added.
"To sleeping in." Cass giggled.
"And to the fact the no baddies showed up tonight." Emma sighed contently.
They all smiled at each other and took a sip of the champagne. Emma and Dante stole a quick look at each other.
"What?" AJ asked quickly.
"Nothing."
"No don't say that. You two have been acting weird for the past month now spill it." Cass demanded.
"Dante asked me to marry him." Emma said simply.
"What?! When?! Emma!"
"We haven't told anyone yet." Dante put in taking a seat on the couch.
"Meaning your parents?" AJ asked raising an eyebrow.
"We just haven't brought it up yet." Emma said, sitting on Dante's lap. "You guys have to promise you won't say anything."
"I promise. AJ?" Cass said.
"What?! I won't say anything." He held his hands up.
"Just checking." Cass replied smirking. "Walk me home AJ."
"Cass we just..."
"*WALK* me home AJ."
AJ finally caught the hidden meaning in Cass' sparkling dark eyes and nodded. They left leaving Emma and Dante alone.
"I've got something for you." Emma said into Dante's neck.
Dante smiled at her. "You didn't have to do that."
Emma just smiled. "Hand me my bag."
Dante leaned over the couch and handed the bag over to Emma. She quickly delved into the bag and pulled out a medium sized velvet box.
"When I found out that my parents were still alive and I burned all of their stuff and...well there was one thing I didn't throw into the fire place."
She opened the box to reveal to silver rings, the candle light glinting off the hands holding the crowned heart.
"It's a Claddagh. The hands represent friendship, the crown for loyalty, and the heart for love." She took the larger ring out of the box and then took Dante's left hand in hers and placed it on his ring finger, the heart pointing inward.
"A Claddagh." Dante said quietly, taking out the smaller ring and placing it on the her left ring finger, like she had done with him. "The hands for friendship, the crown for loyalty, and the heart for love." He repeated. "You wear it with the heart pointing toward you, it means you belong to someone." He added.
Dante looked down at their joined hands their matching rings glowing in the firelight. He brought his hand up and caressed her face, bring her down so that he could kiss her. Their kiss turned passionate accompanied by frantic groping. They fell back on the couch, a mass of tangled arms and legs. Reluntly Dante pulled away.
"Are you sure Em?" Dante asked looking down at her, her face flushed with passion and her lips swollen.
"Yes." She wrapped her arms around his neck and kissed him again.
He scooped her up in his arms and carried her to the master bedroom.
Part 3:
Emma woke slowly to find Dante watching her and smiling. She smiled and snuggled into him.
"Can we stay here?" she asked.
He kissed her softly. "No we need to go home. It's almost 1:30, your dad's going to be waiting up for you."
Emma sighed and slowly got out of bed. She pulled on her jeans and sweater and started looking around on the floor for her boots.
"You know Em, you've got a good idea."
Emma stood up holding one boot, looking at Dante. "What about?"
"Us staying here." He responded, turning on his side and propping his head on his elbow.
Emma sat down on the edge of the facing him. "You want us to move in here?"
Dante reached out and traced patterns along her ankle. "I just thought...we don't have to."
"I agree. I mean this place holds so many memories for us. Some good and some bad, but I think that the good memories out weigh the bad."
She moved so she was laying on her side facing him. "And I think there are more good memories to be made."
He groaned and buried his face in her neck. "You need to leave."
"So do you." She whispered back.
Emma sighed heavily and kissed him one last time before slipping on her boots and leaving.
**************
Angel was pacing the front of the living room when Emma entered the house.
"Where have you been?" He asked.
"Celebrating with AJ, Cass and Dante. No biggy."
"Could've called." He replied.
"Mom knew. I told her I'd be home late."
"And I told your father that about a dozen different times." Buffy said coming into the room, glaring up at Angel. "Did you have a good time?" Buffy asked quickly hugging Emma.
"Yeah." She looked at her parents and shifted uncomfortably. "It's late and I'm tired, so I'm going to go to bed."
Emma quickly made her way up the steps to her bed room. Angel staired wistfully after her.
"Is she ever going to be comfortable around us?" Angel asked Buffy.
"It's going to take some time Angel."
"It's been almost a year."
