by PixieLiz

Summery: Instead of Wesley saving Angel.... Buffy does.
AN: I just watched the seasoned premier and I was somewhat disappointed. So I'm fixing it. I wrote this really fast, so there is bound to be spelling and grammar mistakes. Sorry about that.
Spoilers :Yes. the season premier of Angel and to be safe, everything in the whole show.
Rating: R (for some sexuality, not much, but some)

Buffy stood at the front of the boat, scanning the ocean surface, as Xander drove the boat. She had gotten the call only 2 hours before then, and she was already on the boat, donated by Wesley, looking for her ex-vampire lover. No, her life wasn't too complicated.

Wesley came out and stood beside her. "I can't believe he was out here for the whole summer and I never knew about it. I've completely lost touch with him." she said with barely any emotion. She was running of pure adrenalin.

The former watcher cleared his throat. "Well, I'm not so sure about that. I think you just have you're own life now." he tried to soothe her. He wasn't on the greatest of terms with the blond Slayer, they had never been best buddies, but right now they needed each other to find Angel.

"I guess." she agreed and hung her head. She reached out, but couldn't feel him. He was either dead, or so far gone that she couldn't sense him at all.

"Buffy. I came out here to warn you that Angel will be somewhat out of sorts. He's been contained and starved down there for 3 months. There might be some neurological damage." he said gravely.

She nodded in understanding. "He might not remember me. Is that what you're staying?" she asked. Then said, "I know. I just want him to be back on dry land, then I'll go back to Sunnydale."

"I'm just saying that he'll be delusional. He might think you aren't real." Wesley corrected. "I think it would be best if you didn't leave for a few days after we bring him back." he told her.

Suddenly the boat stopped. "Guys. You gotta come take a look at this." Xander called from inside the cab. Buffy hurried into the cab and looked at the underwater monitor. "Looks like metal to me." he told her.

Buffy nodded and ran out of the cab and to the edge of the boat. "Buffy, no!" Wesley and Xander called after her, but she was already diving into the water.

With the help of her Slayer strength and stamina Buffy was able to swim down far enough to look into the small window on the metal coffin like box. She unclipped her flashlight from the belt of her jeans and shone it into the window. She almost gasped when she saw him. His skin was cracked and dry.

Angel opened his eyes and looked into the light of the small flashlight. He smiled, thinking he was finally going to die. Then the light went away and there was the face of one person whom he didn't expect to ever see again. "Buffy." he mouthed, as he was too weak to speak. Then she went away and swam back up to the surface.

When she broke to the surface she cried out, "It's him. Get the crane down there!" She swam to the boats lower end and pulled herself onboard with the help of Xander. "I think we can still save his mind." she said, a little puffed out from all the adrenaline pumping through her. They found him.

"How do you know that?" Xander asked.

Buffy smiled, "He recognized me." then she went to help Wesley set up the crane and she dove down again to hook up the chains to the box that Angel was trapped in. When she emerged again, Wesley was already hauling the box up.

All three of them lifted the box on board. Wesley immediately undid the seal and slid the bar out of the hinges and him and Buffy lifted the lid off. "Angel." Buffy went to his side and touched his face. He opened his eyes, tried to say something, then closed them again. "Let's get him outta this thing."

Wesley cut the restraints and they hauled him out of the box and brought him down into the cabin of the boat. They laid him on the table and covered him up. "B-Buffy?" he said weakly.

"Wes, where's the blood?" she asked. The ex watcher took a jar of blood out of the cooler and handed it to her. She took the lid off the jar and propped his head of with her free hand. "Here, drink this." she said softly.

The others left the room to give them privacy. They stayed in the cab of the boat. Wesley steered the boat back to land while Xander called Fred and Gunn to tell them.

A little while later Buffy came up from the cabin. "How is he?" Wesley asked.

Buffy took a breath. "Well, you were right. He thinks that I'm a hallucination. He's resting right now." she rubbed her arms and sat down in a chair. "I still don't think that pigs blood is enough." She had changed into her dry clothes she brought with her.

"Buffy you can't let him feed of you. He might not stop. He's been starved at the bottom of the ocean for three months." Xander told her sternly.

