Author’s Notes: Um, not a lot to say here except this fic is fluffy, but
there is as always with me a little angst. I have been working on this a long time, so I hope you enjoy it. It’s different from what I have been writing lately. Oh yeah, I don’t know anything about the moon or eclipses. So sorry if there is any technical errors.

Prologue
She watched as the haunting light flickered out of the crypt’s hollow entrance. She squinted to see the shadowy figures that whispered ominously inside. "The master ascension is soon." One of the shadowy figures excitedly whispered.
"We are to wait for him in L.A., but word on the street is that there is some sort of vampire with a soul trying to take out all the evil going on. He even has a little team to help him." The other figure bitterly spat. Buffy laughed to herself. That was Angel.
"Yeah, I hear him and his son are trying take down the local gangs of vampires down. We’ll have to be careful that he does not find out about the ascension, for no doubt that he will try to stop it." The other figure laughed.
"And let’s hope the little slayer doesn’t figure out about the master’s ascension either." Buffy rolled her eyes. Minions were so stupid. But, unfortunately she couldn’t kill them yet, because she needed to know more of their plan.
"Let us go, and prepare for the ascension." The other shadowy figure nodded , and then the rose and headed for the entrance of the crypt. Buffy sucked in her breath and pushed her back up against a shadowy part of the wall, the demons walked past her, and she remained unnoticed. She kept her backed pressed up against the wall until the figures had successfully passed her by. Buffy stepped out of the shadows.
"Angel has a son?"
Chapter 1-
Angel heard a shriek like none other. He ran down the stairs like a bat out of hell. "Oh my God! Your HAIR!" Willow screamed in shock as she looked at Cordelia short, choppy blonde bob. Buffy covered her mouth in amusement. Cordelia resembled a circus freak. Angel stopped at the base of the stairs.
"What? You don’t like it?" Buffy and Willow looked at each other, and Willow uncomfortably stared back at Cordelia. She hated lying.
"It’s so...blonde!" Cordelia proudly touched her short tresses.
"I know. My hair dresser thought that it would make me look more chic. It ’s all the rage on fashion runways." Willow nodded. Buffy touched Willow ’s shoulder.
"Angel." She whispered as she looked at him standing at the base of the stairwell. He came out of his trance, and jumped to attention.
"Buffy." He stared at her, and drank in all her features. Willow smiled knowingly at him. Cordelia jealously looked at their intimate gaze, and she protectively touched Angel’s arm. Angel closed his eyes and burned the image of Buffy in his brain. He couldn’t have her or love her anymore. He was with Cordelia.
"What are you doing here Buffy?" Cordelia spat. Buffy broke her gaze with Angel to give Cordelia a distasteful glance.
"I heard a new big bad was coming into town. I thought I would give you a heads up and tell you that I was going to let you guys join in the fun. Nothing new has been happening in Sunnydale. I got those demons slayer-whipped." Angel smirked. Cordelia frowned.
"I haven’t had any new visions lately. I think I would know if anything new was in town." Buffy raised a perfectly manicured brow.
"Anyways," She said looking away from Cordelia’s hateful stare. "I brought the Scooby Gang for back up. I was wondering if your team wanted to help take down the baddies with us?" Angel looked to Cordelia who was giving him a stare that could kill. He nodded.
"Yeah, I think we would be into helping." He looked at the familiar faces surrounding Buffy, and then he saw a shy looking girl clasping Willow’s hand. "Hey Giles." Angel whispered. The older man took off his glasses, and began to clean them.
"Hello Angel. It’s good to see you again." Angel smiled. He always did like Giles. Giles made him feel safe somehow. Dawn waved and Angel grinned at her.
"Hey Angel." Willow brightly said. "This is my girlfriend Tara." Angel nodded and politely smiled at Tara.
"Playing for the other team now Willow?" Cordelia quipped.
"She sure is." Xander said as he stepped out of the shadows. "And girls like you are making me wish I would do the same thing." Buffy bit her lip to keep from smiling.
"I wish you would. You would be doing the female species a favor." Willow brushed her red hair out of her face and stepped forward.
"Don’t argue too passionately now you two. You might end up in a broom closet, or maybe many." Cordelia flashed Willow an evil look and Xander grinned. Giles frowned.
"Right. Why don’t we just get to business? I am starting to relive your highschool years." Gunn walked into the parlor. His eyes lit up.
"Anne?" He said in a surprised voice. Buffy turned her head and happily smiled at Gunn.
