Some say love it is a river
That drowns the tender need.
"Miss Summers, I have news for you good or bad, you decide." Dr. Field said.
"Okay," Buffy said, she was pretty sure of what this news was.
"Well, it seems that you are almost four months pregnant." Dr. Field replied.
Buffy was speechless, I mean this is what she thought, but she figured that she was wrong; I mean she was wrong about everything. How come she couldn't be wrong about this too?
"Are you okay Miss Summers?" Dr. Field asked, "Is there anyone, you would like to call?"
Of course there was someone she wanted to call, but she couldn't call him, how ironic, the one person she needed right now was the one person she couldn't have. "Oh, uh no, no one." Buffy replied shakily, before hoping off of the chair. "No one." Buffy said one last time, before walking out the doctor's office and into the brilliant outside light.
It had been almost four months since Thanksgiving, four long lonely months. She was so mad, she was finally starting to get over him, move on like he wanted, and then he just had to show up, bringing back all the memories and emotions with him. But then again who was she kidding, she would never be over him, she couldn't, what was it that Spike had told them once, that love, it wasn't brains, it was blood, blood screaming inside to work it's will. Well her blood was sure screaming all right.
Some say love it is a razor
That leaves your soul to bleed.
Buffy arrived at the dorm; for once glad that Willow wasn't there, giving her alone time to think about everything that has happened.
She was pregnant, how did this happen, the only person she had slept with was Angel, but that was on her 17th birthday, and Parker, but that was also too long ago to make this his. It had to be Angels, it just had too be, she didn't know how, but it was. She could feel it in her heart.
She lay back on her bed, drifting off to sleep, dreaming of much nicer place, where she was with Angel.
Some say love it is a hunger
An endless, aching need.
Buffy was eight months pregnant now, everyone was very supportive, even her mother surprisingly. I guess she thought this was her daughters ticket out of slaying she could now finally have her normal life, she deserved.
Buffy had never told anyone who the father was, how would they believe her? So she kept that information close in her heart. She had never told Angel of this information either, he didn't want her in his life anymore, how would a baby change it. If she told him, he would feel sorry for her and want to come back, but not because he loved her, but because he felt sorry, so she had never told him. She had come close a couple of times, but she had never told him.
I say love it is a flower
And you its only seed.
She felt like crap, her baby wasn't even born yet and she was already a terrible mother, because of her, her baby will grow up fatherless. Because she was so afraid of getting her heart torn out one more time by the man she loved, her baby will have no father. No she couldn't do that to her little miracle, she was going to put all her emotions and feelings away and was going to go to L.A.
It's the heart afraid of breaking
That never learns to dance.
It's the dream afraid of waking
That never takes the chance.
Cordelia brushed around the office, doing little chores here and there, before once again plopping down to read a magazine, or file her nails. The front door opened. Finally some business she thought, before getting up and going to meet the new client.
"Buffy?" Cordelia asked, shock written all over her face.
"Can I talk to Angel?" Buffy asked. "This is important." She had to do this before her nerves get the best of her and she runs out that door, back into the cold lonely night.
"Yeah, he'll be up soon." Cordelia said. Buffy was in front of her, a pregnant Buffy was in front of her this could only mean trouble. She was afraid to even think of how long his brooding would go on this time after she left. Angel walked into the room, interrupting her thoughts.
It's the one, who won't be taken,
Who cannot seem to give.
"Cordelia who's here…" Angel trailed off, seeing Buffy.
"Angel." She said.
She looked so beautiful, even in her pregnancy, the father, was a lucky man. "Buffy." Angel replied, "You need something?"
"Could we, uh, could we talk?" Buffy asked in a small voice.
He led her to his apartment. It was weird but she had an odd sense that she had been here before, she knew everything about this apartment. Where the kitchen was where the bedroom was, but how? She had never been here before.
Angel led her into the kitchen, and started a pot of tea.
"So, you wanted to talk?" Angel asked.
"Yeah, I'm-I'm not really sure where to begin though." Buffy was suddenly having doubts about this plan of hers. What was she going to do, if he rejected her, how could she live with herself? What would she tell their child, when it asked about their father?
"You can tell me anything." Angel said honestly. The look on her face, it was so sad, so worried, what did she need to tell him. He was starting to become scared himself.
Buffy took a deep breath and began, "Well you know I'm pregnant Angel."
Oh no, it was about her child, she didn't love him anymore, she was probably coming to tell him that. He thought before answering, "Yes."
"Okay, well I'm 8 months pregnant, Angel." Buffy said.
It clicked, 8 months, 8 months since Thanksgiving, could it be, was he the father, how would Buffy know, the oracles said they erased the day, and the memories? Only he was supposed to live with it.
And the soul afraid of dying
That never learns to live.
"Angel?" Buffy asked worriedly, he seemed so far off, so distant. He knew something about this that he was not sharing.
"Huh?" Angel asked, snapping out of his thoughts.
"Well I know you're the father of my child, I don't know how and I can't explain it, but you are." Buffy babbled, then realizing Angel wasn't listening to her. "Angel."
He had been lost in thought, he was the child's father, Buffy knew? How could this happen?
And the night has been to lonely
And the road has been to long.
"I love you, Buffy." Angel began, "I try to but I can't stop, I will love you till the day I dye, and even long after. I am so sorry that I have not been there for you, for our baby." As tears began to fall on their faces, that was exactly what Buffy had wanted to hear, for so long.
She walked the short distance between to close the gap between their bodies, and kissed him with all the love and passion and lust that had been stored in her body. Letting it all finally come out. They broke apart not knowing what was going to happen next, just that together they could fight any obstacles that came in their way.
"I love you." Buffy said quietly.
And you think that love in only
For the lucky and the strong.
"Angel, we did it." Buffy said, referring to the little baby girl in her arms and to their relationship.
"What should we name her?" Angel asked with a smile knowing exactly what she meant while stroking the little girl's soft arm.
"Rose." Buffy said.
"Rose, it is." Angel replied, kissing the babies head, and then giving Buffy a kiss.
A little later, everyone came in, wanting to see the newest addition to the Scooby gang.
"Everyone," Angel said, "This is Rose, our daughter."
Just remember in the winter
Far beneath the snow
Lies the seed that with the sun's love,
In spring becomes a rose.
