Author’s Note: Short little piece of fluff, just me fixing some of the angst that was S2. Hope y’all like… maybe I’ll do a sequel?

Buffy walked along the deserted streets of Sunnydale. The crisp cool breeze causing her to shiver, unconsciously she pulled her sweater closer to her body.

She picked up her pace. She needed to find Giles, tell him that the spell had worked and Angelus, thankfully, could not enter her home anymore; and then she wanted to sneak back in her house, slip underneath her warm comforter, and just sleep through the next century.

Since the morning after her birthday her life had been a complete disaster, and Buffy even felt that was understating it. She had to deal with the Judge, Spike and Drusilla, and Angelus. Her body, her mind, and her heart still felt compelled to run into Angel’s arms when the uglies came out still not remembering that now he is the reason for most.

It tore her up inside, remembering what they had. Their night- a night she would never change for anything or anyone. There was love, passion, lust, and every other adjective Buffy could think of. It was perfect.

Their night had been slightly hampered however this evening when Angelus had used it against her and told Joyce. Buffy could see the shock and disappointment in Joyce’s eyes, but Buffy did not have time to deal with that right now, she had more important things, like saving the world from Angelus… and right now, seeing Giles. All in all, Buffy would rather be doing anything then sitting and talking with her mother about sex.

She could start to make out Sunnydale High in the distance, she was getting close. Thank God. Picking up her pace she began to jog, knowing Giles would be proud- she was training, sort of. As she neared the school she could feel her spider sense start to tingle, vampires she groaned. She only had one stake and really did not feel up to the task right now. She wished she could just have one day, one normal day off. Normal of course being the key word, no Halloween stunts, just a night with her friends doing the average Joe teenage things. But since that would never happen, Buffy pushed the thought from her mind.

Walking into the high school, Buffy went straight for the library, hoping that Giles would be there, it would be her luck the one time she went there first and he’d be at his apartment.

Walking past the computer room, Buffy gave a quick look inside. She could make out part of a figure; she assumed was Jenny, why she was there so late Buffy did not know. She heard the computer and the clicking of the keyboard. Buffy continued walking, still upset that the woman had betrayed her, betrayed Giles.

Buffy blamed the gypsy for the whole Angelus ordeal. True she had been the one to give him his one moment of pure happiness but if Jenny had known she should have spoke up- said something- saved Angel. Buffy could feel her anger well up at the thought. All of this could have been avoided, she could be in the arms of her Angel right now, not worrying about the next time Angelus will attack or what he will do.

Giles was asleep at his desk, his head resting on a pile of books. He looked exhausted, even in his sleep Buffy did not have the heart to wake him. She gave a small, sympathetic smile to her watcher, her father, and left the library. She would tell him in the morning about the spell.

Buffy did not want to pass by the computer room again in fear of running into Jenny; unfortunately there was no other way out, at least at this time of night.

Passing the room she could have sworn she heard the woman talking. Pausing, she listened more closely. The gypsy woman was in fact talking to herself. Was she that lonely, or just insane. Shrugging it off she was about to continue walking till she heard a male voice.

The brunette could not be seeing someone new? What about Giles? And even casting the watcher aside, she should not be off gallivanting having fun while others are suffering- and at her expense. Taking a step closer, she leaned in as far as she could without being seen or heard.

“The Orb of Thesulah. If memory serves, this is supposed to summon a person’s soul… from the ether, store it until it can be transferred.”

Orb of what, summon souls? Buffy had just heard a lot of very confusing information from a voice that sounded remarkably similar to Angel, or Angelus she corrected herself. She needed to get closer, but if she did she’d be seen or heard, either being bad.

Looking into the room as best she could from her angle, she saw the room begin to glow, casting shadows.

“You know what I hate most about these things?”

The voice continued, reaffirming Buffy’s suspicions, it was indeed Angelus, which meant trouble. Wasting no time the blonde slayer was in the room.

“What, lover?”

Both occupants turned upon hearing the new voice, surprised.

As quickly as Buffy had seen the surprise on her former lover’s face it had vanished, only to be replaced by his cocky smile.

“I don’t have time for you.” He stated bored and not really caring about the blonde, or at least at the present time, still holding onto the fragile crystal ball, bouncing it up and down slightly in his hands. “I need some help.”

Buffy said nothing, looking back and forth between the demon inhabiting her lover’s body and the gypsy woman, before resting her gaze on Angelus.

Holding up the orb for Buffy and Jenny to see, “You see this, this is my cure, but ya know déjà vu just isn’t what it used to be.” Angelus started out.”

Slowly everything was starting to make sense to Buffy. Jenny had been here working on a way to restore Angel’s soul… although it wouldn’t make up for what she did, Buffy thought stubbornly; but that was not the point at the moment. Angelus held his fate in his hand bouncing it up and down. Her eyes widened in terror upon the realization.

“You know what I hate most about these things?” He repeated, this time not waiting for a response, “They’re so damn fragile.” With that said he launched the crystal ball at the chalkboard.

Kicking into high gear Buffy ran, throwing herself in front of the black board, catching the crystal ball in her hands as she fell to the floor. Her heart was going a mile a minute, her adrenaline on overdrive. Taking a sigh of relief Buffy smiled, she caught it.