"Gunn! It’s good to see you." She said as she ran towards him and wrapped him in her arms. "I’ve missed you." Gunn pulled back to look Buffy in the eyes. Angel jealously stared at them.
"I mean you just disappeared one day. We all thought you were dead. I went to your job at the diner and they said you left, and they had no idea where you went." Buffy smiled.
"Yeah, I had to go back home." Gunn nodded. Then he looked at Angel.
"Angel, this is my friend Anne." Angel looked at Buffy with confusion in his eyes.
"Buffy, you two know each other? Why is he calling you Anne?" Gunn gave Buffy a shocked look.
"Buffy? You’re Buffy? The infamous Buffy?" She nodded.
"That would be me."
"Why did you tell me your name was Ann?" Buffy shrugged her shoulders.
"I ran away from home, and I didn’t want anyone to remember who I was." Gunn’s jaw dropped. Angel closed his eyes. He remembered why she had run away. She was mourning him.
"That is why you kicked so much demon ass. You’re the slayer!" Buffy smirked.
"Yeah." Buffy said as she slightly giggled.
"Okay, I still don’t understand how you guys know each other." Angel said. Buffy rolled her eyes.
"I was walking down the street one night, minding my own business, when I see these kids start to fight a group of vampires. You would think that they had never done it before because they were getting their asses kicked like no one has ever seen. I stepped in and helped, then sometimes I would help Gunn and his crew take out really troublesome gangs of vamps. It was really pretty easy." Gunn nodded and smiled admiringly at Buffy.
"You’ve still saved my life more times than I care to remember." Buffy looked at him.
"You would do the same for me." Just then a young man came parading down the stairs. Angel nervously sucked in unneeded air. The young man looked questioningly at Buffy and all her friends, then he looked towards Angel.
"Connor, this is Buffy. Buffy this is my-"
"Son." Buffy finished Angel’s sentence and stepped forward to shake Connor’s hand. Connor smiled warmly at Buffy. "It’s nice to meet you Connor. " Connor nodded.
"You too Buffy. You’re very pretty." Buffy grinned.
"At least someone thinks so." Angel fidgeted nervously.
"How did you know I had a son?" Angel asked. Buffy looked towards the ground, before staring Angel directly in the face, her eyes reflecting pain and anger.
"Word on the street." Angel nodded.
"This was a nice reunion and everything, but I still want to know how we are supposed to take care of this big bad?" Buffy looked towards Giles, he nodded at her.
"I’ve been having dreams. Dreams about the demon that is supposed to rise . In my dream, it says only the chosen one can change the ascension. I’m thinking, maybe the chosen one is me." Cordelia made a sighing noise.
"So what you’re saying is you know just as much as we do about this ascension guy." Buffy nodded.
"Yep. We know pretty much zilch. We do know that he is going to rise in L.A., and that it is going to happen soon. But I was hoping that you, Willow, and Tara could induce visions or something." Cordelia and Angel laughed.
"You can’t induce visions." Cordelia said. Buffy looked towards Willow. Willow grinned. She snapped her fingers.
"Vision this." Willow whispered. Willow raised her petite hand and it started to glimmer. Cordelia started to hover and glow. Buffy gave Willow a confused look.
"I thought it was supposed to make her have a vision. Not turn her into an angel." Willow shrugged.
"Even I make mistakes sometimes." Angel looked up at Cordelia, but still spoke.
"She is having a vision. The Power’s That Be made her a higher power. It entails that she can do the glowy thingy. You see, to keep having the ability to have visions, she had to take on demon characteristics. So those are her powers. The floating. The glowing. She can heal people, and stuff. Or at least I think she can." Buffy nodded, and continued to watch Cordelia glow and float. And all the while she wondered how such a bitch could turn into a self proclaimed saint. The front door opened and closed. Buffy turned her head, and watched as Spike walked in.
"Now that’s something you don’t see everyday. Floating super-bitches. " Spike said. Tara shrugged.
"That’s Cordelia, the saint." Tara whispered. Spike nodded.
" I know. Seems hanging out with you guys really does make you turn into a freak. C’mon little bit, let’s see what they got in the fridge." Dawn giggled and followed after Spike. Cordelia came down from her floaty voyage. Angel gave Buffy a shocked look. Why was she letting Dawn, and impressionable teenager hang out with Spike?
"What’d you see?" Willow asked. Cordelia shivered.
