Summary: Buffy goes back in time
AN: This is pretty fluffy really, It doesn't have a time line or any thing but it is at least BtVS S4/ Ats S1. It's the first fic I wrote & it's been hiding on my computers memory for a LONG time so please let me know what you think!! =) Loz

"Hey guys!!" said Willow as she came through the door of Giles' house where the rest of the Scooby gang were waiting. Willow had called them all together for a meeting earlier that day.

"We were waiting for you," said Anya "you could apologise at least"

Xander nudged her to be quiet. "What??" Anya asked

"Carry on Will" said Buffy

"Yes, do" insisted Giles

"So, I was looking through this new spell book this morning and I saw a spell for time travel" Willow said excitedly "so I thought you could go back and make sure Angel was never turned."

Buffy made a little noise and a distraught look came to her face. The whole room went silent. "I'm sorry I shouldn't have said it, it was a stupid idea cos then, then..."

"Well, I think it's a great idea!! Who else is with me?" piped up Xander.

"Oh do shut up Xander!" shouted Giles, and then looked rather surprised at himself.

"No" said Buffy "for once I agree with him. If Angel hadn't been made a vampire then neither would Spike or Dru or countless others and many lives would have been saved including Jenny's."

"S..so you want to do it?" asked Willow

"Yes, just give me till the day after tomorrow"

"Okay, I'll get the supplies ready" said Willow

" I'm gonna go, um, I'll see you then" said Buffy

"Who's Angel and where are you going?" asked Riley, speaking up for the first time since Willow had showed.

"It doesn't matter Riley. Oh and when I get back I don't want to see you again Riley, I can't" said Buffy and with that she rushed out of the door and headed to the bus station to go to L.A.

Buffy rushed into Angel investigations and saw Cordelia typing busily at the computer.

"Hey" said Buffy softly.

"Oh, Hi Buffy how are you?" asked Cordy cheerfully then she looked at her carefully "what's up?" she conceded

"Nothing" said Buffy "Is Angel downstairs?"

"Uh, yeah" she replied

"Thanks" Buffy mumbled

She made her way downstairs where Angel was sitting sketching. Buffy stared at him drinking in his features and thinking of how in a few days she wouldn't even know that he had existed. She wouldn't remember how she had loved him, how she still did, nor how he had tormented her as Angelus how he had killed Jenny and Kendra. She wouldn't remember how she had sent him to hell and how he had come back after to her a few months yet in hell time he had been through hundreds of years of torture. After which the thing that had turned him back to normal was she and her love for him. She wouldn't remember that glorious day, the day that never was, the day she should of forgotten, the day when Angel was human.

She had been standing there for what seemed like an eternity but had only been a few seconds when Angel turned to look at her. Her face was damp with tears. Angel didn't question her he just took her into his arms and she stayed there crying for at least half an hour before looking up at him and whispering "I love you Angel and I always will you know that, don't you?"

"I love you too, more than anything" he replied

She removed herself from his arms and wiped her eyes "what were you drawing?" she asked

Angel handed over the picture; it was of he and Buffy it wasn't completely finished but it was perfect. It captured every line of them perfectly they were walking down an empty beach holding hands what's more it was in the sunlight.

"It's beautiful!" exclaimed Buffy

"You can keep it if you want" offered Angel

"Are you sure?" she asked and on a brief nod from him she said, "thank you I'll treasure it always"

"So, not that I'm complaining, but what brings you here?" asked Angel

"I just wanted to see you, encase anything happens, not that I'm expecting it to, I just needed you to know that I really do love you and if anything changes on the you-know front just tell me!"

She lay in his arms and they just slept till morning. The next day they spent catching up and in the evening she said, "I have to go now"

"Will you come again?" Angel asked

"Of course" she lied

They stood looking at each other for a while then Buffy looked away before she started crying.

"So I better..." she said gesturing to the door

"O.k." he said

"So I'll see you around" she lied

Buffy pulled Angel into a passionate kiss, memorising how it felt to be in his arms. She then turned on her heel and walked out knowing that if she looked deep into his beautiful eyes one more time she'd get lost in them and she would never be able to do it.

The next day she walked into Giles' house.

"Hey Buffy, are you ready?" asked Willow

"As I'll ever be," she replied

"You can still back down you know," offered Giles

"No, I have to do this," said Buffy firmly

"O.k. I worked out all you have to do is chant these words and you will go I think you just come back when your task is over, so when you've um... you-know you'll come back and not remember a thing of it" Said Willow, she then handed Buffy a piece of paper that had the words on it.

"See you later" said Buffy

Then she started the chant

"Goddess of time take me to the place I long
So that I can change the thing that's wrong"

With a flash Buffy was gone.

Buffy landed on the floor with a bump and the first thing she noticed was that she was kitted out in an aqua marine dress not unlike the one she had worn that fateful Halloween.

