Buffy and Angel slumped back in their seats. Their plane was already three hours late. And the speaker just said that it would be another twenty minutes. It had been the perfect vacation up until now.

The couple had taken a vacation to Boston over a couple summer weeks. They had visited the museums, the aquarium, Angel loved the penguin exhibit, and traveled on the T. They had a great time, but had missed their friends and family. So now was a good time for coming home.

Soon enough the plane came and Buffy and Angel boarded. The plane took off and after being on the plane for a while, the pilot came on the announcements.

"Sorry, folks, but we will have make an emergency landing. We will be landing in Cornville, Iowa. There is a small airport there, mainly for crop dusting planes, but beggars can't be choosers, now can they? The locals have agreed to possibly take some people in, because there are no hotels for thirty miles. Once again, sorry folks."

Angel groaned, he actually wanted to get home to Sunnydale. He sighed and looked over to his love. Her eyes were wide and she sat in a stiff position.

"Buffy?" he grabbed her attention.

"Angel, do we know anyone who lives in Cornville, Iowa?" she asked slowly.

"I don't. Do you?"

She nodded her head, "A certain Riley Finn," she gulped.

Angel's eyes got really wide and his mouth formed an O. The pilot once again came on the intercom of the plane and began to tell them some information about the town. It had a population of twenty. He also told the passengers that someone will be waiting to pick them up.

Buffy and Angel took a deep breath before getting off the plane. Angel glanced at his watch, nine in the morning. They were getting their luggage and were standing with the rest of the passengers in the middle of the runway, looking at the locals. Buffy and Angel in particular were hoping that Riley wasn't there. Their prayers were not answered.

"Is that- wait it is- Buffy?" Riley waved trying to get Buffy's attention. Buffy just cuddled into Angel, hoping that Riley would see that it wasn't her.

"Buffy!" he ran over to her and picked her up in a big hug.

"Eap!" was the only sound that came out of her when he lifted her up. The other passengers were looking at her with sympathy.

"How are ya?" he asked.

"Great. Riley, you remember Angel, my fiancé?" Buffy re- introduced the two men. Well man and fish/pony.

"Uhh, yeah, yeah, how are ya?" Riley stuck out his hand.

Angel stared at it, "I've been better."

"Yeah, they told us," he motioned to his neighbors, "that you had to wait a couple hours and stuff like that."

"Right," Angel tried to make himself smile. It wouldn't happen.

"Well, how about you two come back with me. We got room for another person, so I'm gonna go look around for someone else."

Buffy knew that she and Angel were trapped, that there was no real way to get out of this, but others were not, yet. So whenever Riley began to ask someone if they wanted to stay with him, Buffy shook her head no. Usually the person caught on soon enough and said that they didn't want to trouble him and that they would stay at the airport.

There was a women with a little kid, about six or so. He asked her is she and the child wanted to stay with him and his family. She gratefully said that that would be lovely, and picked up her luggage and started to walk with him.

She introduced herself to Buffy and Angel as Lindly, and her son as Jasper. The five walked into the parking lot, towards a beat up van. It was a dirty red and looked as if it was going to breakdown at any moment. Riley sat in the driver's seat and Jasper insisted on sitting in the passenger's seat. Buffy and Angel took the far back seats and Lindly took the seat to the middle.

"So, I take it both of you know this guy?" she whispered.

They looked at her, "Yeah, I go to college with him."

"You don't look like you really enjoy his company," she stated.

Angel shook his head, "We don't. He has annoyed us and several occasions. And he keeps on trying to hit on Buffy."

"Oh," she said quietly. "So you guys are engaged?"

"Yeah," they smiled for they first time on the trip.

"Me and my husband have been married for nine years, he had to stay in Boston for business. Jasper and I wanted to get back, he has this camp thing in two days and if we would have stayed, he would have missed it."

For the rest of the trip, fourteen miles to be exact, the car was quiet. Well, except for the pop music that was playing from the radio. Riley was bobbing his head while listening to the latest spears song.

"I just love Ms. Spears! Don't you?"

"Uh huh," Angel used sarcasm. He looked at the person driving. "Not really, I like classical."