"I saw Buffy and she was surrounded by an aura of light. She had a sword in her hand, and blood was running down her arm. She looked like she had had the fight of her life. Then this green blobby thing started to try to kill her. And that’s all I saw." Buffy gulped.
"At least I made you have the vision." Willow sheepishly said. Angel stepped in front of Spike.
"Oh no you are not going to pollute my kitchen with your nasty presence!" Dawn backed away.
"What’s wrong peaches? Afraid that if I stay in your kitchen too long, even it will begin to like me more than it does you? It’s inevitable, everyone eventually gets sick of your brooding, hair gel wearing ass." Xander began to giggle.
"God, we’re really never going to get anything accomplished are we?" Giles tiredly said.
Chapter 2-
"We’re going to have to run the streets to see if we can get anymore information." Buffy said as she looked at the faces of her crew. "Cordelia, Willow, and Tara-you guys are going to work on looking up any information you can find. Also, Willow see you if you can do the inducing visions thing." Willow nodded and pulled out her laptop.
"Angel, you and I are going to head out to the sewers. Gunn and Fred, see if you can find the local snitch, and beat him up for information. Xander and Spike--" Xander groaned.
"Do I have to work with him because, I have a stake just itching in my pocket to kill him." Angel grinned.
"You’re not the only one." Spike glared at Angel.
"Shut up you puff." Angel squinted his eyes hatefully at Spike.
"Xander and Spike just do something that looks useful, or else I may have to kill you both!" Buffy screamed. Xander gulped and nodded.
"No need to get your pretty little knickers in a twist love." Spike said seductively. Buffy gave him a tired look. He grinned. His white teeth mocking her.
"Not now Spike. I don’t know if I can handle you being in love with me right now." He shrugged and walked away.
"You don’t know what you’re missing peaches." Spike whispered to Angel. Angel looked up at Spike.
"What are you talking about?"
"Buffy. She’s deserves a lot better than you. But you’re the only one s he wants, and here you are choosing Cordelia. Cordelia is a nice girl and all, but Buffy’s a nice woman. The best one actually. And you fucked it up. If I was you I would do anything to be with her. But you never wanted the best. You always wanted what nobody else did. Like you were trying to be the rebel in a crowd of rebels. You’re fucking stupid." Spike shook his head and walked away.
Angel frowned. He had always despised Spike. But sometimes he was so damn right, that Angel wanted to kill him. When Angel looked up he saw Buffy staring at him. He looked away. She resembled everything that he couldn’t have. She bit her lip.
"I guess we are going to the sewers." She solemnly whispered. Her ax held awkwardly in her hand. She walked slowly away. Cordelia grabbed Angel’s hand before he left after Buffy.
"I want you to know that I love you. I really do. Whatever happens, just know that." Angel nodded.
"I know."
Chapter 3-
"Well that was really eventful." Angel shrugged.
"The mice seemed to like it." Buffy gave Angel a smirk.
"I would have liked it better if I didn’t ruin my new boots. Plus, we didn’t even find out anything useful." Angel nodded.
"How can you ruin boots if they are already dead?" He laughed. Buffy gave him a strange look.
"Was that your attempt at a joke?" She asked.
"It was funny wasn’t it?"
" Maybe if you’ve been dead for almost three hundred years. Man, your comical taste has been dormant so long that it is just so unfunny." Angel frowned.
"Ouch. If my heart was beating that would have stopped it. Man, Buffy that hearts. Telling jokes gets my blood pumping." He started to laugh again. Buffy closed her eyes, and shook her head in shame.
"Dear lord, please make him stop. I want to live a long time. But if he keeps telling these jokes I may have to commit suicide." Angel’s smile disappeared.
"It’s dark outside. Why don’t we just crawl out of the sewers, and walk outside." She nodded.
"Sounds like a plan joke boy." She quipped as she climbed up out of the of the sewer. Angel rolled his eyes as he followed suit.
"It’s a nice night out." He gently commented. Buffy nodded. She loved this park. A nice looking man walked towards them.
"Can I just say you are one of the most beautiful women that I have ever seen up close." Buffy smiled.
"Thank you." She said nicely. Angel’s hand clenched into a fist. After the man had walked away, Buffy gave Angel a big grin. "Wasn’t he just the nicest guy?" She said as she continued walking. Angel stayed a couple feet behind.
"Yeah, real nice." He jealously mumbled.
