Ok people here's a new fic, it's a Buffy/Angel fic with lots of Spikey
goodness because I just love that combination.
Summary: Instead of going to Buffy and the gang after being captured by the
initiative Spike goes to Angel, the initiative follow him and Buffy follows
them.
Timeline: The Initiative happened, but this takes the place of Pangs and the
rest of season 4 after that didn't happen.
Rating: Basically if you watch the show go right ahead only a bit of
swearing and mention of violence
Disclaimer: The characters are not mine and never will be which causes me
neverending depression but the story is mine, so please don't sue because
I'm broke and have nothing to give.
Distribution: Spike's Slaves, Land of Denial and anyone else as long as you
ask I love to know where my fic is going.
Feedback: Pretty please?!
Bang Bang Bang! "Ok alright, hang on a minute will you!" Angel made his way up to the ground level of his business/apartment to answer the door. He was on his own today, Cordelia was at an audition and Doyle was out doing something.
He opened the door and stood there in shock at the sight of the person standing at the door.
"Well aren't you going to invite me in peaches?"
"Spike? What the hell are you doing here?"
"Come on Angelus, let me in. I'll explain everything."
"Alright then come in. But one wrong move and I'll torture you worse than your little friend did to me for the Ring of Amara." Angel growled the threat knowing that Spike knew he could carry it out.
"Yeah, yeah, hurry up and shut the door. Someone might see me."
Angel let Spike in and took him down to his basement apartment, sensing that it was going to be a long story as to why Spike, his most bitter enemy, had come to visit.
Spike flopped onto Angel's couch looking absolutely worn out and beaten up. Angel stood over him waiting for an explanation.
"Well? What's going on Spike?"
"Alright peaches calm down. You see it's like this. I was back in bloody Sunnyhell, some bad shit happened and I need your help." It all came out in such a rush that Angel barely caught it and it took him a couple of minutes to break it down and realise that spike had come to him for help without telling him why or and what happened.
"Spike, if you don't tell me what exactly has happened and why you've come to me for help in the next ten seconds I'm going to kick your ass and then throw you out onto the street." He wouldn't seeing as how Spike had to be in a lot of trouble to come to him but Spike didn't need to know that.
"Oh bloody hell! Well after that debacle over the Gem I went back to Sunnydale for some reason. Things were going ok, I had some minions and I was making up new plans to kill that bloody Slayer" at this Angel growled threateningly at Spike.
"Look do you want to hear the rest of this story or not?" Spike was getting nervous about telling his sire the next part and covered it with his usual sarcasm.
"Anyway after a few weeks I was out hunting one night when I got hit with something from behind. At first I thought it was your pet but that isn't her style. Whatever they hit me with was really strong, it paralysed me. I couldn't move and these guys in army gear carried me off to some science lab underground. When I woke up I was in a glass cell that gave me shocks whenever I touched the glass. They gave me drugged blood so I was out of it for a while but then I caught on and barely touched the stuff. They would come in once a day and shock me with some electric gun then carry me into a lab and do all these tests on me. They tested my pain levels, I think they were surprised by how much I could take but then they don't know my sire. They wanted to know all about me and other vampires but I told them bugger all except my name. I know it wasn't a good move but they forced it out of me."
"How did they just ask you?" Angel interrupted the story with a smirk, knowing how easily Spike could be provoked.
"No smart ass, one of them asked if I had a name but then the head honcho bitch said that I wasn't human and didn't have a name and to call me Hostile 17. Well at that I got a little pissed off and told her that I was William the Bloody, one of the most feared vampires in the world second only to my sire Angelus, the Scourge of Europe."
"Spiike," angel groaned when he heard this.
"Do you have any idea of how much trouble that is going to cause me? Couldn't you have just kept your mouth shut for once?"
"Well I couldn't help it. I was angry and it just slipped out." Spike said with his perfected innocent face.
"What am I going to do with you?" Angel mutterred more to himself than Spike.
Upon hearing this Spike grinned cockily and said, "You're going to help me."
"What makes you so sure about that?" Angel replied.
"Because that's what you do. Because of that nancy-boy soul you help people in trouble, you can't not help me or you'll feel too guilty. We both know you're going to help me so stop pretending Angelus."
"Fine, just finish the story." Angel had forgotten just how frustrating it was dealing with Spike, not only because of his attitude but also because having lived with his for 100 years Spike still knew him better than most people.
"Where was I? Oh yeah, when I told the bitch our names all of the pillocks went really pale and stepped back, so obviously we still have our reputations, and I couldn't help laughing at them, god, the looks on their faces were so funny. It was hilarious! but I think that's when the bitch finally got fed up with me. I'd resisted all her attempts at torture, I had no fear and then I laughed at her. she ordered me strapped onto an operating table and then they drugged me into unconciousness. They must have operated on my head because when I woke up again in my cell I had a huge headache and when one of the soldiers came into the cell I tried to take him out as usual but when I grabbed him my head went into overdrive. I got this great bloody pain and it didn't stop till I let go of the boy. They sent a few more of the soldiers into my cell and it happened every time I touched one of them. I'm helpless Angelus! I can't hurt a bloody thing, well no humans anyway I can still hurt demons so I can still whoop your ass, but I can't feed or kill. What am I going to do? You have to help me Angelus."