"Me too!" Buffy quipped, she wanted to be as far away as she could from liking anything that Riley liked.

"Oh," Riley's shoulders slumped. "I didn't really like that song anyway." Buffy and Angel exchanged smirks.

The Finn house wasn't really a house. It was a barn. In fact, there were two barns. One had a chicken in the top window, and the other had a kid hanging out the top window.

"Hey, Edith!" Riley shouted out his car window.

Angel woke Buffy up, she had been sleeping in the car, and together they ventured forth to the Finn home. When they walked in through the barn door, the saw a loft with sheets pulled, to make separate rooms. There was hay instead of carpet, and what looked like a kitchen was in the back right corner of the 'house'.

"Come in," Riley told them.

"Mamma! We're back!" he shouted up to the loft.

"Oh, good," a large woman came out of a sheet room and used the ladder that was to the left to get down to the 'downstairs'.

After Mrs. Finn came down six kids came running out of their rooms, each taking turns with the ladder. Mr. Finn came out of the family room, the upper left corner. Buffy, Angel, Lindly, and Jasper were the center of the Finn family's attention.

"Everyone, this is Lindly and Jasper," he pointed to them. "And this is Buffy and Angel, I go to school with Buffy."

All the children 'ohhh'-ed and smiled while bobbing their heads. Riley motioned to his family.

"Guys, this is my family. That's Franny, Arbor, Merrimack, Edith, Randy, and Sylvia," he pointed to each child as he said their name. It seemed that they went in age order as he said them too. "Me and Arbor and twins! Though, Arbor was born first."

Merrimack put out his hand, "How are ya?"

Jasper took it, "Just fine, you?"

"Good thanks," he said.

"And that's my papa, Wilson, and my mama, Edna. My papa is only two years older then my mommy," he said proudly. Though for the life of her, Buffy couldn't guess why.

"Riley show your friends their rooms," Mr. Finn said, "and then give them something to do. We don't like slackers here, in this part of Iowa." His eyes narrowed on Buffy. She gulped. Mr. Finn was a very large man, almost seven feet tall. Angel stood right behind her, in a protective stance.

When Riley showed Jasper and Lindly their room Jasper shouted, "No! I want my own room, there are three beds, one for me, one for mom, and one for Buffy and Angel, I get my own bed!"

Fish/pony flushed for a second. "I don't know, I mean, they might be uncomforta--"

"We'll be fine," Buffy interrupted him. She grabbed the bag from Angel's hands and plopped it down on the bed. (Now when I say bed, I mean mattress filled with hay, and laying on the ground. Just want to clarify. Read on.)

Angel pulled back the sheet to his and Buffy's room, he couldn't believe that this might qualify as a guest room. This was not fit for a guest, or anyone, even a Finn. That scared him a bit.

"Um, Riley, if you'll give us some privacy for a sec, I need to change," Buffy told him.

"Okay," he stared at Angel.

"Riley! I need to change!"

"I'm waiting for Angel to come," he explained as if she was meant to understand this.

"Riley it's okay if--"

"Oh, sorry I was zoned out there for a moment, I'm coming Riley," Angel said as he got up from the bed. As he passed Buffy on his way out, he whispered, "When in Rome..."

"Yeah, yeah," Buffy muttered as she took out a new top to change into.

Riley and Angel climbed downstairs and joined the family downstairs. They were at the table, eating foods like bacon, sausage, and eggs. Mr. Finn wasn't there and Mrs. Finn was wearing an apron that said 'Kiss the Cook'.

"Okay," Riley said, then gave his mom a big kiss on the cheek.

All the kids were laughing when Buffy came down. She stepped next to Angel, "What are we laughing about?"

"Riley kissed his mom, look at her apron."

She groaned. "Hey, Buffy, Angel are you guys hungry?"

"Sure," Buffy said looking around her.

"Well don't just stand there, sit down!" Mrs. Finn yelled at her.

Buffy took a seat next to Merrimack on the floor. The kitchen table was basically a big piece of wood on the ground. The children sat on the ground to eat their meals.

"Here," Buffy was handed a plate of food as was Angel.

"Where is Lindly and Jasper?" Angel asked after looking on his plate.

