Part 1
LA, 2004
Angel rolled over sleepily in his bed, the urge to get up and go to the bathroom was definitely a new thing. Different urges had been hitting him lately, and he had seen the Oracles about it all. He had learned that he was slowly becoming human. They had told him that after his defeat of Darla and many other demons, he now deserved to be human.
Once the change was complete....he'd go see Buffy...he would tell her. Even though she had a boyfriend, or she had the last time he had heard, he knew that she deserved to know. Groaning slightly, he headed for the bathroom. Being human again was going to take some getting used to.
Sunnydale, 2004, night
Buffy paced restlessly. Something wasn't right inside her, it wasn't just a feeling. She had felt strangely for some time now, and the newest urges were at once scaring her and enticing her. She hadn't told anyone yet, she didn't know why.
Buffy stood still and waited. She could hear a vampire moving in the bushes to her left. "Come out and play....Slayer wants to have fun." she hissed, surprised, because her voice didn't sound like her own.
The vampire stepped from the bushes. He wasn't very old, maybe 16, but who knew how long he'd been a vamp. "What are you?" he asked, looking at her. "I'm the Slayer, your worst enemy...ya know?" Buffy was puzzled by his question. "You look like her but...you don't smell quite human, something is wrong with you..." The vampire seemed just as confused as Buffy.
Buffy moved closer and the vamp backed away. "What...what do I smell like?" she asked quietly, fearing the answer. In the past few days, the strange urges that she had ignored at first had become almost unbarible. Her strongest urges....was for blood. The thought sickened her. Now that she thought about it, she should have told the gang. This vamp was right, something was wrong with her.
She turned her attention back to the vampire as he spoke, still keeping his distance. "You smell...like a human...but with a mixture of...." he seemed to pause. "Vampire?" Buffy asked, feeling her stomach drop to her feet. He nodded and said, "It's like the legends say, a Slayer turning vampire with out being sired."
Buffy was on him in an instant, holding him down. "What do you know, you bastard? Tell me!" He struggled, but subsided when Buffy punched him. "It's a legend...thought to be a myth, when a vampire becomes human, the Slayer will take his place, become a vampire herself." Buffy stared at him. "Angel....that means he's," She pulled away, something in her eyes that hadn't been there a second before. Something similar to a growl escaped her throat and she stumbled back.
The amazed vampire watched as the Slayer seemed to fight an internal battle. Her face was a mask of misery and pain. "Slayer?" the vampire timidly asked, wondering why his instincts weren't telling him to kill her. She spun away from him, a snarl erupting from her throat. "No....no...I can't..." she hissed and then fled, leaving an amazed vampire behind her.
The vampire turned and began walking to the nest. The others would want to hear this. Perhaps, just perhaps, the changing Slayer was the new master that they had been told was coming. It was a preposterous idea, but never the less....it might be true.
As he stepped through the door, his brothers and sisters looked up. "Hello, James, what news have you brought us?" a young female, named Taunyaa asked. "The Slayer, she is changing, the legends were right." Thewas silence.
Taunya looked at him, wondering if he had a theory, like she did, that the Slayer who was changing might be the new master. She was prooved right when James said, "I think....I think she could be the new master." Taunya nodded satisfied. "You may very well be right, James, we shall see."
She turned to her followers. "No one is to harm the Slayer, the change will not take much longer, and then we will know." They all nodded in reply. "James, follow her...make sure she is not harmed, and that her friends do not try to help her before the change is complete." James nodded and the vampires dispersed to their hunting grounds.
Taunya looked around the warehouse they had staked out as their nest. If the Slayer was indeed the new master, then room would have to be made for her. Taunya liked the idea that Buffy, the greatest Slayer ever, might in fact be the new master in Sunnydale. If she was turning vampire then, that meant that her vampire love, Angel, was becoming human, and that meant that Buffy would crush this town before anyone knew what had happened. Taunya liked it. She liked it alot.
LA, 2004, night
Angel had felt the change come over him quickly. Organs that had not been used in over two centuries were sputtering to life. Cordelia was watching him as he knelt there with his eyes closed.
She touched his shoulder gently. "Angel? Are you...human?" Angel nodded. "I am...I really am." He stood and hugged Cordelia tightly. "Let Wesley know, will you?" "Where are you going?" "To get something to eat, I'm starving." Cordelia grinned, everything was alright now, or so she thought.
Sunnydale, 2004, night
Buffy fled the grave yard fighting her body's revolting organs. Her head spun as she went to her knees. James watched the Slayer from the shadows. It had been only a day since he had met her in the grave yard, and here she was, running again, as her body changed.
Buffy screamed as her body shut down and the pain of her soul being torn from her began. "No....what's happening?" James heard her groan. He knew though. The Slayer's heart had stopped, as had all her organs had and she was now in the throws of changing from a human, to a demon.
Buffy closed her eyes against the pain. It hurt so much and it scared her. She could feel something awakening with in her...something evil. The demon, she realized. The vampire had been right, she was changing...and now, it was to late to warn her friends. As her eyes closed, she prayed that someone could kill her before she did alot of damage.