Chapter 4
"Well here is our returning champion." Xander mocked. Angel gave Xander a hateful glare and Buffy smirked.
"You do get called that a lot. Mr. Champion guy." Buffy gently said. "I thought it used to be the vampire with a soul." Angel down cast his eyes.
"Yeah, well now its champion of justice."
"What am I? The slayer of justice? Why can’t you just be called what you are? I miss that. You seem so different. Like you are trying to be someone you’re not." Angel shrugged and left the room. Cordelia wandered in and slightly smiled at Buffy.
"So you’re a higher power now?" She commented. Cordelia smiled and nodded.
"Yeah. I guess they were right when they said good things happen to good people." Buffy’s lip slightly quivered. Where were her rewards? She was good. But ever since she had gotten into the saving lives business, she had experienced nothing but defeat.
"They made you into a higher power for not being corrupted by your powers?" Cordelia nodded.
"Yeah."
"And exactly how long have you had them?" Cordelia frowned at Buffy.
"You’re just jealous that I have everything I’ve ever wanted and you have nothing." Buffy moved closer to Cordelia. Her breath hot on Cordelia’s face. Cordelia nervously backed away.
"No. I’m just upset that you have everything that I deserve, and I have nothing." Cordelia gazed at her feet.
"I don’t feel sorry for you Buffy. You have had it easier than a lot of us. I mean Doyle died, our office blew up. Angel fired us, and went all crazy. " A tear slowly ran down Buffy’s cheek. Her face began to angrily flush.
"Easier?" She angrily said. "If easier is watching the love of your life walk away from you and tell you he doesn’t want you, or finding out your sister is fake. And that she is just a key that a fucking hell god wants to use to destroy the world! Or dying and coming back from Heaven! Or holding your dead mother in your arms and knowing nothing was ever going to be the same. If easier is all those things, then please give me the prize for having the most fucking easy life! I’ve earned it." She began to do exactly what she didn’t want to do. She began to cry.
"I’m sorry. I didn’t know." Cordelia softly said. Buffy ran out of the hotel and towards her car. Spike called her name.
"What’s the matter luv?" Buffy turned a tear stained face back to look at Spike.
"I let Saint Cordelia make me feel like less than a human being." Spike threw his cigarette down.
"She’s an evil bitch isn’t she? I wouldn’t worry too much luv. She just jealous of you." Buffy laughed.
"Why would she ever be jealous of me? She’s Saint Cordelia, with the perfect life, and Angel." She spread her arms wide and gestured to herself. "Look at me! I have nothing." Spike licked his lips.
"You have what she’ll never have." Buffy raised an eyebrow.
"What?" She whispered.
"Angel’s heart." Buffy put a hand to her head.
"I think that I lost that a long time ago." Spike touched a familiar scar on her neck.
"This is his mark. This means that you are as much a part of him as he is a part of you." Buffy looked into Spike’s blue eyes.
"Why are you saying this to me? You hate Angel." He nodded.
"While that is very true, I don’t hate you. As much as I have tried." Buffy smiled.
"Thanks Spike." He looked up at her and grinned.
"Go back inside and give Cordelia hell. This is your game, not hers." Buffy bit her lip in excitement.
"You’re right. It is my game, and I am going to show that higher power bitch what a slayer is really made of." Spike smacked her butt and nodded.
"Get in there!" Buffy quickly looked back at him and glared. "Hey, I had to try to touch at least your ass or I wouldn’t be a man."
"But, you’re not a man."
"Yeah, but I still have manly urges." He said sweetly.
"I will give you that freebie, but if you do it again you will be compact enough to fit into an ash tray." Buffy said as she walked back into the hotel. Spike grinned. She was feisty.
Chapter 5
Connor watched Buffy walk in from a window on the third floor. Her hair glinted yellow in sunlight, and she looked beautiful even when she cried. He liked Cordelia. She was nice, and she seemed like she wanted to help people, but Buffy was different. She was a warrior. She fought everyday just to save the world. He knew what it felt like to fight. Everyday just to stay alive.
Connor liked Buffy from the first time he saw her. She smiled at him with perfect white teeth, and he could tell it wasn’t pretend. She was smiling at him because she liked him. He thought it was unusual for his father to stare straight through her. She seemed so perfect, and his father looked at her as if she didn’t exist. Connor smiled to himself. Maybe he could help Buffy. Maybe he could make his father see what an ass he was for choosing Cordelia and not Buffy. Just maybe.