"It's going to take a lot more than an year of being in her life to make up for the thirteen that we were out of it."
Part 4:
Emma hung her over the toilet letting everything she had eaten the night before come up. She slowly sat down and leaned back against the bathtub, waiting for her stomach to clam down. When she felt it was safe she slowly stood up and walked to the vanity. She quickly rinsed her mouth out and looked in the mirror. She sighed. She couldn't quite figure out what was wrong with her. She was never sick, it was one of the benefits of being half vampire.
"What is wrong with me?" She closed her eyes briefly. When she opened her eyes, she saw a half full box of tampons.
Her mind immediately went into overdrive. How long had it been since her last period. It was October now, she had one in August she remembered, because with the cramps she had she didn't want to get out of bed. But September had been a total blank. She knew something had been off.
She quickly left the bathroom, grabbed her jacket and keys and ran down the steps.
"Where are you off to in such a rush?" Angel's voice stopped her. He was sitting in the floor playing some kind of game with her brother.
"I'm...I'm going over to Cass'. I'll probably be home late." She said hurridly and ran out the door.
Angel looked at his son and sighed. "I just don't get your sister Micah."
**************
Cass opened the door quickly when she saw Emma. "What's wrong?"
Emma entered the house and pulled her friend up to her bedroom and shut the door behind them. Emma then emptied the brown paper sack she held in her hand onto the bed. Cass immediately picked up the home pregnancy test and looked up at Emma.
"Your pregnant?!"
"Shhh. I don't know Cass. That's why I bought the test. This is the only reason I can think of for why I've been puking my guts out every day for the past week."
"What are you going to do if you are?" Cass asked her solemnly.
"Tell Dante and go from there." Emma took the test back from Cass and went into her bathroom. She came out ten minuets later holding the plastic wand in her hand.
"It's positive." She slowly sat down on the bed. "I'm going to have a baby, Cass." Her hands went to her flat stomach and she started to smile. Instantly she felt protective of the new life growing inside her.
Cass sat down next to her and wrapped an arm around her shoulder.
"Do you think Dante is going to be upset?"
Cass smiled at her. "Dante no, I don't he could ever be mad at you. I do think you two are going to have to tell your parents now, about everything. How have you two gone seven months without telling them?"
Emma giggled and shrugged. "I don't know. You really don't think he'll be mad."
"No, I don't." Cass insisted and then smiled. "And if he is I'll have Mama curse him."
Emma laughed. "Thanks Cass."
"Hey what are best friends for."
Emma sighed and stood up, wiping away tears that she hadn't known were there. "Well I'm off to see the father to be. If my father calls just cover for me, will you?"
"Sure."
*************
"Dante!" Emma called into the mansion. The living room was empty, but there was a fire roaring in the fireplace. Candles were lit along most of the flat open areas, including the stone steps that led upstares. Smiling, Emma followed them up to the master bed room. There was a fire lit in that fire place and Dante was sitting on the bed with a tray of food.
"What do you think?" He asked her.
"I'm trying to think what you've done." She smirked, placing her bag by the hardwood dresser and climbed into the bed with him.
He pulled her into his arms. "Can't I do something romantic for the woman I love, with out having done something wrong?"
"I guess. Now what did you do?"
"Mom knows that were planning on getting married."
"Dante..."
"I couldn't help it. She cornered me." He sighed, running a hand threw her thick dark hair. "She promised me she wouldn't tell anyone until we were ready to."
"That maybe sooner than we think."
"Why?"
Emma pulled away and stood up. "Dante...I'm...we're going to have a baby."
"You sure?"
"95% sure. I took one of those home test thingies."
Before Emma knew it Dante had her in his arms and was spining her around.
"You're not upset?"
Dante smiled. "Upset, why would I be?"
"I mean we're still young and we're no where close to getting married..."
She was cut off when he kissed her. "It's okay Em. We'll make it ok."
Part 5:
"Wait, Dante, I can't do this." Emma said suddenly pulling him to a stop outside his home.
"Yes you can. We agreed we'd tell them on my birthday, that's today." He replied without turning around, but when she still didn't move he turned to face her. His heart sank when he saw the panic etched across her face. "Emma, we need to tell them. Everything. We can't hide this any more." He placed a hand on her stomach and rested his forehead against hers. "Dad and Angel are going to start picking up on the baby's heart beat."
