Spoilers: Ten Years in the Future a little AUish.
Synopsis: Short thing about Dawn and Connor that gets B/A back together
AN: Weird, I know.

I'm twenty-five and I am alone. Romantically that is. Buffy, Oz and Willow are still back in Sunnydale, while I am living it up in Los Angeles (Four Years of college at UCLA- I like the city). Xander sadly passed away a few years ago after learning Cordy was evil, apparently he still harbored the love he had for her, and one day after Angel killed her he just walked off and never came home.

So one would wonder why I stayed in Los Angeles. It's really stupid, if you think about it, three years ago I was offered a position in New York- *

"Dawnie I think you should take it," Buffy says over the line, "It's a great opportunity for you," she adds a hint of sadness in her voice. Smiling at her actions, I sit down at the park bench near me and sigh.

"Can you at least be honest?"

"Yes, if I had a reason to leave Sunnydale, I probably would have. Dawn, you're a college graduate wanted on the other side of the country. I'd do it, unless you have a really good reason not to, like I did," Buffy says and I know she's crying silently right now, but I chose not to comment at the moment.

Ending the conversation, I hang up the phone and see a little girl running through the park away from something- and straight to my leg.

"Hi!" she smiles up at me and she's adorable. Bright green eyes, cute brown pigtails, reminded me of me in some ways. She starts talking about the puppy her Daddy wouldn't get her, and how she wished she had a mommy as pretty as I was. She goes on to tell me her favorite food and color. "My name is Calla," she says finally looking at what I presumed was her father come over to us.

"Callie," the man chuckles picking the girl up and putting her on his shoulders, "Thanks for talking to her,"

At about this time I realize he's gorgeous.

"No problem," I say honestly and I know I'm as red as a tomato. She looks exactly like Callie does and she's doing a little dance on her father's shoulders. "It was good talking to you,"

"You're glittery," she replies, "Shiny like a key"

These words jar me out of my 'Happy Dawn' moment and I must have looked like she was right because the father looked closer at me and mumbled an apology and walked off.

And I still say in Los Angeles hoping that man will come back and so I can explain.

** Connor:

Is three years to long to be obsessed with a stranger? She was nice looking and normal and Callie liked her a lot. I wake up in the middle of the night expecting her to be there when I turn over, but she's not and I think I'm going insane. On a happier note, it's Callie's birthday today and we're going over to the hotel- Dad made a cake even. He was shocked at first, but then after the End of Days and his humanity- I'm pretty sure he's gotten over it now.

"Hey Connor!" Ella, Fred and Gunn's Daughter greets me, "Cal!" she smiles hugging her best friend. Callie smiles back and they go off to do whatever they go off and do whatever it is they do.

Dad smiles at me sadly before handing me a present for Calla, "Sorry, I've got company coming over, so the party will be a bit later," he apologizes and as if on cue the front door opens and a strikingly attractive woman comes through.

My god, my father's resorted to prostitutes.

"Hey Angel!" the brunette greets hugging him and then turns to me. It's her. She's even more beautiful than I remember, my groin stirring painfully and my brain obviously isn't working when I walk over and dip her dramatically and kiss her like I saw in a movie a few years ago.

Dad's asking what I'm doing, and I think that Calla's asking me what I'm doing and frankly I don't know what I'm doing.

But I'm happy doing it *

Dawn:

My lost hero is Angel's son.

ANGEL'S SON. AS IN PRACTICALLY MY BROTHER IN LAW Angel.

As in Connor would be my NEPHEW IN LAW

And he kisses as well as he looks and now were both naked in his bed with Angel and his daughter waiting downstairs. Just recently knowing his name helps this all the more.

"I love you," he murmurs in his sleep pulling me closer to him "Stay with me"

"Buffy? What are you-?"

"Callie sent me, I'm her therapist/ martial arts instructor- ohmygod, you're the attractive grandfather she kept trying to- oh god this isn't happening," Buffy's voice says in shock. "They said you were human, and I didn't believe them 'don't be silly Willow, if Angel was human he would have told me' you would have told me. You at least owed me that much, Angel,"

I know Angel probably feels hurt, but he should have told her.

"My god, I must have waited for a week in front of the phone and then the mailbox, but no I didn't even get a 'gee thanks for saving the world' or a 'hey, Darla and I reproduced and I now have the child I could never give you' or 'hey Buffy, guess what I'm evil cuz I bonked Cordelia' It's a lot easier to fight when you fight back"

"I called. Oh, did I call. You were the first person I was going to tell. Spike or Xander answered the phone every time I called and gee, golly Buffy did they fill me in. Said you were happy without poor old dead boy, now that Spike's alive and kicking.

How happy you were that nothing weird ever needed to happen again, happy that for one moment you didn't have to worry about the rest of the world. That you could be selfish- without me. Buffy it takes two people to have a conversation," Angel said and I know he's crying by now. He has that ironic/sarcastic hilt in his voice and I guess Buffy's crying now too.

"And now my son and your sister are upstairs together- happily sleeping like we should be after hours of not getting out of bed, and I envy him more now than I ever did. They met on a park bench three years ago and now they're probably going to live the rest of their lives out together because they love each other that much. They got /an/ ending. We just have this" I can see him putting his hands out dramatically and then crossing them against his chest.

Connor moves a bit in his sleep and I curl out against him listening silently as Angel apologizes, and Buffy says it's okay- he was being honest and that deep down she envied me a little. Buffy starts crying again, Angel comforts her this time, and they're sitting on the old couch cuddling. And when she finally stops crying she leans up and kisses him and then I vow never to sit on that couch again.

Things are starting to look okay.