Chapter 6
Buffy blinked her eyes. It was getting late and she had been reading this ancient book for at least two hours. She couldn’t find a damn prophecy predicting the rising of some master in L.A., but then she wasn’t the expert on this. Giles was.
"Giles, the words in the book are starting to look like the back of my eyelids, or that could be me falling asleep. It’s all becoming muddled. I can’t find anything on this ascension." Giles took off his glasses and began to clean them.
"It’s okay, I think that I found something." Buffy’s eyes lit up. "The ascension of a demon called Antos. He eats the hearts of children to regain his full power. It says that his rising could bring about the end of the world." Buffy sighed, and rolled her eyes.
"What demon doesn’t bring about the end of the world? I really want to meet a demon that just wants a cup of coffee and nice conversation." Her face took on a disgusted look. "Okay, disturbing image. No thanks. I prefer the evil kind, because I get to kill them." Giles nodded.
"It also says that he is supposed to rise when the sky grows dark even though the light is shining." He said slowly.
"What does that mean? Why do these ancient texts always have to have riddles? Don’t they know we have better things to do?" Giles shrugged his shoulders.
"I think that it means that it is going to happen during a lunar eclipse." She groaned.
"And let me guess. He will rise and chaos will ensue?" Giles looked up from the book.
"Exactly. We need to stop this demon from ascending or we may not be able to stop him at all."
"Okay Giles, I can handle this. I am in slay mode and everything. Remember? I killed Glory, I think that I can pretty much handle anything."
"But the evil wont stop, and each time it will keep getting worse and worse." Buffy stood to her feet.
"It always does. The best thing that I can do right now is to not be afraid. Cordelia had some vision about a fight that seemed like it was to be my last. But I am going to prove her vision wrong. Antos will not be the thing that kills me. So, if you don’t mind I am going to get some rest, so that I can train tomorrow." She turned on her heel, and headed up the stairs. She wasn’t going to let some green blobby demon named Antos be the last of her. She deserved better than that.
Angel stepped out of the darkness at the top of the stairwell. "You can’t do this alone." He whispered.
"I do a lot of things alone, why can’t I do this?" He frowned.
"You came here for my help. I intend to give it to you." Buffy hesitated.
"Why are you with her?" Angel shifted uncomfortably.
"I think love her." A tear slightly edged its way into her eye. She blinked it away.
"But why?" Angel backed away.
"I have to go. Buffy, please let us fight with you." She nodded in agreement.
"Fine," She whispered.
"I’m sorry." He said, barely audible as she walked away.
Chapter 7
And the sky darkens. She silently screams. She looks into the sky. The moon covers the sun, and the light is hidden. She feels the earth shake. She steadies herself. This will be the fight of her life.
Angel glances nervously at her. Buffy smiles encouragingly back. He touches her shoulder. He doesn’t want her to go. She pushes him away and runs towards the green demon that has started to arise. Angel screams out her name. She doesn’t look back.
Connor throws her an ax, and she catches it by its brown handle. Her face tightens as she jumps into the air in attack mode. Buffy winces as she feels heat from an unknown source.
The demon snarls at her and she swings her ax at it. And that’s when she hears it. The deafening scream of pain. She turns her head just in time to see Angel fall to the ground. Her heart sinks as she flies backwards. The demon has struck her.
Angel combusts into ash, and Connor runs towards the demon who is quickly disposing of all her friends. She feels warm liquid on her stomach. She looks down and sees a pool of blood pouring from her body. Her eyelids grow heavy, and she starts to cry. It shouldn’t have ended like this.
Blood begins to run down her lips. She coughs, and her breathing becomes heavy, labored.
Buffy sits up in shock. The dream had seemed so real. Her hands quivered, and she was breathing heavy. She knew in that instant that she had to do this alone. She couldn’t risk killing them. She couldn’t let Angel die. She loved him too much for that.
Connor burst into the room. Buffy gave him a strange look. "Why were you screaming? Are you okay?" He worriedly asked. Buffy nodded.
"I’m okay. I’m sorry, I just had the worst nightmare of my life." Connor gave her the half smile that his father is famous for. She patted the bed next to her. "Sit down. Stay awhile." He slowly walked towards her and sat down. "I know you have had a hard life Connor. So have I. I don’t want to say that I know how you feel, because I don’t, but I want you to know that you can talk to me. I know how crazy your dad and Cordelia can be."
