SUMMARY: Absent silly fic. Making up for lost time, I guess. This is the make-up scene of Buffy and Angel's that we didn't get to see in Earshot.
SPOILER: Earshot
DISTRIBUTION: Sure, just email me & lmk where it's going - I like seeing my name in print =)
FEEDBACK: I'm missing it like candy.
RATING: TV-PG Hopefully < g >
DISCLAIMER: These characters are, like, property of Joss Whedon. Joss sucks. So there. Faith Hill like, owns the song. Britney Spears, like, gets on my nerves. Christina Aguilera like, kicks ass live in concert.
AUTHOR'S NOTES: It's been awhile since I've written. Be kind. =)
"Wow, Buff," Xander said when the passed-out lunch lady was being arrested. "You arrived just in the nick of time."
"I guess so. Can you guys handle everything here?"
"What everything?" Cordelia asked. "The evil is gone."
"Then I guess you can," Buffy smiled. "Tell the others I'll catch them later."
"Where are you going?" Xander asked, but Buffy didn't answer. She only sped up her long strides down the hall.
Once outside, Buffy began running. She picked up speed after cutting through the woods and finally, she arrived on Crawford Street.
She stopped a few blocks from Angel's house to check her hair and makeup in a mirror. She didn't look terrible, but it would have to do even if she did. Sighing, she tucked the mirror back in her pocket and headed for the mansion.
Angel was doing Yoga when Buffy arrived. He meant to turn his classical radio station off when he noticed her, but he turned the knob to FM instead, and a pop song Buffy adored instantly filled the room.
I don't want another heartbreak
I don't need another turn to cry
I don't want to learn the hard way
Baby hello, oh no, goodbye
But you got me like a rocket
Shooting straight across the sky\\
Buffy smiled at Angel and took a step closer to him. "You look good when you're all sweaty."
"You look good," was all he would say. "Feeling better?"
She nodded. "Alot of things were left....unsaid at my house."
"Tell me about it," Angel managed a small smile. "It was kind of hard to talk about relationships with your mother pushing chicken soup at us while Giles and Wesley lectured about our make-up kiss."
"They're just jealous," she smiled. "They never get any."
Angel smirked. "Drawback of the profession I guess."
"Angel, I--"
"Words later," he closed the gap between them in two long strides. "Kisses now."
Buffy had no complaints as Angel lowered his lips onto hers.
It's the way you love me
It's a feeling like this
It's centrifugal motion
It's perpetual bliss
It's that pivotal moment
It's (ahhh) impossible
This kiss, this kiss
Unstoppable
This kiss, this kiss\\
"Wow," Buffy said when the kiss broke. She caught her breath and took a step back. "That was..."
"Intense," Angel supplied.
"Yeah, that, right, all the way." Buffy looked at Angel, trying to read his mind. Finally, she said, "I don't need a demon's power for you to shut me out of your mind."
He looked up at her, and she could see the hurt in his eyes. She was immediately sorry for having made that comment.
"You really think I shut you out?" he asked.
"Well, yeah," she moved over to the couch and he followed. "It's like...I know about Darla, and I know about Dru...but who else? When? Where? Why? I mean, you know my whole story, and it was way short. I offered it willingly, though. You didn't have to pull teeth to get it."
Angel sighed. "It's a long story."
"I've got all night."
Cinderella said to Snow White
"How does love get so off course?
All I wanted was a white knight
With a good heart, soft touch, fast horse
Ride me off into the sunset
Baby, I'm forever yours"\\
"And that's *all*?" Buffy asked. Three and a half hours, a pizza and snack bags of Fritos had passed.
"That's all," Angel finished.
Buffy smiled. "Thank you."
"For what?"
Her smile widened when she realized the same song was playing on the radio again. "For being you."
Then she kissed him. It's the way you love me
It's a feeling like this
It's centrifugal motion
It's perpetual bliss
It's that pivotal moment
It's (ahhh) unthinkable
This kiss, this kiss
Unsinkable
This kiss, this kiss
You can kiss me in the moonlight
On the roof top under the sky
You can kiss me with the windows open
While the rain comes pouring inside
Kiss me in sweet slow motion
Let's let everything slide
You got me floating
You got me flying
It's the way you love me
It's a feeling like this
It's centrifugal motion
It's perpetual bliss
It's that pivotal moment
It's (ahhh) subliminal
This kiss, this kiss
It's criminal
This kiss, this kiss\\
Buffy wasn't sure when she and Angel stopped kissing, or when she made it into his bed. She was sure that they made the sweetest love that night, and that when Angel woke her for school, his soul was perfectly in tact.
"How--" Angel pressed a finger to her lips, hushing her.
"I don't have any answers," he told her quietly. "So let's just enjoy it and be thankful."
Buffy snuggled against him, sighing happily. "Can I be late for school?"
"Buffy."
"Please?" she looked at him with puppy dog eyes.
"One period."
"I love you."
His reply was a kiss.
