AUTHOR'S NOTES: Saw this song, had to write this fic. That's all.

"I thought you needed to mope tonight," Willow said as they walked into The Bronze.

"Or kill something?" Xander asked.

"Does your mom know you're out?" Tara asked.

"Dawn's sitting with her," Buffy said by way of an answer. "I'm patrolling." the Slayer tossed her jacket over her shoulder and flashed her ID to the bouncer.

Ten minutes later, she was drinking heavily and scanning the crowd.

"Know what I need?" she asked her friends.

"Another beer?" Anya asked hopefully. She hated nightclubs and wanted to be as drunk as possible so she'd get thrown out. Then she'd wind up doing Xander in the alley before going home to pass out and throw up together the next morning in the laundry tub.

"No," Buffy discarded her sweater, leaving nothing but a tiny, gold tie-on top covering her small body. "I need to dance."

She got to her feet and leaned on the table with her elbows, shaking her booty in the air. "I need...I need...you know what I need?

"I need to relive high school," Buffy smiled at the memories. "I need to be fun and carefree and just be me."

"Me too," a voice behind her said.

Buffy turned around and saw Angel standing there, smirking.

"I thought you could use a blast from the past," he smiled. "Wanna dance?"

"We we dance, I--"

"Not like that," Angel promised, offering her his hand. "It's just a dance. Like in high school. When we were young."

"You were never young," Buffy reminded him.

"Neither were you," Angel countered.

"Tonight I feel it," Buffy smiled. "Of course I'll dance with you."

As the couple made their way to the floor, the song changed. They began to dance, and Angel held Buffy close, smelling her hair.

"You have *no* idea what you do to me girl," Angel whispered.

"Try me."

In response, Angel began to sing along.

//If I fall along the way
Pick me up and dust me off.
And if I get too tired to make it
Be my breath so I can walk
If I need some other love
Give me more than I can stand
And when my smile gets old and faded
Wait around I'll smile again
Shouldn't be so complicated
Just hold me and then

Just hold me again
Can you help me I'm bent
I'm so scared that I'll never
Get put back together
You're breaking me in
And this is how we will end
With you and me bent

If I couldn't sleep could you sleep
Could you paint me better off
Could you sympathize with my needs
I know you think I need a lot
I started out clean but I'm jaded
Just phoning it in
Just breaking the skin

Start bending me
It's never enough
I feel all your pieces
Start bending me
Keep bending me until I'm completely broken in

Shouldn't be so complicated
Just touch me and then
Just touch me again\\

"So," Buffy asked after her feet were killing her from hours on the dance floor. "Do I have to go back to my painful college reality now?"

"I suppose so."

"Damn."

"We can relive high school again soon," Angel promised.

"When?" Buffy asked desperately.

"I'll call you," Angel said cryptically, reminding Buffy of the first few times they saw each other.

"And they say you're not the average guy."

Angel smiled. "Is Monday all right?"

"My mom has a test that day. How about Tuesday?"

Angel smiled and kissed Buffy's hand. "It's a date."