"I know you and my father used to be together. It must be hard for you to see him with Cordelia." She looked down towards her hands. It seemed that she and Angel were a big topic of discussion now a days.
"It’s hard, but I want him to be happy. And if Cordelia makes him happy, I want him to want her." Connor looked into her eyes. She stared back and wondered what he was searching for.
"She’s no good for him. She’s not what he wants."
"Why does everybody keep telling me that?" Connor smiled.
"Because its true." Angel listened through the door way, and wondered if everyone else knew better than he. He wondered if everyone else knew he was still in love with Buffy.
Chapter 8
It was time. She could feel it in her soul. Antos was coming. She felt like he was beckoning her towards him. Buffy stood to her feet. She had to go. She picked up a piece of paper and a pen and began to write Angel a short note.
Angel,
I’m sorry you couldn’t fight with me. But if you would have you would have died. Please understand this. If I don’t come back take care of Dawn and tell her that I love her. I don’t know if you want to know this, but I love you. I hope you live a happy life Angel.
Buffy
She grabbed her sword and ran out the front door. The light was blinding, but she continued to run. Buffy felt the pull stronger now. She could feel Antos bringing her to him. Today would be his last. She ran until she reached a dark alley about twenty blocks from the hotel.
She looked into the sky, and the moon moved over the sun. It was dark outside. She sucked her breath in and hoped that she would live the next ten minutes well.
Chapter 9
Angel knocked on Buffy’s door. He was about to do something that he had been fearing for the longest time. He was about to tell Buffy that he was sorry that he had chosen Cordelia, and that it was all just a mistake. He wanted her back like nothing else. No one answered his knock.
"Buffy?" He called.
No answer. He called again. But she still didn’t answer. He slowly opened the door and nervously called her name again. He found a note on her dresser that made him start to shake inside.
"Giles!" He screamed. Giles ran down the long hall to Angel’s voice.
"Yes? What is it Angel?" Angel’s eyes were full of panic.
"She went to fight Antos by herself. She went alone." Giles stumbled backwards.
"We have to find her before she gets herself killed!" Angel nodded and went to get Connor.
Willow ran up the hotel stairs and asked what all the panic was about. Angel frowned and put a hand on her shoulder. Her face paled. "Buffy went to fight that demon by herself. She just left, and now we don’t have any idea of where she might have went." Willow started to slightly shake.
"Calm down red. You know the Buff, she is always fighting alone. Like a slayer was mean to. She’s strong, if any of us can make it, it’s her." Spike soothingly whispered. Willow nodded. "Anyways," Spike smiled evilly, "The Champion will save her. Wont he, champion?" Spike looked towards Angel. Angel groaned.
"Yeah Angel, what’s up with the nickname? I thought you were just that vampire with a soul guy." Spike and Willow looked at Angel intently.
"How can you guys be all worried about Buffy one minute, and the next wonder why I am called the Champion?" Spike chuckled.
"Calm down Peaches. We just wanted to know what was up with the new title. We are still worried about the slayer." Willow smiled and agreed.
"You have to admit, it is pretty dorky." Willow commented. "I mean it could just mean so many things. Like you could be the champion of a little kids soccer team. It really-" Angel cut her off.
"Okay, we need to concentrate on Buffy!"
"Oh, right. Got a little sidetracked."
Chapter 10
The wind whipped oddly at her face, but she stared straight forward at the demon who was looking at her with curious eyes. His body was massive and green. He snarled at her. "So you’re Antos? I’ve seen worse. Of course, they never ate little children or anything. You know, you’re really sick." He moved in quick lithe motions towards her. She jumped into the air to avoid his forceful punch. She landed harshly on her feet, and slightly winced at the pain of her landing.
Too slow to standing to her feet, she was knocked down as Antos painfully smacked her across her back. She landed on her face. Her sword was inches away from her hand, and she quickly grabbed it, and hopped to her feet. Buffy swung the sword, and it hummed with fierce speed as it sliced through the air and on to his green flesh. Purple blood oozed out of the wound, and Buffy’s nose twitched at the rancid smell.
Antos screamed in agony, and in turn swung his green slimy fist at Buffy. She ducked and avoided it, but he had another hand equipped with claws ready, and caught her arm. She yelped, and Antos gave her a sinister smile. Her shirt sleeve fell off her petite arm in shreds. She gave him an angry stare.
