"Buffy I-"

"Stop. Just let me get this out, ok?" He nodded inresponse. Buffy took a deep breath,trying to calm her nerves. She didn't know why shewas so nervous. What she was about to tellhim, well, she had already known for a long time.

"Angel, I get it now. I mean, I understand why youleft. It wasn't just for me, it was foryou too. It was getting too hard. And I knew thatthen I just, I just didn't want to believe it. I'm sorry for all those times after we broke up, Ishouldn't have been so cold. And I know thatI've apologized before but looking back, you didn'tdeserve to be treated the way I treated you."

"Buffy, don't worry about it, it's not important. Iunderstand, you don't need to explainyourself to me." Angel gently brushed her face,letting his hand linger on her cheek.

"But I need to explain myself for me." She quicklycontinued not wanting to give himanother chance to interrupt her. "I hated the factthat you left me and that we were apart for solong. And I hated the fact that you had your ownlife, that didn't involve me. But the thing is,that I needed that, the time away, and so did you. And I know that you already knew that butI'm slow and I didn't really get it til just now."

"Angel, I grew up. Not right away at first, but eventually I did. I needed to learn how tolive my life without you. It was just so hard because I was so scared, and I didn't, don't want to live any life with you not in it." She looked awayfrom him, embarrassed by her, confession. "Ok, so before I talk your ear off, the point of this long babble was to tell you that I'm sorry, andyou were right."

Angel looked at her now tear streaked face and felt a pang in his heart. It seemed likeshe always cried when he was involved. But he knew that this time, it was a good thing. Hergetting her feelings and thoughts off her chest was something that she needed to do. He wasproud of her and he was glad that she didn't quite hate him as much now for leaving.

"Buffy, I'm sorry that we were separated for such along period of time. And I'm sorry that some of that time was on bad terms. However, itwas as much my fault as it was yours, you can't take all the blame, I said some things that werecompletely out of line. Things that I wish I could take back but I can't. It was good though, thatwe weren't togther. We've both learned so much. But that time apart just made me realize evenmore that I can't live without you. Being away from you just made me love you more. I'm justsorry that it took us so long to find each other again."

Buffy looked at him through her watery eyes and wasamazed that the love for her showed through them so strongly. She didn't get it. But she wasn't about to complain. She stood up on her tip toes and kissed him. It was a light gentle kiss but it held a promise forsomething more.

"I love you," she said with emotion thick in her voice.

"I love you, I never stopped, I never will." He held her to him, placing a kiss on the topof her head. It would work out this time, this time was different from the rest. There wasnothing standing in their way, they could be together, no questions asked.

"Ok, now we need to stop doing the broody thingbefore my eyes get any more puffy."

They both laughed lightly at that. It was the startof a new beginning, where the pain was left in the past. Now all they had to concentrate on was thepresent, and the future.

So, you like? tell me! I was thinking about writting a sequel which will be more then one part, probablyseveral but I don't know. Tell me what to do!