"Oh hell. I'm sorry Spike."
"No you're bloody well not! You're happy that I can't hurt any of your precious humans anymore."
"Well I think it's good that you can't hurt humans but I am sorry. I went through some of the same thing when I got my soul back and I know how hard it is but it has to be even harder for you since you're still soulless."
"Why should you care how I feel?"
"Because it doesn't matter how much you try to deny it you are still my childe and I still have my demon and at the moment it's howling to get out and go after those who did this to you. And I'm tempted to let it out, but I can't because it wouldn't stop there."
"Yeah whatever." Spike turned his face away from Angel as he didn't want him to see how much it meant to him that he still cared.
"Ok so how did you escape? I'm assuming they didn't just let you go."
"No I stayed quiet and watched their movements, the soldiers and the scientists, figured out their routines and then I made nice with the demon in the next cell, don't know what kind he was one of the big strong dumb ones and he wasn't chipped so he could still take out the soldiers. Most of them went patrolling at night and the scientists were never around so one night we pretended to drink the drugged blood and when one of the soldiers came to check on us I had the demon attack him and take his passkey. We went around opening the other cells and releasing the other vamps and demons. In the confusion with the soldiers trying to contain the others I slipped out through the air vents and hauled ass out of there to here."
"Ok well is there anything else I need to know?"
"Weeell.."
"Out with it Spike!"
"Shame on you, so impatient. Alright if you must know I recognised one of the commandos."
"Who was it?"
"It was your pet's new boyfriend." Spike watched carefully and was rewarded with seeing the pain and anger cross Angel's face. After all he couldn't kill humans anymore he had to get his fun somehow.
"Well you'll have to stay here for a while, it's too dangerous for you to be out on the streets. I'd say that they know by now you've escaped but they shouldn't be able to pick up your trail. Wait a minute, how did you get here?"
"I went back to Willie's and picked up the DeSoto and drove here, I wasn't going to walk the whole way."
"Dammit Spike, don't you ever use that brain in your head?"
"What?"
"These soldiers track you to Willie's, they ask about you and me, Willie tells them everything including the well known fact that I'm here in L.A and we have them barging in the doors in a few hours. Ok never mind, how long has it been since you left Willie's?"
"About 3 hours or so."
"Alright if they're going to come it will be tonight and probably pretty soon so we need to get ready." Angel walked to his weapons cabinet and started pulling out various weapons.
"But Angel, there's lots of them and I can't fight them at all."
"Don't worry I'll figure something out."
Just then they heard a door open and slam closed followed by things being thrown around.
"Probably just Cordelia." Angel replied to Spike's questioning look.
"Cordy is that you?" He yelled up the elevator shaft.
"Who else would it be? It's not like we get many walk-in clients." She yelled back.
"Guess the audition didn't go well." He gestured for Spike to follow him as he got into the elevator to go up and see Cordelia.
"Hi Cordy."
"Oh hey Angel" she responded turning around to face him.
"Aaaahh!" She screamed shrilly and jumped against the wall at the sight of Spike standing with Angel. The door banged open as Doyle raced in.
"What? What's wrong?" He asked taking in Cordelia cowering against the wall. He caught sight of Spike laughing his head off and understood the problem. "Oh.Ah, Angel man, what's going on?"
"Yeah," added Cordelia, relaxing a little as Spike made no move to attack her, just standing there laughing. "What's peroxide boy doing here?"
"Well it's like this, Spike got himself into some trouble."
"Hey I resent that. I was just out for a walk and they jumped me! I didn't do anything, it's not my fault."
"Oh shut up Spike before I kick your ass. Anyway he got captured by some soldiers and they put something in his head so he can't hurt humans anymore."
"Ha! Sucked in. So what's the problem?" Interrupted Cordelia.
"Well he escaped their lab and through his massive incompetence they probably know that he's here in L.A with me, and they know I'm a vampire."
"So again, what's the problem, we give him back to them and that's it. Right?"
"No Cordy. They torture demons, and since Spike isn't capable of hurting people anymore, that's not fair. And they'd want to take me with them as well."
"Oh, ok, so what are we going to do?"
"Uh Angel? I hope you already have a plan because it loooks like they're here already." From his position at the window Doyle could see a group of guys in army gear with guns coming towards the building.
"What?! How many Doyle?" Angel asked quickly trying to form a workable plan.
"Looks about ten or so of them."
"Alright here's what we'll do. Doyle, you and Cordelia go meet these guys and pretend that this is your place, and that Angel Investigations is yours. If that doesn't work come down to the apartment and we'll go through the sewers ok? But don't let them get you."
"Alright man, see what we can do. Get downstairs quick, they're almost here."
