AUTHOR'S NOTES: A piece of complete B/A fluff because not only have I not been able to breathe since PO5 tonight, but I'm hoping that writing this will help me survive writing the PO5 story I started. Everytime I think of the show, I just want to bawl.
"Mommy?" Julia walked into the living room holding two identical Barbie dolls. "Why am I Julia?"
"What do you mean, honey?" Buffy made sure that Bailey was settled in her bassinet and then focused her attention on her oldest child.
"Well, I mean you're Buffy and Daddy's Angel and Barbie's Barbie...why am I Julia?"
"Do you really wanna know?" Buffy asked. The little girl nodded and she sighed. "All right, hang on a second. I've got to go up to the attic for a moment, you'll watch Bailey for me?" Julia nodded again and Buffy kissed the top of her head then stalked up the stairs.
She unlocked the first of two doors leading into their gigantic attic and began looking through the shelves. On the far left was Angel's books, the far right her dolls.
The center wall was videotapes, floor to ceiling. Some his, some hers, between them they had copies of everything imaginable. She looked briefly through the Ps and found exactly what she was looking for.
Kirsten had joined her sisters when Buffy made it back downstairs. Her twin brother Griffin was across the street playing with Spike and Anya's son.
Barefoot and pregnant, the cold cement floor felt good on Buffy's hot feet so she stood against the wall for a few minutes and watched her children interact with the dolls.
"Hi," Kirsten said, making her Barbie shake hands with Julia's. "I'm Kirstie."
"No, no, no!" Julia said. "Her name is *Barbie*."
"She's Barbie," Kirsten said quietly, pointing to her sister's doll. "She's Kirstie." she said, hugging her doll to her chest.
"Okay, Jule." Buffy entered and popped a tape into the VCR. She sat down and pulled Kirsten onto the couch next to her. Julia sat at her mother's feet and waited.
"This," Buffy said as she started the tape. "Is why I named you Julia."
The eight-year-old was quite taken with the drama since a primary character shared her name. Four-year-old Kirsten went to sleep with her head in Buffy's lap and Bailey was too busy playing with her own feet to notice anything else going on.
"We have that!" Julia exclaimed when they showed the height chart with all the Salingers' names marked on it.
Buffy, too sniffly to reply, just nodded.
"Mommy, you're crying," Julia said a few minutes later when the show ended.
"Yeah, it always makes me cry." Buffy said, wiping at her eyes.
"Why?" she asked. Kirsten woke up suddenly and stared at her mother, waiting for answers.
"Well, I guess because I really loved this show and it went off the air, I missed it."
"And you named me Julia 'cause of her?" Julia asked.
"Yes, and that's why I named you Kirsten," she ruffled her daughter's curly hair. "And why we named your brother Griffin, and your baby sister Bailey."
"What about the new baby?" Julia asked. "Are you gonna name him Charlie?"
Buffy shook her head. "I was thinking of Justin, actually."
"Daddy," Kirsten said, touching her mother's barely-showing tummy gently. "I like Daddy."
"We can't name the baby Daddy, dummy." Julia rolled her eyes.
"Don't call your sister a dummy." Buffy said automatically. "I think we're going to name him Justin Angelus, so it'll be after your Daddy, but we won't call him that. Okay?"
Kirsten just shrugged and crawled back on the floor and picked up the Barbies.
"That's mine!" Julia grabbed hers back and instantly, Kirsten started to cry. Bailey followed.
Buffy sighed and wished Angel would get home from distributing Drusilla's ashes across the English Channel already. She needed some help with her soon-to-be party of five.
