Author's Note: Buffy, Angel, and the gang go to the water park for a day
to celebrate Buffy and Angel's daughters (Kasiya)b-day.
Dedication: HAPPY BIRTHDAY KAS!!!!!!! (I won't sing it to you cause that
would be painful) < g >
"What?" Angel asked defensively.
Buffy stood, Kasiya's bag in one hand looking again over Angel's attire: a white cotton shirt and green swim trunks with brightly colored fish on them. "New trunks?" Buffy asked, biting her bottom lip attempting not to laugh.
Looking down sheepishly at his wardrobe, he sighed, "I didn't have anything for today so Xander lent me a pair of swimming trunks." He paused, giving himself a once over, "But I kind of like them."
Nodding her head slowly, Buffy rolled her eyes, "We've definitely been spending way too much time with the gang."
"Momma!" Kas, yelled from the top of her lungs. Running down the wood steps of their brand new house, her bathing suit held in one hand and a little white sandal in the other.
Buffy turned towards her daughter's voice, which also took the attention off Angel's bathing suit, "Sweetie, what is it?" Buffy asked moving to the bottom of the stairs and meeting her daughter. Taking the swimsuit she untwisted the straps, and slipped the suit on. "Where's your other shoe, sweetie do you know?"
Kas, looked down her pink bathing suit now on, "Pwincess." She said pointing to Snow White.
"Yes, it's Snow White, now where's you other shoe?" Buffy asked.
"Pwincess." Kas replied pointing to herself, her hazel eyes meeting Buffy's, a huge smile on her face.
"Princess," Angel said, moving over to the steps, "Where's you shoe? We can't leave for the park until you find it."
"Yeah, we are going to meet Aunt Willow and Uncle Oz, Uncle Xander and Aunt Anya, and Aunt Cordy and Uncle Gunn." Buffy chimed in.
"Doyle?" Kas asked, referring to Cordelia and Gunn's three-year-old son, who was the same age as her.
"Yes and Doyle." Buffy answered, "Now can you go get your other shoe?"
Kasiya broke out into a huge fit of giggles, her brown curls bouncing everywhere, "Momma I don't know where it is." She said in between giggles. She stood up and patted Buffy's stomach where there was a slight bulge, due to her pregnancy. "Hewwo brodder." Laughing she ran up the stairs.
Rubbing her temples, this was going to be a long day. "Angel, please go find Kas's shoe."
Giving her forehead a quick kiss, and pat to her stomach where their son lay, he got up and ran up the stairs after Kas.
*~*~*
After a long car ride, everyone was finally there. "Kas!" Buffy yelled, scanning around for her daughter. "Come here, sweetie."
Kas came bounding towards her mom, "What momma?" She asked in a singsong voice.
Reaching into the small bag Buffy pulled out sunscreen, "Take your shirt off and let Mommy put some sunscreen on you."
Sighing as if asked to do a huge favor, she reluctantly pulled off her cover-up and let her mother apply the sunscreen.
Looking over a car, she saw Doyle and Cordy who was too having sunscreen applied. "Look at Doyle." She whispered, a slight blush to her cheeks.
Buffy rolled her eyes at her daughters comment. "All done missy." Buffy said, as she put the sunscreen back in the bag, "Let's go catch up to Daddy."
Tugging on her mother's hand, "Wait momma, Doyle isn't weady yet." Kas replied as she turned her head towards Doyle.
"Come here you," Buffy smiled lifting Kas the best she could, resting her on the side of her hip. "Let's go see Doyle and Aunt Cordy."
*~*~*
"Okay, tickets are bought, people are here, I think it's time for some water fun." Xander said, rubbing his hands together, "Who's with me?"
Everyone rolling their eyes; except for Kas and Doyle; who both shot their hands up and shouted words of excitement.
"By the way," Oz said smirking, "Nice trunks."
"Let's go." Angel huffed, "They aren't that bad." Angel said turning to Buffy.
"Yes they are." Anya replied over hearing their conversation. "I made Xander get rid of them, who would have thought you would take them." She shrugged and went to go catch up with her too eager boyfriend, who was already waiting in the first line.
"I think they're nice," Willow said, with a sympathetic smile.
"Water rapids?" Buffy asked, "This doesn't sound like such a nice ride."
"Oh, but it's great." Xander replied enthusiastically. "You sit in a huge tube and go through like water falls, and all sorts of things."
"You get wet." Anya said with a big grin on her face.
"Momma." Kas said, moving over to her mom, gently tugging on her shorts.
Buffy bent down so she was level with her daughter, not an easy task for her current state. "What is it sweetie?"
Moving close to her ear she whispered, "I need to go pee-pee."
Looking around she looked for the nearest exit, not seeing any she turned back to her daughter, "Can you hold it for a little longer?"
"I need to go pee-pee." Kas replied, this time more urgent, squishing her knees together.
Sighing Buffy turned to Angel saying they were going to find a bathroom and meet everyone at the end of the ride. Buffy was a little relieved to be off the hook, her and water were not the best of friends.
