The mansion had been thoroughly decorated by Buffy. A huge Christmas tree was set up in the living room. It had been decorated with real tinsel, white lights, and hand-painted ornaments. Little nets of dried fruits hung amidst the branches. On top was a silver star, shining brightly.

The mantle above the fireplace had pine boughs lain on it, and in the middle was a red candle. A merry fire burned in the fireplace.

Presents crowded the space under the tree. They were of every shape and size imaginable, wrapped in all kinds of materials.

They were all gathered in the room. Buffy sat on Angel's lap. Willow and Oz were lounging on the pillows at the foot of the tree. Buffy's mother was sitting on a bench near the fireplace, and Xander and Cordelia occupied the couch.

"Sorry we're late." said Giles as he bustled in with Ms. Calender. The two bore bags of presents, which they put down near the tree.

"About time you got here." said Cordelia. "Anytime you guys are ready."

Xander pulled the first present out from under the tree. "From Buffy, to Willow."

Willow unwrapped her presents, and found a moon and star candleholder. "Thanks, Buffy!"

Buffy grinned. Xander pulled out another package. "To Giles, from Joyce."

Giles unwrapped his present. "Feudal tribes of Japan. Thank you, Ms. Summers."

"You're welcome." said Joyce. She reached under the tree and grabbed another present. "From Angel, to Buffy."

Buffy took the present, and unwrapped it. She found a wooden box engraved with the words "Mary Baker." Curious, she opened it.

A brooch with a ruby set in the middle was lying on top of blue velvet. A claddagh ring had been engraved above the ruby. "It's beautiful, Angel."

Angel smiled slightly. "It belonged to a Slayer back in my time." he said. Buffy nodded, and put it aside. Giles reached into one of the bags. "To me, from Jenny."

He unwrapped it very carefully, trying not to rip the paper.

"Just unwrap it already!" said Cordelia. "God! It's Christmas, hello!"

Giles finally finished unwrapping his present. It was a book. On the cover, it said "Diary of Kito-san."

"Kito-san's lost journal!" said Giles in amazement. "Jenny, this is wonderful!"

"I'm glad you liked it." said Jenny.

Xander grabbed a small package wrapped in red silk, and tossed it to Buffy. "It's for you." he said bluntly. "From Angel."

Buffy unwrapped the box, and opened it. Inside was a golden claddagh ring. "Oh, Angel, it's beautiful." she murmured.

Angel kissed her softly. "I thought you'd like it." he said softly.

"What is it?" asked Xander, looking curious, and slightly jealous.

Buffy and Angel ignored him. Buffy slid the ring onto her finger. "It fits perfectly!"

"Of course." said Angel.

The rest of the presents were unwrapped, dinner was eaten, and eventually, each of Buffy's friends found their way out of the mansion, leaving Buffy and Angel alone.

It was only then that Buffy noticed one last package under the tree. It was addressed to her and Angel.

"Angel, we missed one." she called softly. Angel came to her side, and looked at the square box. "I wonder what it is?" he said.

Buffy tore the wrappings off, and opened it. A card had been wrapped and taped on top of a wooden box. She opened the envelope, and pulled out a fancy card. Opening it she read "From Jenny to Buffy and Angel. A gift for both of you."

She opened the box. A stream of light flew out, and entered Angel's mouth!

"Angel!" Buffy cried out. He blinked a couple of times. "I don't think it's evil." he said, looking puzzled.

Turning over the card, she read "This holds the spell that will remove the clause from Angel's curse. Merry Christmas from all of your friends."

With a cry of joy, Buffy hugged Angel. He extracted the card from her hand, and read it. Then he threw it aside, and kissed her deeply.

Buffy returned the kiss with fervor, and they stumbled into the bedroom. As they lay on the bed kissing, Angel looked up, then smiled down at Buffy. "We're under the mistletoe." he murmured, kissing her neck.

No more words were spoken for a long time afterwards.
