Buffy stumbled through Sunnydale's dark alleyways, her face contorted in pain and anguish, trying so hard to steady herself, but failing, she tripped and hit the ground, she pulled her trembling bodyto the wall, leaning against it. Buffy closed her eyes as a tear escaped and burned it's course down her cheek..

"Beautiful, that should have been your name." Angelus whispered enticingly, his cold breath lingering on her skin. His sculptured body brushing against hers. Buffy turned to him, her face an expressionless mask.
"Charming." Buffy said simply, "Why do all of this? You're that infatuated?" Buffy added distantly as she picked the petals off of the daisy. Her feelings were locked away, somewhere inside.
"You're killing it." Angelus said with a frown as he gestured to the daisy that was barren of petals falling from her fingers.
"It's of no consequence." Buffy stated blankly as she looked to the remainder of the daisy, lying on the pavement, along with every other thing that had been tossed away.
"So I've won then?" Angelus said with a small grin, as he gently caressed her cheek and examined her eyes, so lost, so dead.
"Almost." Buffy said as something flashed in her eyes, then quickly leaving again. Buffy walked off into the night, leaving a smiling Angelus behind.
"Be careful my beloved, I just might get to you." Angelus whispered mockingly as he turned and left..

The thudding stopped, it faded away to the distance, now it was almost bearable, Buffy took her hands away from her ears, relief washed over her. Buffy had won this battle, but this was only one and many were to follow. She stood up, leaning against the building, she was shaking as she pulled herself to her house. Buffy dragged herself to her shower, her mother was gone, with the rest of them, she was alone and for the first time thankful.
The hot water sprayed over her, washing away everything, everything she ever wanted, needed, had. Buffy stepped out. She looked into the mirror, studying it, no image greeted her, only the room. A stake was lying next to the sink. Buffy's eyes roamed to it. "I have to." Buffy said to the mirror, her voice slipping. "He'll come back, he never leaves." Buffy argued into the mirror, more a plea then a statement. The thudding never ended, just softened, it threatened her, day and night, he threatened her. It was all part of the punishment. She picked up the stake, reveling in the feel of it in her palm..

"Not so quickly." The elder woman called out sharply to the back of Buffy. Buffy turned and faced her. Angel to her side, caged and living out his sentence. Angel called out to Buffy, pleading with her. Buffy looked to the cage, she reached for him.
"Enough." The elder woman said simply and sharply, the cage, along with Angel, disappeared into nothing, Buffy looked painfully back to the old woman.
"You think this is the end, it is just the beginning. He is not the only one to blame." The elder woman said coldly. Buffy nodded, excepting it, after all, they had both been responsible.
"Welcome back to your life, it is worse than the fate of the other." The elder woman said as everything faded out of view..

"The past..it never leaves you." Angelus commented from a tree as Buffy walked down the street, stake on hand, same old blank look plastered on her paler-than-pale features. "Isn't life funny that way?" Angel added with a smile.
"It stays, I welcome it." Buffy replied smugly as she kept on walking, patrolling down the streets as she had been doing for the past ninety-years. Angel hopped down from the tree and walked alongside her.
"The farmer isn't good for you Buff, you need a bit of danger in your life." Angelus said with a smirk as he tried to keep up the pace with her.
"Good to know." Buffy said coldly as she walked a bit faster, the familiar thudding continuing as it always did.
Angelus moved in closer, he stood in front of her, blocking her path. They were eye level. "All these years, and I still want you." Angelus whispered as he looked to her neck, he ran his finger down it. Buffy pushed him out of the way and continued walking.
"Hurts doesn't it, to want things you can't have." Buffy said with a heartless smile. "We have that much in common." Buffy added harshly.
"Ouch, you showed some feeling, something more for me to break, it isn't looking too good for our resident slayer." Angelus mocked with a chuckle.
"I will kill you." Buffy put simply as she continued walking.
"You can't and you know it." Angelus said with a smirk. "You'd be killing yourself."
"Who says I want to live." Buffy said blankly. Angel stopped and smiled, he disappeared. The thudding lessened. "I win again." Buffy said with a small smile.

Buffy tossed and turned in bed. Riley woke her up.
"What's wrong?" Riley asked, worried. Buffy smiled weakly.
"Just a bad dream." She said distantly as she laid back down next to Riley. She kissed his neck, then smiled wickedly, she bit down. draining the life from his form. "You didn't even see it coming Fishboy." Buffy said with a smirk.
"Now there's my Buffy." Angelus said with a smile. "You said I couldn't break you, I did. Isn't it amazing?" Angelus asked, anticipating the answer.
"It was almost too easy to give in." Buffy said simply.

Buffy woke up and looked around her. She was pushed down gently by a male voice.
"It's okay Buffy, everything's going to be fine." He said with a half smile as he brushed away a stray piece of hair from her eyes. Buffy noticed the monitor, the IV and the white walls.
"Where am I?" She asked quickly.
"The hospital, you just got out of your coma." Angel said quietly. Buffy ran into his arms, never more happy to see him. "I need you." Buffy whimpered.
"And I'll be here, always." Angel answered back as he kissed her softly on the lips. Buffy trembled as Angel held, her..Never wanting to sleep again..
