Buffy slammed the door of her room as she flung her bags onto her bed, falling to her knees, she held her head in her hands.

"Why am I so stupid!" Buffy exclaimed, tugging on her hair as tears began to burn a path down her cheeks. Holding her knees as she rocked back and forth, Buffy cried.

"I should have known, but I thought.. god, I thought he'd actually want me.." Buffy trailed off, her words dying into her cries.

Dawn frowned from the next room over. It was Angel again, Dawn knew by the way Buffy was crying, dropping her books, Dawn rushed into Buffy's room, not even bothering to knock.

Buffy looked up, her face had tear tracks all over them, no way to hide them now. Looking away in shame, Buffy wiped away the tears with her hand.

"That bad huh?" Dawn asked, sitting down next to her, rubbing her back comfortingly. Buffy nodded, leaning into her sister's embrace.

"It's okay." Dawn murmured, smoothing Buffy's hair away from her face as Buffy cried into her shoulder.

After a while Buffy pulled away and gave Dawn a small smile. "Thanks, I needed that." Buffy said, patting her arm. Dawn smiled cheerily.

"Anytime, if you need me, I'm only a wall away." Dawn answered, walking towards the door.

Buffy sank back down into her bed, sighing, she fell asleep..

Cordelia's mouth hung open as Buffy left, crossing her arms and turning to Angel, she narrowed her eyes. "What did you just do?'" Cordelia asked, advancing on him.

"What I had to." Angel replied, turning to face the wall, applying his poker face.

"Um, newsflash Angel, you're in control, doesn't that mean you can get groiny?" Cordelia asked again, leaning against a pillar in the hotel.

Angel took a deep breath, even though he didn't need to breathe, it was out of habit, and he was stressed.

"I don't need to explain this to you Cor-" Angel started, but was cut off by Cordelia.

"Oh I think you do. What you just did was pretty cruel. I'm beginning to think you like this whole brooding alone thing." Cordelia interrupted, getting a little bit miffed by Angel's actions.

"You guys have the eternal love of all time and you're just going to let that go because you want a reason to bitch and complain?" Cordelia added, arching an eyebrow.

Angel looked like he was about to say something, but he paused, looking at Cordelia.

Cordelia pointed to the door, a smug look on her face.

"But-"

"No buts Angel, you, car, Sunnydale, now." Cordelia exclaimed, crossing her arms.

"I can't. It's day." Angel said quietly, gesturing to the sunbeams coming through the glass doors.

"Oh." Cordelia replied. "Well, that doesn't mean your getting out of this, come sundown you have some apologizing to do." Cordelia said seriously, pulling on her shades and slinging her purse over her shoulder.

"In the meantime, I've got some shopping to do, you better not be here by the time I come home." Cordelia chided, walking out the door.

"Yes mom." Angel muttered, a small smile on his face. Walking into the study, Angel took out Buffy's picture, thankful he had Cordelia around to give him a much needed reality check, he had a slayer to see.

Buffy tossed and turned in her bed, moaning in her sleep, she had been sleeping all day, unwilling to leave her room.

Waking with a start, she had been dreaming again, a nightmare, all of Angel. Hugging Mr. Gordo closer, Buffy had gotten the feeling she wasn't alone.

"Dawn? Are you in here?" Buffy asked, sniffing as she stood up, walking to her closet. Ripping the door open, Buffy practically screamed as Spike fell out and tumbled onto her floor.

"Oh, it's you." Buffy said quietly, uninterested and crawling under the covers.

Spike looked appalled. "Just me? Thanks for the bloody welcome. What? You don't even want to know why I'm here?" Spike asked, standing up.

Buffy turned her head to the side. "I don't really care. Just go away." Buffy answered sadly, turning away from him.

"It's the poof again ain't it? What'd he do now?" Spike asked, pretending to be interested as he sat on the edge of her bed. "Shag another woman?"

Buffy flinched when he said the last sentence.

"A ha. Bingo, do you know who the bint is? If it weren't for this chip right here, I'd kill 'er in a second." Spike said triumphantly, smiling his little smile.

Growing angry, Buffy glared at Spike. "Just what were you doing in my closet anyway?" Buffy asked, arching an eyebrow.

"Uh, well you see, there was this thing I had to tell you and... and" Spike started unconvincingly.

"Get out Spike. Now." Buffy said, almost pleading.

"Alright, alright. A bloke knows when he's not wanted, don't get your knickers in a twist." Spike said, heading out her window, Spike turned to her. "Oh yeah, don't worry about the wanker, you can do better, love." Spike added, before Buffy could retort, he was gone.

Buffy groaned and buried her head under the covers, whether she liked to admit it or not, Spike was starting to grow on her.

Angel drove to Sunnydale, breaking the speed limit unmercifully. Feeling like a teenager again, he made it to Buffy's. Deciding against waking Joyce and Dawn, he crawled up the tree and tapped on Buffy's window.

* * *

Buffy was just about to fall asleep again when she heard something tap on her window, her eyebrows furrowing, she got up, and walked over to the window.

"Spike, I told you to-" Buffy started as she opened the window, then gasped when she realized who it was.

"Angel." Buffy said icily, pulling on the mask. "Come to bring me more heartbreak and pain?" Buffy added, crossing her arms, she knew it wasn't really fair, but she couldn't help it.

Angel flinched, her words hitting him like a fist. "I'm sorry. Can I come inside?" Angel asked hopefully, becoming a little more nervous.

"Why should I?" Buffy said defiantly, turning away.

Angel sighed. "Because we need to talk, about us." Angel answered, reaching into his leather jacket.

"Look, if you came to tell me to stay away again, you can forg- is that for me?" Buffy asked, her tone changing as she saw the red rose in his hand.

Angel smiled sadly. "Yeah, it is."

Buffy's facade faltered. "Come in." Buffy said quietly, gesturing for him to sit on the bed. Angel did as she told and sat.

"So talk." Buffy said, sitting down next to him, fingering the rose and smelling it.

"I've made so many mistakes Buffy. I never want to lose you again. Is there anyway we can work this out?" Angel asked hopefully, taking her hand in his.

Buffy stared, her thoughts stopping, what she had wanted for so long was right in front of her, asking her to come back.

"Am I dreaming?" Buffy asked, placing her hand to her heart. Angel shook his head, saying no.

"Of course I want to be with you," Buffy exclaimed, near tears. "I've never wanted anything else." Buffy finished quietly looking down at her comforter, playing with the seam.

That's all Angel need to hear, pulling Buffy in close, he brushed her lips with his. Buffy brought her arms around his neck, clinging to him as he rubbed soothing circles on her back. Pulling away, Buffy smiled for the first time in three days, then her expression turned serious.

"Are you going to leave me again?" Buffy asked, not wanting to ruin the moment, but she had to know.

"No." Angel said simply, but his eyes gave away all that he felt so she knew. Angel pulled her in close and kissed her again.

"Enough talking." Angel said softly, stroking her cheek as she drowned in his eyes.

"I almost forgot." Buffy said as her eyes widened. Smiling, she tackled him, pinning him to the bed, bringing her mouth to his as Angel's held her close.

Now Buffy was satisfied.