Emma giggled. All that was happening to her was so unreal to her. He smiled and ran a finger along her jaw line.
"It's going to be ok Em." He promised her and they resumed their walk toward the house.
They slowly entered the house to find the waiting stares of Buffy, Angel, Spike and Willow.
"Where they hell have you two been, it's almost 1:00." Angel demanded as they stepped into the house.
Spike grinned. Angel was always doing the overprotective father thing, but now it was starting to get annoying. Especially when he was doing it with his son.
"Hey, Peaches lay off a bit will you."
Angel glared over at Spike. "They need to hear this, Spike..."
"*MY* son knows what the bloody hell he was doing..."
"What are you saying my daughter doesn't..."
"Well she is the Slayer's daughter..."
The two vampires got nose to nose, yelling at each other. By this time Emma was sobbing on Dante's shoulder.
"ENOUGH!" Buffy shouted over the yelling. Angel and Spike stopped and faced their wives. Both Willow and Buffy looked like they were ready to stake them, and so did Dante. He quietly pulled Emma into the next room, she didn't need all of the stress.
**********
"You should have let me die." Emma sobbed.
Dante held onto her tighter. "Emma, please don't say that."
Emma sobered a little when she saw the hurt in his eyes. "I'm sorry."
She slowly stopped crying and just let Dante hold onto her. They stayed like that for what seemed like hours, only to be broken apart by Angel when he entered the room.
"Dante, I need to talk to Emma alone for a few minutes."
Dante glared over at Angel, then looked down at Emma. She nodded and gave him an 'It's okay' look. A small growl escaped Dante's lips as he passed Angel and made his way back to the front room.
Angel sighed heavily as he walked over to the chair across from Emma. He looked at her and tried to think of what to say. She wasn't the little girl he used to know any more, she had become this beautiful young woman.
"Emma, I'm sorry and I know I shouldn't worry about you, but I do. You have grown into such a beautiful woman, but all I can see when I look at you is the little girl that used to run around the mansion in one of my shirts."
He sighed again when she didn't respond and stood up to leave.
"I remember that." She finally replied quietly. She looked up at Angel, her brown eyes met his. "They used to swallow me."
Angel gave her a crooked grin, that spread into a full fledge smile when she smiled back at him. At last they had found some common ground, even though it wasn't very much. She stood up slowly and hugged him.
"We need to go back into the other room. There's a few things Dante and I have to tell you."
****************
Emma walked into the front room closely followed by Angel. She took a seat on Dante's lap and smiled at him. He wrapped his arms around her.
"Everything all right?" He asked.
"Yeah."
"So what's the big news you two have to tell us?" Spike asked folding his arms across his chest.
Emma smiled. "Dante asked me to marry him and I said yes."
"And we want to move into the mansion when we do." Dante added.
Buffy and Willow broke out into huge grins.
"I knew it!" Buffy exclaimed.
Angel had a stoic expression on his face. Spike started to snicker. "Looks like we're going to be a true family after all Peaches."
Emma watched her father carefully as she took a deep breath to tell them the last little part of their news. "There's one more thing. I'm pregnant."
Part 6:
Willow and Buffy looked at each other and squealed. The thought of being grandmothers never even crossed their mind.
"You're what?!" Spike and Angel yelled at the same time.
Buffy shot up out of the chair and stood in front of both vampires hands firmly planted on her hips. "Oh no you don't. You two are not going to screw this up by throwing a tantrum."
"Buffy..."
"No, Angel. Be happy now, throw tantrum later." She turned to Spike. "That goes for you too, Blondie."
They both sat down with a huff. Buffy smiled and turned to face Dante and Emma, who were trying to hold back smiles.
"Now, you two, we have a lot to talk about, but it's late. So we'll talk tomorrow. Dante take Emma home." She smiled at Emma. "We'll be home in a few minutes."
Emma took Dante's hand and they left.
************
Buffy woke slowly to find herself alone in bed. She glanced over at the clock, 4:45. She sat up and looked around the room to find the balcony doors open. She got out of bed and went to the door.
