'She's like the wind through my tree
She rides the night next to me
She leads me through moonlight
Only to burn me with the sun
She's taken my heart
But she doesn't know what she's done…'
Buffy.
Amazing how one short word could cause such a myriad of emotions. A word that could bring a smile to my lips and at the same time a blood tear to my eyes. It could warm my non-beating heart, make me catch my non-breath and tie me up in knots.
There was no doubt she was under my skin.
'Feel her breath on my face
Her body close to me
Can't look in her eyes
She's out of my league
Just a fool to believe I have anything she needs
She's like the wind…'
Why am I doing this to myself? I'm a vampire and she's the Slayer. We can't be together. We're mortal enemies; and yet. When we're together there's something. A spark. A flicker of hope. Maybe she is the one.
'I look in the mirror and all I see
Is a young old man with only a dream
Am I just fooling myself
That she'll stop the pain
Living without her
I'd go insane…'
We keep walking away. But for how much longer? It's getting harder and harder to walk away and I know she feels that too. We're both trying to deny something that won't be denied. This is stronger than both of us. I need her more than I have ever needed anything before. She is my hopes, my fears, my dreams.