"My blood is the best right now. He doesn't have to take very much." she rationalized.

"The last time he fed of you he put you in the hospital." her friend argued.

"That was different." she snapped.

"How?"

"That was... Just, it's the only way we can make certain that he'll be himself when this is over." she told them. "I can control him. If he takes any more than he needs, I'll stop him. This isn't a huge thing. I've been through worse."

"Agreed." Wesley said. They all looked at him. "He needs more adequate nourishment. A Slayer's blood is the cure to all vampire sicknesses." he kept his eyes facing forward.

"Okay." with that Buffy went back into the cabin. Xander just sat there stunned.

Angel was staring at someone that wasn't there. "I should have killed you." he said to the imaginary person.

"Should have killed who?" she asked as she walked up to his side and took his hand. He just stared at her. "It's okay, Angel. I'm real. You aren't imagining me." she assured him. She touched his cheek, and he closed his eyes relishing the warmth of her hand. "I know how long you were down there. It's over now. We're going home." she told him. He nodded his understanding. "Can you sit up?" she asked. She helped him sit up and took him over to the couch against the wall of the cabin. She held him upright and straddled his lap. Pulling her hair away from the side of her neck that had the scar.

"No." he refused, but he was too weak to stop her from pulled his face to her neck. He was too weak to resist pressing his lips to her warm, smooth skin. Then his face shifted and he sunk his fangs into the scar he had created 4 years earlier.

Buffy let out a little cry when his fangs broke her skin, then moaned softly when she felt him start sucking. She held his head to her as warmth spread though her whole body and ended indefinitely at her core. She whimpered and ground her crotch into him. She felt his arms wrap around her tightly, holding her close.

After he took a few more mouthfuls of her healing blood he extracted his fangs from her neck and licked the wound closed. He lifted his head and looked into her face, her eyes were closed. He was completely aware now, the wonders of Slayers blood, especially this Slayers blood, completely quenched his maddening hunger. "Buffy." he said softly, now he knew she was real.

She opened her eyes. "Hey." She replied, then realized how compromising their position was and started to get off him, but he grabbed her hips and stopped her from moving. She looked into his eyes, stunned. "Are you okay now?" she asked. Their lips were so close to touching.

Angel didn't even hear her question. How could he have ever thought that he was in love with Cordelia? This, what he had with Buffy, was love. With Cordelia had been a temporary attraction, plus he was lonely. "I love you." he said.

Buffy felt her heart ache. "I love you too, Angel." He tried to get up again, this time he let her. "Can you stand?" she asked.

He was up and standing right in front of her, towering over her, his lips mere inches from hers. "I'm fine. Thanks to you." he said. "Are you okay?" he asked, his concern evident.

She almost cried. It was just like old times. "Yeah. Peachy with a side-a keen." she said. She ran her eyes up down his tall form then let out a nervous laugh. "We should go upst-" she was cut off when his lips pressed against hers. He held her tightly against him and kissed her with the passion of a man dying of thirst would be towards a glass of water. She immediately responded. Oh, god help her, he tasted the same. She was falling so hard all over again. When the kiss ended she was breathless. "upstairs." she finished.

"You're right." he agreed.

"Yeah." then he kissed her again. "I missed you." he said between kisses. He ran his hands down her sides, over her curves, the same curves he used to touch so many years before.

"I missed you too." she said then broke the kiss. "Nothing's changed." she told him. "We still can't be together. There's too much at stake."

"I guess you're right. But, being at the bottom of the ocean for three months sorta made me re-evaluate the reasons I left you." he told her. Buffy scarcely dared to hope. "I thought I would never see you again, and I regretted leaving you because if I hadn't left you, I would have never been in that box. I would be with you."

Buffy smiled. "Yeah." she wanted him back so bad. But she just had to mess with his head. "I'm gonna need was serious groveling, a lot of flowers, preferable red and pink roses, you can never make decisions about anything with me, unless you're planning a surprise birthday party."

"Whatever you want." he promised.

"Good." They kissed again.

Now if only he could find out how to tell her about Conner.