"That was my favorite shirt! You are so going to pay!" She spin kicked him in his face, and he tumbled backwards. She jabbed him quick and fast repeatedly in his stomach, and he moaned in pain. "Is that all you got?" She yelled feistily. His body began to rumble. "Uh oh." She said.
His arms began to break out of what looked like a shell, and his body transformed into an ominous green blob like substance. She gulped. The ground started to shake beneath her feet, and her heart began to pound faster.
And then her feet began to rise off the ground. Her hair rose in the air and began to shine like silver. The sword in her hand began to hum. A haunting light began to surround her body, and her eyes turned bright red.
Antos’ eyes widened as he watched the slayer in front of him start to glow. Her body flowed with renew energy and Buffy swung the sword at Antos with righteous fury. His arm toppled off and rolled into the alleyway.
Chapter 11
"Woah guys, we have some major seismic activity going on here!" Fred excitedly said. Angel ran towards her computer, on which she was looking at recent news.
"That’s odd." Giles commented.
"Not really for L.A." Gunn stated.
"But this activity takes place in only one spot. It’s local and it hasn’t affected any of the surrounding area." Fred babbled.
"Sounds like a place where a demon would rise." Angel whispered as he grabbed his battle ax. Connor followed suit and grabbed a sword out of the weapons cabinet. Spike smiled and ran towards the cabinet and grabbed a crossbow .
"My personal favorite." He threw Xander a stake and Xander frowned.
"What am I supposed to do with this?"
"Give him a splinter. I don’t know. But we gotta go!" Xander rolled his eyes and ran out the front door. Spike ran up to Angel who was moving at an exaggerated pace. "Glad this is happening during the semi-dark time because I wouldn’t want to miss out on the action." Angel turned his head to look at Spike.
"If this Antos guy, even touches Buffy he’s going to wish that he had never ascended." Spike grinned.
"I like you better when you’re all angry. You’re more fun." Angel rolled his eyes and continued to run down the street.
Chapter 12
Buffy flew back against the wall. Her red eyes became a strange tint of yellow, and she jumped back to her feet. Antos groaned. "Why wont you just die!" He angrily yelled. She grinned and quickly ran towards his blob of a body. She jumped into the air and forcefully kicked him underneath his jaw. He flew and hit his back, and groaned in pain. She walked up to him and stepped on his heaving chest, purposely grinding the heel of her boot into his body. He moaned.
"Time to say goodbye." She whispered.
"You’ve got company slayer!" She heard voices yell. She heavily sighed and turned around. The two demons she heard talking in the cemetery angrily stared back at her. She began to laugh.
"Is this all you could get to follow you? Two measly demons?" She hunched over as she laughed and patted her leg. The demons gave her an offended look. "I was expecting more out of you Antos, really, I was."
"Hey, we are perfectly credible bad guys. We’ve killed things before." She gave them a mock shocked look.
"Oh really?" She asked.
"Yeah, one time I killed a drunk guy." One of the minions proudly said. She looked him in the eyes. He shivered. "Okay, I watched him get killed, but if he wouldn’t have gotten hit by that car, I so woulda done it." She began to laugh again.
"And the books said Antos was to bring about the end of the world!" She laughed harder.
"Antos? Bring about the end of the world? He just wanted coffee and conversation. He wouldn’t hurt a fly." One of the minions said. Buffy groaned. Her worst nightmare. A demon who wanted coffee and conversation.
"Well, I think that you are lying because he tried to kill me. See," She said as she pointed to her cut arm on which velvet red blood was running down the creamy flesh. Their eyes widened.
"Why are you all glowy, and your eyes are all yellow?" The other minion asked. She looked down at her skin and saw it glowing. She grinned.
"I don’t know, but I feel a hell of a lot stronger. And in the mood to kick some demon ass!" The two demons looked at each other, screamed and ran with all their might. Buffy grinned, and turned her attentions back to Antos who was now coughing up purple ooze. She frowned. Gross.
"I can’t let you live Antos. I hear you eat children, and where I come from that’s just not kosher. So, I have to give you the heave ho." Antos snarled at her and pushed her off of his lard like body. She stumbled backwards, and lost the grip on her sword. He jumped to his feet, and began to jiggle with anger.
"Okay, that is so gross. I better kill you before I lose my lunch." She ran towards him, her swords strongly gripped in her hands and raise high into the cool air.
Chapter 13
Angel rounded the corner just as he heard Buffy’s battle cries. He ran faster. What he saw astounded him. Buffy sword in hand glowing. Her hair was glinting in a sliver color that he had never before seen. She swung the sword over her and brought it crashing down. Antos’ other arm now had a large gash in the side.
