Buffy hugged herself firmer, trying to still feel the things of her dream. *He* had been in it, holding her close, telling her how much he loved her. But her wasn't there holding her close, he was in LA, hours away.

Angel had been in LA for almost four months and she missed him so much. She would have dreams of him holding her close, but she would wake up and he was gone. God did she miss him.

Buffy wanted to feel him there, kiss him, see into his dark eyes.

Wiping a stray tear from her eye, she tried not to cry loud. She was in her first week of college, with a new roommate, a clean freak who needed her *precious* sleep every night.

Hugging herself closer, she closed her yes tight and tried to sleep.

Buffy was awakened by the phone ringing. She groggily opened her eyes and saw her roommate wasn't there. She picked up the phone from its cradle and answered.

"Hello?"

"Buffy?"

No. It couldn't be.

"Angel?"

"Buffy."

Buffy could feel another tear coming and she wiped it out her eye.

"Hi," she replied wearily. "What's up?"

"Just seeing how you are."

Buffy's heart fell deeper into sadness; he just wanted to see how she was.

"I'm good," she replied. Sure, she was *really* good. "College is going great."

Angel must have known this wasn't true and said, "I know you're not good."

"Why'd you call me if you're just going to lecture me?" Buffy yelled into the phone. He tears were coming steadily now, but she didn't bother to wipe them away. Why did she need to?

Thinking of a quick excuse, she said, "I've got to get to class."

Without waiting for his reaction, she slammed the phone back into its cradle and rolled back up in blankets.

It was dark out, Buffy knew. Everyone was at the Bronze, including her stuck up roommate. Buffy just wanted to sleep, instead of having the feeling of loneliness for Angel. Hugging her knees to her chest, she pulled the covers to her and chin and waited.

*****

Buffy's dream ended as suddenly as it had began, but it was the best one she'd had in months. She tried to hold onto it with all her willpower, but she couldn't, it ended just like the others. Buffy hugged herself anyway, she hoped maybe she would keep the feeling this time.

But something was different. *Arms* were around her. Strong arms, loving arms… Angel's arms.

She prayed that this wasn't a dream, but that Angel was there with her, holding her tight. She looked up, there he was. His dark brown eyes looking down at her, holding her close. He *was* there.

"Angel?"

"Hey."

Buffy smiled. Angel kissed her hair. Buffy's smile widened, feeling his tight grip on her.

"What are you doing here?" Buffy asked. "I thought you were in LA."

"I was," said Angel. "But Willow commented to Xander, who told Cordelia that you were depressed.

"Yeah, so…"

"I came to make you feel better."

Buffy broke free from his grasp and scrambled off the bed, onto the floor. Buffy saw the confusion in his eyes and said, "Don't think you can come her for a few days, think you made me feel better, and leave. It doesn't happen like that Angel!"

Buffy's eyes started to water, but she kept going.

"I was happy when you were here! But now you're not her and everything sucks! I have no one to be with! Willow's got Oz and Xander's got… I'm not sure who he has, but I have no one! No one to go to the Bronze with, no one to comfort me, nothing!"

Buffy feel to the floor hugging her knees to her stomach, resting her chin to her knees sobbing.

"WHY AREN'T YOU HERE?" she screamed at him, not caring who heard her. "WHY?"

Angel slowly rose form the bed and came to her. He tried to touch her, but she pulled away.

"I have dreams that you're still her, holding me, comforting me. But I wake up and you're not here! It sucks!"

Buffy started to sob, tears blocked her vision, but she wiped them away. She got up and turned for the door. She ran out of her room, not knowing where she was going, just somewhere she could cry.

Angel stood there dumbfounded.

This was bad.

*****

Buffy couldn't believe she was here. Whatever possessed her to come here? To this mansion? Angel's mansion? Why?

She walked knowingly to the couch. No one would buy this place because it was in the cemetery. Buffy laughed to herself, good thing with so many zombies and crap, you'd think.

Settling onto the couch and resting all her weight onto the couch, she recalled all the memories this place had.

Her and Angel practicing Tai Chi… her and Angel making out… her and Angel making out… again… Faith's evil watcher blowing things up with the Glove of Lagos… Angel pretending to be evil… Angel kissing Faith… and pretending to like it.

Buffy pushed those thoughts aside and focused on something else. Even trying as hard as she could, she kept coming back to Angel. The Angel that held her heart. Her Angel.

She had to go back and see him.

Buffy rose from the couch and turned for the door. She found Angel instead. Buffy swallowed hard and looked at the floor. He probably didn't want her anymore, not after her outburst.

But, she was wrong, Angel took her hands in his and pulled her to him. Buffy slowly slid her arms around his neck, holding this precious moment in her mind, she would keep this forever. Angel embraced her back, holding her close, this is what Buffy's dreams were about… Angel being there.

Buffy and Angel stayed in their embrace, until Angel said to her quietly, "I'm coming back.

Buffy's heart lightened and she tried to control her happiness.

"Really?"

"Yes."

Buffy hugged him closer. This was her best dream that she'd ever had come true.

Her Angel was back.

The End
