Synapses: A plot that's been done many times over, I'm sure. However, I don't want to give
anything away so I'm just gonna leave it at that.
Spoilers: Because I don't want to give anything away, I'm gonna say everything even though it's
not everything. Ok, I know I'm irritating but just read it:)
Feedback: Always adored.
Rating: hmmm, let me think about this....I suppose I'll stick with my safe zone and stick with
Pg-13/ maybe a tad R. Not sure yet.
Disclaimer: Being as I'm slightly confused with who certain characters belong to, besides Joss,
I'll just say that we all know they're not mine. The song (which'll be in italics) is by Live and
called "Dance With You." (I don't use the whole song, only certain parts) I first discovered it
about a month after IWRY 'cause on the site "Forever, That's the Whole Point"
(http://lavender.fortunecity.com/brett/671/forever.html) there's tributes to B/A. Way depressing
but really good. Anyway, that ramble was pointless, on with the story.
The crystal blue water rolled onto the sandy shores in small waves. The sun was high above the horizon, beating down its welcoming heat. Palm trees scattered the beach, their huge branches swaying slightly in the warm breeze. The sound of the waves had a lullaby affect, the steady rhythm never leaving.
Buffy felt herself drifting in and out of consciousness almost as often as the waves were hitting the beach. She smiled when she felt a soft warmth grace her lips. She responded eagerly, drawing it out into a long, sweet kiss.
She opened her eyes and another smile lit up her features. The sun had already darkened his skin, it was a beautiful tan color now. It was a thrill to see him outside in the sun. A dream that she never thought she'd see. Yet here they were.
Sittin' on the beach
The island king of love
Deep in Fijian seas
Deep in some blissful dream
Where the goddess finally sleeps
In the lap of her lover
Subdued in all her rage
And I'm aglow with the taste
Of the demons driven out
And happily replaced
With the presence of real love
The only one who saves
No pain, no demons, no darkness. Just each other. Buffy thought she'd never see him again, that he was gone from her life forever. But somehow she managed to get him back, and that was all that mattered. He was here with her. They were happy, something both of them hadn't felt for quite sometime.
After all that had happened, there was nothing left. Nothing she wanted to stay for. Everyone had gone away. But then he came back, and all of a sudden, there was everything to live for.
"I love you," she whispered as he kissed her again. She stretched her lithe body next to his and let her arm drape over his chest. Her fingers danced lazily over his chest. He placed a kiss on her golden hair, shiny from the sun reflecting off of it.
Sittin' on the beach
The island king of love
Deep in Fijian seas
Deep in the heart of it all
Where the goddess finally sleeps
After eons of war and lifetimes
She's smilin' and free, nothin' left
But a cracking voice and a song, oh lord
"I know," he said softly. His arm came around and started to lightly stroke her bare stomach. "But I don't"
In this altered state
Full of so much pain and rage
You know we got to find a way to let it go
I see a sky full of the stars that change our minds
And lead us back to a world we would not face
Buffy woke up with a start, tears streaking down her face. She curled in on herself and let the dream replay itself over and over. How long would they keep coming? Forever. She deserved every bit of heartache that came her way. She had killed him. How could she have done that to him, not even an explanation? A kiss, and then a sword.
"I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry." The words came with her sobs as she cried herself back into another fitful sleep in the tiny apartment. At least in the dreams, not all of it was bad. She could pretend for a while that everything was ok. That he was there with her, and loved her, and kissed all of her problems away. When she woke up, the realization would hit her even harder and she'd remember ever second of that night.
Her hitching breath started to shallow as another dream started to wash over her.
Lead us back to a world we would not face
