Disclaimer:I only own Logan! The rest belong to Joss!
and the song belongs to Garth Brooks
Rating: PG-13
Author's Notes: I heard a song on the radio the other
night and it inspired me to write this fic. The song
is "Somewhere Other Than the Night" by Garth Brooks.
The story takes place a few weeks after "Everything
will be alright"
Buffy sighed, throwing herself into Angel's chair at his desk. She'd been trying to get him to go to lunch with her and Logan but finally gave up when it was time for Logan's nap. "I have to read this." he had said while skimming through a book. It had been like that for the last couple of weeks. It seemed to Buffy that he was always reading something and didn't want to be bothered. She picked up a letter opener twirling it around her fingers as she sat silently.
Cordelia watched the slayer from her spot at her desk. "Angel needs to spend some time with her!" Cordelia said to Doyle quietly.
"Maybe you should tell him." Doyle responded.
"Maybe I will!" Cordelia said almost to soft for Doyle to hear.

"Angel," Buffy said coming into his office. "Do you want to do something tonight. Ya know just you and me! I'll see if Cordelia will watch Logan for a bit and we can go see a movie or something."
"Buffy I'm really busy." Angel replied. He didn't see the hurt look on Buffy's face as she walked out of his office. He didn't have to. Cordelia saw it for him. She also heard the happy laughter of a child soon vanish after her mother had told her, "No Logan. Daddy's busy. He can't play toys right now."
"I've had enough!" Cordy exclaimed slamming her fist on the desk and causing Doyle to jump. She pulled a CD player from under a desk and a CD out of her messenger bag. She turned it on and turned up the volume.
"Cordelia would you turn that down!" Angel hollered. "I'm trying to read!"
Furious Cordelia stormed into his office. "Just listen to it!" She said angrily before storming down to his apartment.
Somewhere other than the night
She needs to hear I love you.
She needs to know you care.
She wants to know she needed
and she needs to be held tight
Somewhere other than the night.\

"He'll be down soon." Cordelia told Buffy as she picked Logan up. "And I'll bring Logan back tomorrow morning. I'm sure you guys will want some alone time."
Buffy still didn't understand what Cordelia was doing. She had said she was going to take Logan for the night so Buffy could be with Angel but how could she be with him when he was "too busy" to do anything. "But Cordelia...."
"Just go with it!"

Angel quietly crept down the stairs after listening to the song. Buffy lay on the couch with her eyes closed. A lone tear trickled down her cheek catching at the corner of her mouth. Angel silently walked over and knelt beside the couch leaning down and kissing away the tear. Her eyes fluttered open and no words were said as Angel lifted her off the couch and gracefully carried her to the bedroom. Laying her down he slipped his shirt off and laid next to her. "I'm sorry beloved." he whispered kissing her forehead.
She snuggled up against his chest whispering, "Just hold me."
"Will do." he whispered wrapping his arms tightly around her.
They lay like that until Angel suggested they go to dinner. After calling to make reservations to an expensive restaurant he returned to the bedroom. "I made reservations for 7:00. What do you say to a shower?" He asked smiling slyly.
Buffy quickly jumped out of bed racing towards the bathroom. "Are you coming or not?" She yelled. Angel chuckled and soon followed his girlfriend.

Buffy emerged from the bedroom in a gorgeous babyblue gown. That back dipped low on the sleeveless dress that fell to the floor. Her hair was pulled up loosely on top of her head with a few tendrils framing her nicely tanned face.
"You look beautiful," Angel commented as she stepped up to him.
"Shall we go?" She asked sliding her arm into the crook of his elbow.
"We shall." Angel smiled as he escorted Buffy to the car.
They arrived at the restaurant and Angel politely opened the door for Buffy and then followed her in.
"Wow!" was all the stunned girl could say to her surroundings.
Angel smiled at her then turned to the host. "We have reservations."
"Name please?"
"O'Roarke."
"Oh yes, Right this way please."
They followed the waiter back to a small table. After being seated they both picked up menus.
"Angel this is very expensive." Buffy said looking over the menu.
"Just ignore the prices, beloved." He replied. "Nothing's too expensive when it comes to you."
She smiled then continued looking. Soon deciding on grilled chicken marinated in lemon with a salad and Angel on a Rare steak. The waiter came and they ordered then chatted until their food came. When it did come they took turns feeding each other and casting adoring looks.
After dinner Angel helped Buffy into the car then he got in and they drove to the beach.
"It's beautiful at night." Buffy stated as she removed her shoes along with Angel and they began walking along the shore.
They had been walking for around a half hour when Buffy yawned. "Tired." She mumbled laying her head on Angel's shoulder.
He smiled as he turned them around. "Home?" he asked her.
"Mmmmhmm."
He smiled again and gracefully lifted her into his arms. When they reached where they had left their shoes Angel swooped down and picked them up throwing them in the back of the car and placing Buffy in the passenger seat. After he slid in, Buffy curled up at his side. Placing one hand on his thigh she smiled mischievously and began trailing her fingers lightly up and down his legs. Angel groaned as he drove. Finally he pulled one hand off the steering wheel and grabbed her hand. "Don't be a tease." He said bringing her hand to his lips. She smiled again and curled closer to him. They arrived home and Angel carried Buffy down to the bedroom. "Remind me to thank Cordelia tomorrow." Angel whispered as he kissed his way down the side of her face. Buffy giggled and pulled his face so his lips were fully on hers.