"Angel?" She walked out onto the balcony to see Angel sitting in a lounge chair his feet propped up on the side railing.
She placed a hand on his shoulder. "What are you doing?"
"I couldn't sleep." He replied softly, placing a kiss on her hand.
She looked over his shoulder to see the photo album laying open on his lap. "What is that?"
"Emma's baby book."
Buffy smiled as she got a closer look at one of the pictures. It was of her and Willow sitting on the couch in the mansion living room. Their feet were propped up on the coffee table and their resting gently on their swollen stomachs. Buffy remembered when the picture was taken. She had been five months pregnant with Emma and Willow had been a very uncomfortable eight and a half months pregnant with Dante.
"You seem to have clammed down some." She said rubbing the back of his neck
"Yeah, looking at this has helped." He sighed and closed the album. "You weren't much older than Emma when you were pregnant with her. And Dante loves her."
"I'm glad you see that now."
"It's in his eyes. I've seen him when Emma's not around and he looks so lost. Then I seen him when she walks into the same room and it's like balance has been restored." He took her hand and gently pulled her to sit in his lap. He rested his head on her shoulder. Buffy gently ran her hand though his hair.
"Buffy?"
"Hmmm?"
"Emma tried to kill herself."
Buffy sat up strait and looked down at him. "What?"
"When she tried to kill herself after she found out we were still alive."
"How do you know?"
"Spike told me a few day after we talked to her that he thought she tried to do something, he could smell her blood all over the floor in front of the fire place at the mansion. Then tonight when I went to talk to her, I overheard part of her and Dante's conversation that confirmed it."
Angel saw the panic flash across her face. He pulled her close. "Don't worry, love. She was confused and angry. Everything is looking up. For all of us."
Part 7:
Buffy rubbed the underside of Emma's wrists, mentally willing the scars to vanish from her daughter's flesh. They sat on the couch, both crying. They had been talking for what seemed like hours. Buffy had been crying since the start of the conversation, seeing her cry Emma remembered why she had tried so hard to hide what she did. That's when Emma broke down. Now they sat in a comfortable silence, sniffling.
"Well, this has been fun." Emma said breaking the silence. "I just wish I could tell if this was hormones or not."
Buffy laughed through her tears. "I remember those days." She sighed and released her daughter's hands. "Okay, no more talk about this. It's in the past, and I've learned that it's best to leave the things like that in the past."
"Okay." Emma said quietly.
Buffy pulled Emma into a tight hug. Angel watched from the shadows of the doorway at mother and daughter. A slight pang twisting in his unbeating heart.
*************
Buffy smiled proudly at her daughter as she twist and turned in front of the full length mirror in her bedroom. Buffy had found her wedding gown in the attic and to her surprise had fit Emma extremely well.
"It's a little tight in the waist." Emma muttered, running a hand down the front of the gown.
"Emma, you were saying the same thing about your jeans this morning. You're pregnant, things get a little tight in the waist." Buffy laughed.
"MOMMMMYYYYY!!!" A shrill scream broke through the house.
"I better go see what your brother got himself into this time." Buffy groaned, as she got up and left.
"Okay." Emma replied not really paying much attention. So much so that she jumped nearly a foot when she heard her father's voice from behind her.
"You look beautiful." Angel said casually leaning up against the door.
Emma quickly turned around. "Thanks."
A silence quickly fell over them as Angel continued to look at her. In little over a week Giles would be giving her away. Pain tore through Angel's heart. She had asked Giles to giver her away, not him. Why not, Giles had been the one to raise her.
"Dad?" Emma's soft voice brought him out of his troubled thoughts.
"Hmmm?"
She picked up the layered skirts of the gown and walked over to him so there was only a few inches between them.
"Can I ask you something?" She looked up at him with eyes that mirror his own.
"Yeah."
"Will you walk me down the aisle?"
Angel was dumbfounded. "But I thought..."
"He isn't my father. I want you to do it."
"Yes." Was all Angel was able to say.
Emma smiled up at him and enveloped him in a hug, that Angel was more than happy to return.
"I love you, daddy."
Angel smiled. The last piece of their broken world had just fallen back into place. He wasn't sure how long it was going to last, but he some how knew it would.