Spike and Angel waited downstairs and listened tensely as Doyle and Cordelia did their best to convince the commandos that they didn't know any Angelus or Spike. It was obvious that it wasn't working and Angel started mentally urging the pair to get downstairs when all hell broke loose.
One of the soldiers grabbed Cordelia's wrist intending to put her aside, then as she started yelling at him to let her go and for Doyle to help her, Doyle went for the boy holding his Delia, and Angel went to race up the stairs to help them but Spike caught hold of his arm to hold him back.
"Don't be stupid mate, they won't hurt humans!"
"Yeah but Doyle's half-demon," Angel said shaking off Spike's restraining hand. As he moved to the stairs with a grumbling Spike behind him, he heard a voice that made him freeze where he stood as emotions washed over him.
"You'd better let go of her or I'll pound you to dust!" Buffy somersaulted over the soldiers in her way and landed next to Cordy.
Simultaneously three people spoke her name, Cordelia in relief, Riley, head of the soldiers in shock, and Angel who had flown up the stairs like lightning in joy, anguish and fear.
Cordelia and Doyle went to stand behind Buffy with Angel and Spike. Riley took a step towards Buffy.
"Buffy, what are you doing here? It's dangerous you should leave." He went to take her hand when angel stepped forward and growled threateningly at Riley, his face changing to its vampiric features.
Riley stepped back and the others raised their guns as Spike also stepped forward to stand with Angel in game face. Buffy tried to put herself in front of Angel protectively but he thrust her behind him.
"Wait! Stop it. Riley if you shoot Angel I'll kill you. Now will someone please tell me what is going on?"
"Hostile 17" Riley pointed to Spike, "escaped from our facility tonight and we came here to recapture him and this other vampire."
"I am not Hostile 17! My name is Spike, you great bloody pillock!" Spike glared at the boy in front of him.
"Shut up Spike!" Angel turned to face Buffy. "I can't let them take him back Buffy. They tortured him, and put something in his head so he can't hurt humans. He's harmless."
"Hey! That's not... ow, uh, Angelus?"
"If I have to tell you one more time to be quiet, I'm going to beat the shit out of you. Got it?" Angel had Spike pinned up against a wall by his throat.
"Yeah, fine. Great bloody poof." Spike mumbled under his breath.
"Oh so you're allowed to hurt him but we're not?" Riley spoke up again.
"He's my childe, and my responsibilty not yours. Go away!"
Buffy stepped forward to face Riley. "Riley look you can't have Spike and there's no chance of you taking Angel so why don't you all go home and stop wasting everyone's time. Oh and by the way you and I are so over."
The five of them watched as Riley and his troops began leaving with Spike once again laughing himself silly at the expression on the boy's face as the Slayer pissed him off.
"That's it! I'm going home to recover from the trauma. Come on Doyle you can walk me home." Cordelia said sounding every inch the high-school queen she once was.
"Coming Delia," replied Doyle rushing after her.
"Geez Cordy, it wasn't that bad. We didn't even have to slay anything," commented Buffy, still amazed at Cordelia's attitude.
With her and Doyle gone it was only Spike, Buffy and Angel left in the office and the tension between Buffy and Angel was thick enough to cut with a knife.
"Oh bloody hell, why don't you two just get back together, admit you love each other and have a big old shagging session without the actual shagging. this being noble shit is enough to make a vampire heave."
"Spiiike."
"Yeah yeah I know. I'm going downstairs, see what you have to eat and watch some tele. Don't do anything I wouldn't." He smirked at them and went down to find some food, he was bloody starving.
"Why is it always Spike giving us love advice?" Buffy wondered out loud.
"I don't know but he always seems to know what's going on even when we deny it."
"Well maybe we should um do what he suggested. Because, you know, I'm miserable without you. I can never have a normal life because of the whole Slayer thing so why shouldn't I be happy with an unnormal life rather than unhappy with a normal life?"
"Buffy I never wanted you to be unhappy, I just thought it might be better for you. It wasn't easy to walk away. It was the hardest thing I've ever done. I love you with all my soul, and I hate being away from you for even a minute."
Tears were running down both their faces as they came together, holding each other so tightly it might have been their last time together.
"I love you too Angel, with all my heart. Please don't leave me again?"
"Never, I promise you. I'll keep this promise forever, we'll always be together."
They kissed passionately until Buffy had to break away for air and they bothed laughed together, not letting go of each other.
"Why don't we go tell Spike the good news? I'm sure he'll be thrilled." Angel led Buffy down to the apartment with a wicked grin.
As they walked into the living room Spike looked up at them, and upon seeing the love and happiness written across their faces and their linked hands, groaned and said, "Oh bloody everlasting hell, that's disgusting. I think I'm going to stake myself." But secretly he was happy for the pair as he actually liked his sire and thought he deserved some happiness, but not too much. That bloody pillock Angelus was insane, trying to suck the world into hell. Have you ever heard of a more idiotic idea?!