James walked into the warehouse, the Slayer's comatose body under his arm. "What's this?" Taunya asked. "She's changed, you were right, it didn't take long." Taunya nodded. "Place her in my room, I will wait for her to awaken." James nodded and left for Taunya's room.
Taunya smiled. The Slayer was no more, and a demon now inhabited her body. She some how had a feeling that Buffy would be a force that would be feared by demons and humans alike. She hoped so.
Part 3
Sunnydale, 2004, day
Taunya watched as the Slayer began to stir. It had been almost a full day since James had returned with her, and Taunya had been losing patients. However, it looked like now the changed Slayer would wake up.
Buffy's first thought was * What happened? * and her first sensation was of pangs in her stomach. She was starving. Idley, she wondered why she was so hungry and then rolled over so she could look around the room.
Taunya looked at the Slayer, she looked confused. That was understandable. Taunya herself had been confused when she had first turned, but it would disappear quickly. "I see you're awake, Buffy." Buffy jerked her head up, her yellow eyes gleaming in the dim light. "Who are you? Where am I?" "I am Taunya, and you are in my bedroom. We have brought you here because you have changed, like the legends said."
Taunya saw the look of fear cross the former Slayer's face. "That's right, young one, you've turned." face. Buffy sat up dizzily and struggled to stand. "Lie still. You are weak." "I'm not like you, I don't feel," Buffy froze.
Taunya watched the girl's body shutter and the look of pain cross her face. "It hurts, at first, and you're confused, but you'll forget it soon." Taunya said, stroking the young girl's blonde hair.
Buffy shook herself as if in a dream. "I'm okay, now." Taunya nodded, satisfied. "Good. Are you hungry?" Buffy smiled, her new fangs glinting slightly. "Starving." she said.
LA, 2004, night
Angel lent over Cordelia as she writhed on the floor in the throws of a vision. Angel had been told that the PTB were not through with him and his friends yet. He had learned after his change to a human, that he still retained his vampire strength and healing abilities. He snapped back as Cordelia began to speak.
She sat up slowly and looked at Angel, horror stamped across her face. "It's Buffy, Angel, when you became human she...she changed." Angel felt his heart stop, again. "Changed?" he asked. "She became a vampire." Angel blinked and then realized at once what had happened. "The legends, they were true."
Cordelia and Wesley, who had been silent until now both asked, "What?" Angel looked up at them, his eyes sad. "If a vampire was to become human, the Slayer at that time would change, become a vampire herself. it's never happened...until now." He stood slowly. "We have to get to Sunnydale, now."
Part 4
Sunnydale, 2004, night
Angel sat quietly in the grave yard, just thinking. Why hadn't the oracles warned him? Had they even known? He didn't know. He had searched for Buffy all day, hoping he could find where she night have been staying, but no look. He had also seen a murder victim of "extreme mutilation". It had made him sick because he had known it was her. She left an exact replica of her claddagh carved in the 16 year olds face.
Angel had told Cordelia and Doyle to stay at the hotel. Thinking of Doyle made him ask himself why he had not seen a vision. It made him worry. Could it mean something that no one was supposed to know about was going to happen? Something involving his Buffy?
Buffy knelt behind a grave stone, very near to where Angel sat. She growled softly, smelling his scent. He was her mate, and now, it was time to reclaim him.
Angel never saw the shape as it hurtled into him. He landed flat on his stomach, the form on top of him, securing him. "Hello, Lover." a familiar voice hissed.
Angel looked up into her eyes and felt his heart rate jump. Her eyes mirrored Angelus's exactly. It scared him. "Buffy," he said. "Shhh, don't say anything, Angel." Buffy kissed him, her tongue snaking into his mouth and running over his human teeth.
Buffy could smell the fear radiating off of Angel and it excited her. She pulled away and licked down the side of his neck. Angel at once realised her intent and renewed his struggling. To no avail.
Buffy pierced his skin quickly and drank from her lover. It was ironic, she thought, that after all that had happened, after all they had gone through, she would be turning her now human lover back into a vampire. She continued to feed until she heard his heart slow to a weak thud.
Angel felt Buffy tear her fangs from his neck and opened his eyes to see her above him, slicing her wrist with a fang. After all he had gone through, after everything they had suffered, he was lost again to the darkness. Angel feared, this time, he would never come out of it.
Sunnydale, 2004, next night
Angelus opened his eyes tentatively. The first thing he saw was his lover, lying next to him. "Hello, sleepy head." she whispered, turning to face him. He didn't answer, but kissed her, nipping at her bottom lip with his newly refound fangs. "You know, babe, it's not every life time I get turned twice." "What can I say, I missed you." Angelus grinned. "I missed you to, babe."
And the Slayer shall fall as her Angel is redeemed.
And her angel shall return to the darkness from whence he rose.
And united the darkness will grow and swell and the world will crumble at their feet.
So it is written, so it shall be.