*~*~*
"I'm soaked to the bones." Cordelia complained, "And just look at the hair." She said, trying her best to style it.
Gunn snuggled an arm around his wife's soaking waist, "I don't know," he said smiling, "I think it's kind of sexy."
Turning her head she kissed his cheek gently, "You're sweet, but a terrible liar."
"Eww." Doyle said, scrunching his nose at his parents kiss. "You have cooties."
"I'll show you cooties." Gunn said, scooping up his son into his arms, Doyle laughing all the way.
"Where we meeting Buffy?" Willow asked, ringing out the excess water from her light blue shirt.
Angel looking like a drenched rat, looked over to Willow, "You know, she really didn't say. I guess we just stay here and wait." Running a finger through his hair, trying to spike it up the best he could.
Oz began to walk towards the bench, "Sit?" He asked gesturing the empty bench.
*~*~*
A half hour or so later, Buffy and Kas came up, seeing everyone sitting at the bench. "Hey." She greeted, a chocolate ice cream bar in hand.
"Where've you been?" Angel asked, a little relieved, he was worried about the two.
"Baby got hungry." Buffy said with a shrug feeling a little guilty. "So have you been waiting long?"
A chorus of no's came from everyone except Anya.
"Well, where to next?" Gunn asked.
"The pool!" Kas shrieked! Pointing over to the wave pool her and Buffy had passed by earlier.
"I guess we could all use some drying time." Willow replied.
"Tanning time it is." Cordelia said, with a smile.
At that the gang took off to the pool.
*~*~*
"Dadda, I hungry." Kas said they had been in the pool for an hour or so.
Angel looked at his watch, seeing it was around noontime. "Do you want a snack?" He asked, Doyle sat on the fake beach burying his father in the sand, Buffy, Anya, Willow, and Cordy lay tanning and gossiping, and Xander was off with a couple of teens playing with squirt guns.
Nodding, Kas climbed up her father and rested her head on the crook of his neck, her small arms wrapped around him.
"Hey." Buffy said, looking up seeing Angel and Kas. "How is everything?"
Bending down, Angel set Kas down on the beach towel, kissed Buffy sweetly on the lips, and rummaged through the bag, looking for a snack for Kasiya.
"Apples and peanut butter?" Angel asked taking out the small Tupperware container.
Kas took the container and began to munch on the apples, every so often Buffy would sneak her hand in and grab one.
After finishing off the apples Kas took off towards the sand, and Doyle.
Buffy snuggled her head on Angel's broad chest, drawing small lazy circles on his arm. "This is nice."
"Yeah it is." He replied holding her closely to him.
*~*~*
He had been staring at her for about fifteen minutes, finally getting up the nerve he went over, to the blonde. "Buffy? Buffy Summers?"
Coming out of her daydream Buffy looked up. Squinting, she sat for a second thinking, "Riley?" She asked, almost in disbelief.
Rubbing his suddenly sweaty hands on his shirt, he gave a smile and sat down next to Buffy.
Anya and Cordy had just left; both were burnt to a crisp and went to go pursue Aloe Vera. Angel had taken Kasiya back into the pool, with Doyle and Gunn. Willow, Oz, and Xander went to the arcade about a minute away, leaving Buffy completely alone, with Riley.
"So," Riley began, "How is everything?" He realized now, seeing her again, that leaving her was probably the stupidest thing he ever did.
"Pretty good." Buffy said, rubbing her stomach.
Riley's eyes followed her hand, seeing now the slight bulge and the golden wedding band. Cringing on the inside he kicked himself, he let her go and now she was taken.
*~*~*
"Look dada." Kas said, pointing over to where her mother and a blonde haired man were standing.
Angel turned, "Riley." He mumbled under his breath, "Kas, let's go see Mommy." Lifting his daughter into his arms.
"Hey." Angel greeted a little too sweetly to his wife, kissing her on the head. "Oh, hi." He said innocently as if he hadn't seen Riley.
Buffy gave Angel a look, but was relieved not to be alone any longer, she was a married and pregnant women, what gave Riley the right to hit on her?
Giving Angel an evil stare, he clenched his fist, "Hi." He replied through tight lips.
Kas climbed out of Angel's arm and snuggled into her mothers lap. "I hungry." She said rubbing her stomach.
"Well I guess that's my cue," Buffy said, picking up some things she had laid out. "It was nice talking to you though." Giving Riley a small smile she handed Angel the bag, and lifted Kas onto her hip, as the family made it's way over to the arcade to get some lunch and meet up with the gang.
Riley sat dumbfounded, mouth a gap. He left Buffy a couple of years ago, she was supposed to grieve, not to go back to her vampire lover, who seemed very human and very in the sun. "Idiot." He said to himself, once again kicking himself.
*~*~*
Lunch was surprisingly uneventful, only once did Xander play with his tater-tots, making Doyle and Kasiya laugh and the rest of the adults groan.
