Synopsis ~ During a fight, Buffy falls into limbo and has a chance to talk to Angel. Kinda musical

Author's Notes ~ I was horribly depressed after I saw the eps. I heard this song and wrote a happy fic. This is the first fic I ever completed. Enjoy.

Buffy stumbled back a step. The she turned and pulled a roundhouse kick that knocked Angelus back onto the pavement.

"Stay down for once." She said a little short of breath.

"Only if you join me." Angelus retorted as he made a grab for her legs. He missed and as he attempted to rise, Buffy knocked him unconscious. Buffy prepared to walk away when something knocked her unconscious also.

Buffy seemed to awaken. She glanced around to see where she was. < The décor sucks and I can't imagine who would live here >she thought. Then reality hit her like a ton of bricks; she was in a dreamscape.

Then it occurred to her that she was not alone. She spun around, automatically into a fighting stance expecting a demon behind her. That's when she saw Angel, her Angel, not Angelus. The sound of music penetrated her thoughts and with out realizing it she began to sing.

Buffy ~ Lay it down
Pull my heart to the ground
Times getting cold
Now all the leaves turn hard and blue
And I know
When I gaze to then sun
No place to hide

Buffy stopped singing and listened to the interlude. She watched Angel approach her.

" Buffy I..." Angel began.

" Angel don't." Buffy began to sing again.

Buffy turned to where Angel stood, his eyes downcast.

" Where are we?" she asked.

" Limbo." He said without looking up.

" Why is it so gloomy?"

" This is where Angelus used to spend his days before..." He trailed off.

Angel raised his face and Buffy saw the tears streaming down his cheeks.

" Angel. I..love.."

" Buffy don't say it, please." He pleaded.

" Angel I have to say it because it is true. I love you." Buffy began to cry. "I try not to but I do."

Angel moved over to her and wrapped his arms around her. " Shhhhh Shhhh." He soothed.

Buffy slowly got control of herself. She looked up and saw the grin spread across Angel's face.

" Why are you smiling?" she asked, then sniffled.

"I not only got my only wish, but you stole something from me, besides my heart."

" You don't have a heart."

"Yes I do." He whispered. " It's you."

" What's your wish?"

" To hold you in my arms." He squeezed her tighter.

" Okay and what did I steal?"

" My line."

" Come again?"

"The 'I try not to but I do' line. That's mine." Angel had such a petulant look on his face that Buffy had to grin.

" There's that grin." Angel smiled back for a moment then went completely serious. "Buffy I am so sorry for everything. I....."

" Angel it's not your fault. You're not in charge. HE IS and you have no choice." She reached up to caress his cheek. Angel grabbed her hand.

"Buffy I need you to do something for me, something important." Buffy just looked at him. "Buffy I want..I want you to kill me."

"No! I can't! I won't!" Buffy reacted violently, pushing Angel away. " Angel, there is still a chance you can come back. I know there is." She took his face between her hands. "Angel listen to me. I believe you'll come back to me. And I'll keep believing that no matter how long it takes." Angel looked at her sadly, then nodded. Angel lowered his head and they shared a kiss. Buffy was just surrendering to kiss when she felt something pulling her. She clutched Angel.

"Angel what is happening?"

"You are being pulled toward reality."

" I don't want to go back. I want to stay here with you." She grabbed his hand.

" Buffy I am always with you. Right here." He laid his hand on her heart, then kissed her gently. " But they need you." He pointed to the growing light and her friends centered in it.

"Angel I love you and I always will." Angel smiled and with a mischievous look replied, "Ditto". He released her hand and Buffy rushed toward the light.

Buffy inhaled and suddenly sat up. She looked around and found herself in the "Real" world. Giles sat beside her as did Willow. Both wore worried expressions. Xander, on the other hand, was muttering about how much he hated 'Dead Boy' and he prepared to stake Angelus........ "ANGEL!"

"Xander stop!" Buffy ordered as she stood up. Xander started and turned around. Buffy walked over and removed the stake from his hand.

"You can't kill him."

" Why not?"

" Because I made a deal with Angel." Xander, Willow, and Giles wore identical shocked looks.

" How?!"

" Limbo." Was her only reply. She walked over to Angelus. She hit him with a well-placed punch that knocked him out again. She then hoisted him up and over so that he landed in a nearby dumpster.

" It'll be sunrise soon. So he'll not be in a good mood when he wakes up." Buffy gestured for them to leave.

Buffy paused for a minute and gazed at the slowly brightening sky, in her mind she said, "Angel, remember I love you." In limbo those words brought a smile to the displaced soul of a 243 year old vampire as he mouthed those same 3 words.
