Angel was sleeping. He was dreaming about her. Every dream was about her. Never about anything else. And it was these dreams that he enjoyed the most. It gave Angel a chance to be with her again.
A knock at the door woke him up from a very peaceful sleep.
He sat up, willing himself to wake up. He blinked his eyes a couple times, and got ready to walk to the door.
Whoever was at the door started banging.
"Be right there," he called out.
The banging continued.
"Coming!" he opened the door.
His face couldn't express the shock that he was feeling right then. There stood his love, with hair dripping wet, a bookbag that, upon first observation, was soaked, and her clothes were throughly drenched. "Hi," she tried smiling to him. It didn't work. "May I come in?"
Angel, still in his state of shock, just opened the door further for her to enter. She turned around and gave him a kiss. He eagerly returned it and then noticed the wetness of his girlfriend.
"Angel, love, you wanna help me here?" she displayed her wet figure.
He took her bookbag from her and removed her coat. Finally he spoke, "What happened?"
"I got stuck in the rain on my way over here. Very wet."
"Would you like some dry clothes?" Angel winced after she sat down on his leather chair.
"Please," she smiled at him.
He went upstairs to retrieve the clothes. When he came down, Buffy was on her knees, warming up by the fire. He leaned against the wall and was just looking at her as she kneeled by the fire. "Hey," she said, finally noticing him there.
"Hi," he offered the clothes. "They will be a little big, but I am sure they will be fine."
She stood, and stood before him, "Thanks."
"You're welcome."
"You mind if I change here?" she asked, with her puppy dog eyes.
"Oh course *I* don't, I never would."
"But, because you are a little gentlemen, you would just turn your head anyways. So... oh what the heck, just turn around."
Angel politely turned his head and picked up a book.
"Done!" she said. "You can turn around now." Buffy held up her clothes, "Where should I put these?"
Angel took in the sight of his love in his clothes. The shirt arms were rolled up and the hem line fell to just above her knee, and she wore a pair of his old boxers. But to him, she looked beautiful.
"Uhhh, we could put them in the dryer?"
She smiled, "Okay, I'll be right back."
He just stared at the fire, wondering how he was so lucky to have her as his own. She re-entered and took a seat next to him on his couch.
"You know, these clothes aren't the most flattering things in the world."
"You look beautiful."
"Sure, so what were you doing?" she rested on his couch, putting her feet on his lap.
"Nothing much. Reading, watching the fire, thinking of you."
Buffy perked her head up, "Me?"
"And how great you are, and how great you will looked in the sun, and you hair, your laugh, your eyes," he rambled.
Buffy just smiled. "Yeah? How about any other of my great qualities?"
"Oh, definitely those too," he smiled the smiled that made her heart melt.
"I bet," she said before putting her head back and closing her eyes.
Buffy liked these moments the best with Angel, when they were together and could just sit in silence without it being awkward. They had gotten back together after Angel found out he was to be human. Buffy could still remember jumping into his arms, promising never to let go.
Angel's voice brought her back from her memory. "...here?"
"What?" she asked, a little dazed. "Sorry, zoned out a little there."
"Why did you bring your bookbag here?" he asked a second time.
She sighed and leaned back. "I thought maybe you could help me with a little studying and a paper." "
Sure, do you want to get started now?"
"Not really, but now is as good a time as any."
She stood up, and he followed her. For the next two hours they studied, Angel going over some information as many as five times, before Buffy got it, but she did catch on, eventually.
After the studying Buffy suggested a snack.
"Like?" Angel asked, her arms encircling her.
"Oreos?" she asked hopefully.
"Now what makes you think, a vampire like me would have oreos?" he kissed her.
"Because I bought them just the other day?"
"Oh, that, okay, I'll go get them."
"And I'll wait here. Have fun," Buffy kissed the handsome vampire and happily skipped to the couch.
Angel made his way to the kitchen to get the snack, and he knew Buffy liked her oreo dipped in apple juice, so he opened the fridge. There were two carrots, and some blood bags. He opened the drawers in the bottom of the fridge to find three juice boxes. He smiled to himself. He was lucky that he had apple juice boxes in his fridge. Though how they got there was another story.
He punctured the foil and emptied the juice into a glass and stuck the oreo package under one arms. Angel carefully made his way to the couch, finding Buffy looking at his book.
"How do you read this stuff?" she asked.
"It's easy," he told her.
"While you were gone I used that time to figure out what half a paragraph meant in this book. How did you get so smart?"
"Well two and a half centuries can do that to a person. You live a little, and you learn all sorts of things."
"Like?" she begged.
"Like how to read that book for one," he explained.
She rolled her eyes. "Did you get the oreos?"
"Yeah, and I found some apple juice too. How did that get in there?"
"Well, when I bought the oreos it was logic that lead me to the juice."
"Logic, huh?" Angel arched an eyebrow at her.
"Well that, and a sudden craving for my oreos and apple juice." Angel just sighed without breath and sat next to her, putting am arm around her shoulders.
"You want one?" she asked, holding a cookie out for him. "That's okay, you have it. It's all for you," he kissed her and she snuggled up next to him.
"Awwww, thanks. But really, do you want one?" she asked, taking a bite.
"That's okay."
"But they're really good."
"I'm sure they are, but my taste buds aren't exactly the things that are working the best."
"So? Here's what we'll do, you try one with your vamp tasting, and then when you become human, you try it again and compare. Sound good?"
Angel, not wanting to put up an argument, agreed and Buffy feed him and oreo dunked in apple juice.
"Good?" she asked, eyes focused only on him.
"Wonderful," he half smiled at her.
She ate some more then pushed them aside. Together the sat in front of the fire, Angel's arms around Buffy.
"Angel?" Buffy looked at him.
"Yes?" he asked.
"I'm cold."
"Here," he said as he spread a blanket over the two of them. Buffy snuggled further into Angel and whispered, "I love you," before falling asleep.
"I love you too Buffy, goodnight," he kissed her forehead and fell asleep, wondering if life could get any better.