Xander stood next to Angel. "Man look what you did to her. You left her for Cordelia and now she is trying to turn into her. Look at her. She is all higher power glowing and everything." Xander whined.
"Yeah puff. What’s up with that?" Spike said as he watched Buffy spin kick Antos in the face, and she knocked him on his bottom. "Man, she’s really fast." Xander nodded in agreement.
Gunn ran up and joined the group of bystanders watching the petit slayer kick Antos’s butt. "Damn! Home girl’s kickin’ major demon ass!" Gunn blurted. Spike smirked.
"We’re aware of that. Peaches here is mesmerized." Spike said referring to Angel who’s eyes were firmly glued to Buffy. Gunn chuckled.
Connor looked questioningly at his father. "She wouldn’t we help her or something?" Angel looked down to him.
"This is her fight son. She can do this alone."
"She just wants you to be happy." Connor touched his father’s shoulder.
"What do you mean?"
"Even though everyone in the world has no idea why you want to be with Cordelia, she understands because she just wants you to be happy." Spike huffed.
"Although I don’t understand why she likes Mr. Broody over here. He is always whining. But she wants you for some unknown reason, everyone knows I am so much better looking." He ran his fingers through his hair, and bits of gel fell to the ground.
"Watch out Spike. It’s starting to look like Christmas in July." Angel quipped. Spike glared.
"Did anyone ever tell you, that you really suck at the jokes. I mean you stole that from a movie."
"Hey, Dr. Doolittle is the epitome of comedy." Spike rolled his eyes.
"The bear was the only funny thing in that movie. I mean what was up with the racoon, and beaver in the mob?" Xander looked at each other in confusion. They would never understand Spike and Angel’s relationship.
Buffy walked up to the group, covered in purple ooze. She gave them a confused stare. "What are you all doing here?" Angel stepped forward.
"Um, we thought that you needed help fighting," He looked behind her and saw bits and pieces of Antos spread along the alleyway. He gulped. "Antos. But it seems you have everything under control. She nodded.
"Yeah, the Codex made him seem all unkillable. But he was a cinch. Actually he might have been too easy." Angel glanced at her arm.
"Then why are you all bleeding?"
"Hey, I never said he didn’t get a few good hits in." Connor nudged his dad.
"Dad just tell her. Stop wasting time!" Xander whistled.
"Yeah, tell her you have no idea why you chose Cordelia because she is too bossy, and she tells you how to dress, and she makes you feel self confident." Everyone turned to look at Xander. "Sorry guys, I still have anger issues. Spike nodded and patted him on the back.
"You just have to pick yourself up man. You just have to pick yourself up."
"Yeah, girls like Cordelia are too high maintenance. You’re probably better off without her." Gunn said. Xander smiled.
"Thanks guys. You wanna go get a drink or something?" Gunn and Spike nodded and they walked off and around the block. Buffy shook her head.
"Can I just say that was really disturbing?"
"Say that again." Angel answered.
"So you wanted to tell me something?" Buffy questioned.
Chapter 14
"I just wanted to tell you that I really do love you and I regret all and any time spent with Cordelia. I want to be with you." Buffy gave Angel an unreadable look.
"It took you 10 blocks to say that. Are you aware you made me wait twenty minutes before you told me you weren’t with Cordelia anymore?" Angel laughed.
"It was either that or I was going to tell you a joke." Buffy smiled.
"In that case I am so, so, so glad that you made me wait twenty minutes. Your jokes are horrible!" He put his hand over his heart.
"That really hurts Buffy." He playfully said.
"Will you just kiss me already?" She impatiently said. Angel stopped walking and looked at her seriously.
"Of course." He said as he brought his lips down to hers. He kissed her softly. "You know I heard somewhere-" She covered his mouth.
"Shut up." She said as she began to kiss him again.
"You know I really do love you." She groaned.
"You know Angel you are really making me testy." She smiled.
"I was aiming for that."
"Is this how we are going to be from now on? Like an old married couple?" He gently touched her cheek.
"If you give me that long." He said as he gave her a deep look. She stared silently at him, and he brought his lips closer to hers.
"Take all the time you need." She softly whispered.
"Forever," He said into her ear as he kissed it softly. "Forever.
"Sounds good to me." She answered happily back. Good things happen to good people.
