Authors Note: This takes place post ascension. This is my whole way of stopping all the show's crap before it starts...... Oh and Quit Breaking My Heart belongs to Mandy Moore

It was over, after a long and hard fight the ascension was over. To think, Buffy should be happy all her hard work paid off. She was anything but happy. The love of her life was leaving her. Leaving her without her consent. Now Buffy was left in quiet thought, all her friends had left and she was now waiting for her guardian Angel to leave. It was now she realized she couldn't live without him. She didn't want a normal life, she wanted him. So what if they couldn't have children, or make love, or go in the sun. Wasn't their love strong enough. Couldn't love conquer all?

As she stood there in her own troubled thoughts she saw Angel's figure in the distance. Oh how hard life would be without him. How could he do this to her. Didn't he love her? He doesn't realize how much he is hurting her by doing what he thinks will help her. She see's the look in his eyes and knows he will not say goodbye. Maybe it will be easier that way. Who was she kidding? Anyway without him would be the hardest thing she had to do in life. Who would be there to protect her? To love her the way Angel did. They locked eyes, and with that Angel turned and left. At this Buffy's heart gave a painful wrench and she let out a soul piercing scream as she fell to the floor. She was in emotional agony. Was it possible to die of a broken heart, because she was headed on a one way street straight into her own death if that were the case.....

She sat there for what must have been an hour sobbing huge wracking sobs. The only thought that ran through her head was how much she hurt right now. As she sat there crying, she felt a gentle hand on her shoulder and she immediately knew who it was. She was surprised she hadn't sensed him sooner.

"I couldn't leave you Buffy. I am so sorry for being such an idiot. How can I leave the one thing that means the most to me. You are the only love I have ever known in this bleak existence of mine Buffy. I hope this doesn't sound selfish, but I want you, if you"ll forgive me"

"Do you really love me Angel, if you really loved me would you even think of leaving me? Would you ever consider asking me first? Would you ever make me feel like you don't love me. That all I am to you is a joke. Just another little girl totally madly crazy for you?" With her last sentence she once again collapsed down crying. Angel caught her and carried her to a nearby bench. They sat there in the quiet night.

"Oh Buffy, you have no idea how much I love you. For you I would face the fiery pits of hell. I would even die for you. I don't know what I was thinking when I was about to leave you. Maybe I was trying to be unselfish Angel. Not wanting you to be tied down to a monster like me"

"Angel, how many times do I have to tell you how much I love you. Angelus and you are two different people and I love you. The sweet, caring, and gorgeous Angel whom I adore." With that the lovers slowly drew their heads together to join as one in a sensual embrace. They conveyed all their feelings in that kiss. When Buffy went up for air Angel spoke up.

"Listen Buffy, if you will have me I would love to be with you again. In fact... With that Angel got down on one knee... Buffy, you are my heart soul and life and I would love for you to be my wife."

Buffy who was ecstatic jumped into Angels arms and began raining kisses on him. "Of course I will my Angel"

"Ummmmm, Buffy would this be a good time to tell you my soul is permanent?"

With that Buffy gave him a punch in the arm. "That's for almost leaving me. You definitely have some making up to do." With that, Angel lifted her in his arms, over his shoulder headed straight to the mansion(The bedroom no doubt hehehe)

"Oh I think that can be arranged said Angel as they walked off into the night...
