Summary.. Buffy's POV after The Gift
Dedication.. To every person who reads this and believes that one day true love will prevail.
Her essence flowed to and fro
Across the great expanse
Searching for the one who held
Her heart in his hands
Her journey now, outside herself
Was coming to an end
The time was near for body and soul
To be joined once again
That moment that she had decided
To shed this mortal coil
Was etched in pain across her heart
Knowing this time death she would not foil
To leave behind all that she loved
Was nearly more than she could stand
But never again would she sacrifice
A loved one by her own hand
What is it that makes love grow
But memories and feelings and time
So standing in front of me
All I see is a sister of mine
No time to really say goodbye
No time to ease the way
Just time to say I love you, and them
Then I must go and you all must stay
She feels that old familiar pang
That tells her he is near
And with trepidation and with joy
She rushes to be there
When she died did she expect
For him to mourn and weep
For him to finally greet the sun
And want that eternal sleep
Her essence quickens with the fact
And dies a little too
To have him standing oh so close
But instead of tears, it is laughter she does view
She never wanted him to give up
When of her death he heard
But in her heart of hearts she will admit
To wanting to know he still cared
She wraps the pain around herself
And approaches on silent feet
Spilling her essence over all of him
Waiting for their souls to meet
Then as suddenly as the sun emerges
After the summer shower
The laughter stops and he is still
As he feels her eternal power
He rushes from the room
Leaving behind his bewildered friends
She chases him up step and stair
Hoping against hope that he understands
When all alone in his room
He gazes at something only he can see
And with tears flowing freely down his cheeks
He whispers I love you I love you, endlessly
She once again envelops him
In her loving essence so bright
For now she knows that neither time nor death
Can take her from his sight
She feels the pull of her body
Dragging her soul back where it belongs
And with one last caress of her essence sweet
She touches her true love and is gone
Now one journey has ended and a new one begins
This time happiness and love will be her guide
It might not come in the blink of an eye
But with her true love, her soul-mate, is where she will reside.