"They said that they were going to take a nap," Riley said before digging in through his breakfast. To Buffy he looked like... well there was no way to describe it. He basically shoved everything into his mouth at once.

"What's wrong with you? Why are you not eating my breakfast?" Mrs. Finn demanded as she saw Angel just eating his toast.

"I am a vegetarian," he said quietly. Ever since becoming human, he decided that meat wasn't the way he wanted to go.

"Veggie person, huh? Well, I think that that is all hubub. A big nonsense over nothing, I tell you, why back in the old days..." and she droned on.

Angel just kept cool, not letting this bother him. He didn't like Mrs. Finn insulting him like that, but thought best to restrain himself. Buffy just squeezed his hand. He smiled over at her.

"So, you two are engaged?" Franny asked the couple.

"Yes," Angel answered, forgetting all past issues with Mrs. Finn.

"When's the date?" she asked.

"Actually we were thinking May 12th, because that's when Angel's parents were married."

Riley flushed and then ask Buffy and Angel if they wanted to go for a walk, to see the farm.

"Sure," Buffy nodded.

"Yeah!"

They got up and walked outside. Riley walked with the couple for three hours, around the farm. Talking to them about his troubles. Like how he liked this one girl, but she liked someone else. Buffy sighed at that because she knew that Riley was hopeless. Then he talked about another girl he had met over the summer. Her name was Bessie, and she went to church with him. He found out that she was his second cousin, and that even though it made her feel uncomfortable, he thought it was great because they already knew each other's relatives. Finally the 'tour' was finished and they walked back to the barn.

All the kids were outside in the front yard and they were playing some children's game with Jasper.

"I wanna play!" Riley shouted as he ran with the kids.

Buffy and Angel looked at each other then excused themselves to go upstairs. Mrs. Finn was watching a soap opera with Lindly, and they were crying over someone's lost love.

"We're gonna take a nap," Buffy said more to herself because Mrs. Finn and Lindly weren't listening to them.

They climbed up the ladder and went into their room. They laid down on the mattress and Angel wrapped his arms around Buffy. He gave her a small kiss and together they fell asleep.

When Angel woke up he felt someone watching him. He looked up and there was the Finn clan staring at them. Mrs. Finn look very upset and Riley looked like he was going to cry. Quickly Angel thought of something that he did wrong, but all he remember was kissing Buffy before he fell asleep. That wasn't wrong, was it?

"You perverts!" Mrs. Finn shouted and began hitting him and his love with a broom. "Get out!"

Buffy's eyes flung open and she tried to take in the situation. She looked at Angel searching his eyes for an answer, but found none. They quickly grabbed their bags and ran out of the house. They walked the fourteen miles back to the airport and and spent the night there with some of the folks that were ready to go back home.

They explained their problem with another young couple and they were quick to nod their heads in sympathy.

"Yeah, we stayed with the Finns one time too. For some reason they kicked us out too. In fact they were staring at us when we woke up the next morning. Wonder what it is that sets them off?"

"Don't know," Buffy shrugged, "but Riley is so annoying, oh and did you notice that if you were to take the letters of each Finn member and put in order from oldest to youngest you spell WE FARMERS? Think about it, Wilson, Edna, Franny, Arbor, Riley, Merrimack, Edith, Randy, and Sylvia."

"No, but now that I think about it, that's really creepy," the other girl said.

They couples exchanged Finn stories, mostly Angel and Buffy shared, but they shared nonetheless. At about eight the next morning, people started arriving at the airport. It was announced that the plane would leave in five minutes and that everybody should get ready. Buffy and Angel were more than ready to get home. On the plane, they sat next to Lindly, and they asked her why they were kicked out.

"Because Angel had his arm around you and they thought that that meant that you two were dreaming about sex. Odd isn't it?"

"More like frightening, but okay."

When they got home, their friends welcomed them back. And before they left the airport they told the other couple why they were kicked out. Tina, the girl, was trying to contain her laughter. Buffy and Angel left the airport, glad that they were back home.

The next time they saw Riley on campus, he gave them a look that said 'you disgust me', and it was then that they started laughing at him. He puffed out his chest for a couple seconds, then ran to his frat house, crying all the way.

The End