"Are you all right Ma'am? That was quite a fall" Said a voice above her

"Angel?" she whispered

"No, I'm Liam Ma'am", he said

"I'm sorry you look like someone I know"

"That's O.K.," said Angel outstretching a hand to help her up, she took it then asked, "What date is it?"

"Why it is The 22nd of July," he replied

Buffy knew that Angel had been turned on the 23rd so she had a day to find Darla and kill her before she got to Angel.

"Thank you" said Buffy

"May I be so bold as to ask where you are from, you have a different accent to around here."

"I come from America"

"What brings you to these parts"

"I'm just travelling"

"Where are you staying?"

"I do not know I have not the currency for this country" she said trying to adopt the speech of that time by remembering the words from the book Angel had given her for her 18th birthday. She then flashed him the dollar bills in her purse. The money unfortunately had not been changed as her outfit had.

"Come you must stay with my sister" said Angel

"Thank you, you are very kind"

"My pleasure" Said Angel, and it really was for he had never seen such a beautiful woman and he knew he never would again.

"I'm sorry but I do not know your name" said Angel as they were walking

"Oh, sorry I'm Buffy"

"Unusual name, but beautiful none the less"

"Thank you"

10 or 15 minutes later they reached Angel's sisters house.

Angel knocked on the door and a young lady answered "Liam!" She greeted him

"Hello Lizzy" he replied then started to explain, "This is Buffy she is from America and has no Irish money so can't find a place to stay so I thought since David is away maybe she could stay with you"

"Of course" she replied cheerfully "come on in I'm Elizabeth, but you may call me Lizzy" said Lizzy

"Hello" said Buffy with a smile not quite knowing what to do so she gave her a little nod.

Angel and Buffy both entered "David is my husband" Lizzy explained, "He is in the army"

"I should be on my way now, goodnight" said Angel with a nod

"Goodnight" replied Buffy

Lizzy took her up to her room and said goodnight.

Buffy lay in her bed thinking of what she had to do she would forget, forget everything all those good times, all those memories she would never know after tomorrow she cried herself to sleep.

"Breakfast is ready" said Lizzie

"Thank you so much, you should have told me and I'd have helped" said Buffy

"That isn't necessary" smiled Lizzie

"I'll be down in a minute" said Buffy

Lizzie nodded and left. Buffy then struggled with her dress and all it's petticoats before going downstairs for breakfast.

Lizzie handed her some porridge like stuff

"Thank you" said Buffy over enthusiastically trying to hide the fact that she really didn't feel like eating at all let alone that.

After breakfast there was a knock on the door, it was Angel.

"Good morning ladies" greeted Angel

"Good morning" said Lizzie and Buffy

"I was enquiring after whether Buffy would like to escort me on a walk on such a fine morning?"

"It would be a pleasure" said Buffy

With that he held out his arm for her to link her arm with which she did after smiling and waving at Lizzie then they walked off.

"So how are you this morning?" Asked Angel

"Fine, Thank you and you?"

"Splendid, Thank you!"

"It's a beautiful day, is it often like this?" asked Buffy

"No, it is more often than not rainy, it is like you brought the good weather with you, if you don't mind my saying" replied Angel

"No, not at all" Buffy said with a smile.

That night Buffy sneaked out of her room remembering to take some stakes and holy water with her.

She went down to the tavern and sat at a table in the corner she looked over at Angel, he was talking to Darla. She nearly cried she was the reason for all this trouble, in a way she loved her for giving her, her Angel but she also hated her for causing all this trouble. Buffy was jealous because this was the person he had spent hundreds of years with, she knew every thing about him. No she corrected herself she knew all about Angelus, which was someone Buffy didn't want to know anything about!

Buffy looked back at the table and they were both gone. She ran out to the alley where Darla was just about to drink. Buffy sneaked up on her and just as she sank her fangs in she staked her. She exploded into dust and Buffy sank to her knees sobbing she looked up at Angel, who looked questioningly at her, for the last time and said, "Goodbye my love, I'll never forget" before there was a bright flash and she disappeared.

Buffy Summers woke up in the bed of her dorm room and turned to Willow who was already awake and said, "God, I had such a weird dream! I had to go and stop Angel from being turned except his sire was someone called Darla instead of Laura, you know the one I killed who bit my mom."

"Yeah that's really strange, maybe it means something"

"Maybe but you know I would NEVER do that!"

"Yeah, I know"

Then something caught her eye, it was the picture Angel had drawn her in her dream, maybe it was all true. No, it couldn't be she couldn't live in a world where she wasn't with Angel, how would she live and she would never go out with that geeky Riley guy!!!

She got up and washed and dressed.

"I'm just going to see Angel, Will, I'll see you later" said Buffy

"O.K. see ya" said Willow

So Buffy set off down the road to where Angel lived in his mansion.