"I look like a lobster." Cordelia complained. "My face is killing me and hurts like a bitch."
"Look at me." Anya replied, gesturing to her body. "I don't have much longer to live, and I am spending as portion of it burnt."
"Where are we going next?" Xander asked, ignoring the girl's complaints.
"Nowhere in the sun." Cordelia said quickly.
"Uh, sweetheart, if you haven't noticed you can't really get out of the sun." Gunn replied, Doyle in his arms.
"I can if I go to the stores right over there." She replied pointing to the shops. "Now who's with me?" Seeing the crazy stares, from the rest of the group. "Oh, c'mon." With that she briskly walked out the arcade and over the few feet to the souvenir shops.
Everyone looked at each other, shrugged and went to follow Cordy.
*~*~*
"Where's dada?" Kas asked, as she and Buffy came out the shop full of bags. Both had grown tired of shopping, Buffy because her feet were swollen and hurt, Kasiya because she got a mermaid doll, and was itching to play with it.
"Oh, look a snowball stand." Buffy cried enthusiastically. "Do you want a snowball, sweetie?"
Kasiya nodded her head up and down, a smile appearing on her face.
"Hi," Buffy said to the nice man behind the counter, "I would like two snowballs, one large and one kiddy."
"Okay, and what do you want on them?" He asked, politely.
Bending down, "What flavor?" She asked to Kas.
Kas titled her head up looking at the ceiling as she thought, putting her one finger in her mouth, "Uh. I want bubblegum." She said after a few moments.
Buffy turning back to the man, "Okay I'd like one kiddy bubblegum, and a large chocolate banana." She paused, "Wait, on second thoughts, I'm in the mood for bubblegum too."
"Okay so two bubble gums?" The man asked checking the order.
"No, I'd like one kiddy bubblegum, and a large chocolate-banana-bubblegum." Buffy replied, feeling like a weird cow at her order.
The man looked at her for a second almost seeing if she was joking and then left to get their snowballs.
"Okay, here you go." The man said as he handed the two snowballs over and took the money.
"Let's go find Daddy and Willow." Buffy said as she and Kas turned to go out the shops.
Knocking into someone on the way out, "Oh my gosh," Buffy started, "I am so sorry." She finished up apologetically.
"It's okay." Riley said, looking down at the brown snowball stain that was now on his khaki pants.
"Riley?" Buffy asked finally looking up.
"Yeah." He answered, looking around for a napkin of some sort to wipe the spill off.
Kasiya, stood watching the scene unfold, her eyes watering from the laughter.
"Sweetie." Buffy said, giving her daughter a stern look, wishing that she too could laugh like her daughter was at the moment. "Oh, here." Buffy said to Riley, handing him a napkin.
"Thanks." He said wiping the spill.
"Well, I am so sorry once again, but we have to go find my husband." Buffy replied, as she took her daughter's hand and walked into the summer heat, finally able to laugh.
*~*~*
"It's getting late," Willow said looking at her watch. "How about one more ride and then we start heading home?"
"That sounds like a good idea." Buffy said, moving Kasiya's head to her other shoulder, "She's out already."
"Yeah and Doyle looks like he's going to crash any second." Gunn replied, scooting Doyle further up on his back.
"Am not." Doyle replied groggily.
"One more ride it is." Cordelia replied.
"Aw, c'mon guys," Xander complained, "The night is still young, and we still have half a park to go."
"Well, what should the last ride be?" Buffy asked.
"Nothing wet, my hair is just now starting to un-frizz." Cordelia piped in.
"Cordy, hate to break it to you, but uh, Water Park, that's where we are." Xander replied jokingly. "The sunburn hasn't gotten to your brain has it?" He said with a goofy smile.
"Shut up." She walked over to him, smacked him on the backside of is head, and then began walking leaving the rest of the group to follow wondering where she was going.
Seeing the big 'Thank you for coming to Water-Water' Xander stopped dumbfounded, "You took us to an exit?"
"My son is asleep, Kasiya is asleep, Buffy is falling asleep, my whole body aches, I am ready to go home." Cordelia said.
Willow raised her hand, "I agree with Cordy. I am pooped."
"Yeah, if we leave we can go have sex." Anya said snaking her hand around his arm.
"Uh, I think we should leave." Xander replied, his checks turning a light pinkish red.
Angel rolled his eyes, and lead Buffy and Kasiya to the car.
*~*~*
"I think she had fun." Buffy replied, snuggling close to Angel.
"Yeah, her third birthday was a success, I'd say." Angel replied, tightening his hold on his wife.
"Well, Kas is sleeping, and it's only 9 o' clock, is there anything you'd like to do." Buffy asked suggestively.
"I think I can think of something." Angel replied a mischievous smile on his face. He moved his head down to capture her in a heated kiss. Breaking it off suddenly, "What exactly is wrong with the swimming trunks?" Angel asked.
Buffy rolled over, groaning. "Angel," she said sweetly, "Shut up about the shorts and kiss me."
