It was a sunny Californian afternoon, and the Slayer was awaiting her tardy boyfriend so that they could go on a picnic. She stood in the middle of the Quad, arms folded tightly over her chest, and paced nervously. Something was stirring deeply inside of her, something that made her feel all warm and fuzzy inside, something good was going to happen. She felt a warm hand on her shoulder, and turned to smile at Riley, choosing not to tell him of the feeling in her gut that something was going to make their world go topsy turvey.

It was then that she saw it, saw HIM. Angel was standing only a few yards away…in broad daylight. Wonder lit her face, and for the moment, they were the only two people in the world as she stared at him. Angel grinned at her, and began a powerful stride to meet up with her. He did not yield when he stood only inches away, but pulled her into his arms and kissed her fiercely. Surprising Riley, his girlfriend did not pull away from this stranger, but pulled him closer, wrapping her arms tightly around him as she returned his searching kiss.

Tears of utter joy spilled down her face as her legs slowly rose up and found purchase around Angel's waist, pressing as tightly against him as was physically possible while they were in public. She was startled to learn that Angel was crying as well. She'd only seen him cry twice before, once that night at the docks where everything had gone so wrong, and again when he'd come back from Hell, so confused and frightened.

Buffy whimpered as he broke the kiss, and Angel's grin grew wider. "I love you," he murmured, pressing his forehead against hers, tears mingling on their close cheeks. Her arms encompassed his neck, and she smiled back at him.

"I love you. I love you. I love you," she went on and on, punctuating each 'I love you' with a brief, but fierce kiss. Finally she ceased, and pulled back, blinking slightly, her hand moving to feel the pulsing of his heart beneath his chest. She looked at him in wonder before pressing her head into the crook of his neck and tightening the grip of her arms. "Please don't leave me again," she whispered.

"Not even if you kill me," he murmured, nuzzling her hair, her cheek, her ear, what ever part of her he could touch, he did with such rapture that people were stopping to watch. He changed the way that he supported her weight, swinging her around bridegroom style, and with a silly grin, began to carry her off into the metaphorical sunset. Riley simply stood there in a stupor, unable to believe what he'd just seen happen.

Part Two:

Buffy woke slowly from what could only be described as a euphoric cloud nine. Rolling over, she snuggled against the warm body that lay beside her, grateful that he still had that vampire stamina, it wouldn't have been the same without it. "I thought I was dreaming," she mumbled, curling up against his back.

"God must have let one of his angels come to heaven by mistake, because you're too perfect to be real," Angel murmured, turning to face his sleepy mate. The Slayer made a soft purring noise, and burrowed her head under his arm.

"You know, these little things make life worth living for," Buffy whispered, pressing a kiss on the tip of his nose.

"What's that?" he asked, his voice a little husky.

"The simple joy of waking up in your arms for one," she answered, sighing happily. Angel took her into his arms once more and began to tire her out again.

The End

AN: I know, very, very dumb, but I needed some senseless fluff 'cause I can't think of an actual story to go with this. Um…the other story I'm writing, I Miss What I Had, has been sent to a beta, and the next two parts will be posted as soon as they're sent back. Until then, I'm finishing up some insane pieces that have been bouncing in my head since I came back from Jamaica.