“Now what did you do that for?”

Her smile faded as she remembered Angelus was still in the room. Stepping to her feet, Buffy maneuvered around Angelus setting the ball on Jenny’s desk. “Fix it.” She stated simply.

“I thought we were having fun.” Angelus continued speaking looking over the blonde’s shoulder to the brunette, watching what she was doing. The orb was getting brighter; Angelus would not return to his pansy self, he would not.

“Tons of fun.” The slayer stated dryly, trying to think of a way to get Angelus out of the room and away from the gypsy, who had started chanting softly.

“Now, now. Let’s not be doing some mumbo jumbo magic.” Angelus ordered, making his way towards Jenny.

Jenny looked up from her paper, scared, but not stopping with the spell.

Buffy kicked her leg out, kicking the demon in the groin, causing him to fall to his knees wincing in pain. She smiled that should hold him for a second or so, buying the slayer time to think of a plan.

Holding his groin in pain, Angelus looked up at the slayer angrily. “That’s gonna cost you slayer.” Getting up on shaky legs he headed towards the blonde, anger in his eyes.

Buffy kicked out her foot again, this time Angelus blocked it, twisting her leg and pushing her down on the floor.

Landing on the floor with a thud Buffy rubbed her ankle before hopping back up. Angelus morphed into his demon face rushing towards Buffy. Buffy barely had time to recover by the time Angelus was standing over her, taking another swing at her. Dodging his swing she brought her knees up, kicking him in his gut sending him flying on the floor as well.

“Gods, bind him. Cast his heart from the evil realm.” Jenny continued to chant louder, causing both heads to turn her way.

Both enemies hopped to their feet, Angelus making a beeline towards the gypsy trying to restore his humanity, Buffy steeping in front, landing several blows to her enemy. After the forth one, he blocked her, taking a swing himself. Forgetting once again temporarily about the brunette still in the room.

Angelus grabbed a desk from the room, throwing it at the slayer, ducking, the table missed her and crashed to the floor in a loud thud at the back of the room. Still on the floor and close enough to Angelus, Buffy kicked her legs out, sweeping Angelus’s feet out from under him, and then scrambled back to her feet.

“Lasa orbita sa fie vasul care-i va transporta, sufletul la el.”

Still on his knees Angelus takes three or so hits on Buffy, knocking her down as well. Advancing on her Buffy scoots back, trying to get up and away form the undead monster.

Shaking his head, he morphed back into his human face, his face growing soft, he looked down at Buffy with pleading eyes, he looked at her the way Angel had. “Buffy.”

The monster wearing her lover’s face slowly advanced towards her, giggling, a laugh less giggle. Just close enough to her, Buffy kicked out her leg hitting the demon sending him flying across the room. Before he could get all the way on his feet she swung at him, sending him back to the ground. Wailing on the demon Buffy throws a couple more punches and blows, letting all her frustration out form the past couple of months. Holding back the tears that wanted to fall. She would not allow Angelus the privilege of seeing her cry.

“Acum!” The orb glowed very brightly for a brief second before it went black. Jenny sighed, relaxing looking around the room.

Buffy was about to give Angelus another blow to the head when she heared him gasp loudly and groan in pain. His eyes changed a bight red before they return to normal color. He collapsed on the floor, crying. Steadying himself he looked up at his lover’s eyes.

“Buffy?” He questioned, confused, not remembering what had happened. “What’s going on?”

She looked at him and then quickly over to Jenny who sat at her desk a smile on her face. It had worked. It worked the spell.

Dropping to her knees she took his face in her arms, “Angel?”

“Oh, Buffy… God,” He stated, taking her in his arms. “I feel like I haven’t seen you for months.”

Buffy says nothing, just accepts his hug, closing her eyes breathing a deep sigh of relief. Her Angel had returned.

Pulling away, Angel kisses her, tenderly nipping her on her lips till she allowed his tongue to enter her mouth.

She cried at the wonderful sensation. It had been too long since she had felt this way, too long since he had taken her in his arms and held her. She cried, finally letting her frustration, pain, and anger out.

“What’s happening?” He asked, confused about everything, worried about her crying. Stroking her head, he ran his hands through her hair, soothingly, trying to calm his blonde slayer. He hated seeing her upset.

“I love you.” Buffy stated, not answering his question.

“I love you.” Angel whispered back.

Buffy kissed him gingerly. She knew everything was not perfect. She still had her mom to worry about, and then there was Giles and the Scooby gang, she was pretty sure she knew how’d they react to the news Angel was back, there was Spike and Drusilla as well, and then the fact that Angel did not remember what had happened, but at the moment none of that mattered. She was in the arms of her Angel again. He was back.

Jenny smiled, having witnessed the lovers’ reunion. She longed for what they had, quietly getting out of her seat, she walked passed the two lovers who sat on the floor embraced in each others arms, taking comfort in it. She was to meet Giles tonight, to try and make right what she had done wrong.

Tonight the restoration of passion had taken place.

//Without passion, we’d be truly dead//

The End
