AN- AU fic. From my own little mind. This is the first part of a
trilogy
story. This part is with Buffy being a vamp. Enjoy!
Part 1
It was a fight Angel would never forget. It had been exactly 6 months ago. Angel had been called down from LA to help with a pack of Marichi demons that had been raiding Sunnydale. Buffy had been fighting with him. Mad that he could only come when trouble there was trouble. They had yelled and been in the middle of an argument when they were jumped by the demons and a pack of vampire. They both had been doing pretty good, but Buffy was getting worn out.
* "Angel! I need help!" *
He could remember her yelling and swearing, but he couldn't get to her. It seemed as if the demons had kept coming in swarms. Angel tried to help her, but he just couldn't. The fight went on for what seemed to be hours. Angel didn't really know how long it had been. The strongest, most powerful demon had challenged the Slayer. And Buffy being Buffy she didn't back down. Marichis were known for the work in hypnotizing. This one had managed to get her under his control. He ordered the other demons to hold Angel back. Though he resisted, he was no match. Angel had watched in horror as Buffy stood there, motionless as they demon advanced on her. He simply chanted and Buffy fell to the ground.
* "Buffy!" *
Angel had screamed. Then he watched, helpless to save her, as a vampire came foreword and bit her, drained her, and turned her. She made no sound as she dies. No movement. The vampire looked up and smiled proudly. He had just killed the all powerful Slayer. And turned her into a creature of the night. Angel remembered being awash in his pain. The demons just threw him to the ground. Not bothering killing the sobbing vampire. Angel had gathered up his love's body and sobbed. He cursed the heavens above for taking her. He cursed the Powers That Be for lying to him. He cursed himself for not protecting her. He knew she would rise. He tried to stake he. He did. But seeing her lying there so peaceful, his eyes deceived him. They told him that she was sleeping, though her chest did not rise and fall. Angel had carried her body to the mansion. He watched over her and waited for her to rise. He swore that the moment that he saw her open her demonic eyes, he would stake her. When she did, he couldn't. Her face was normal and beautiful.
* "Angel?" *
She asked softly. But there was something different about her voice. She had seen the stake in his hands.
* " You're going to stake me?" *
She had asked in a scared voice. Then laughed mercilessly.
* "You can't. You will never be able too." *
She taunted then held out her hand.
* "I'll give you a chance to run with me. Be Angelus. Be evil with me." *
She purred and Angel almost could resist. He was speechless. His love was no a creature of darkness.
* "Fine. But don't think this is over, lover. It will NEVER be over." *
She taunted as she kissed him on the lips then pushed him away and sauntered out. Out of Sunnydale and away from Angel.
It was 6 months ago to the day and Angel had yet to hear from her. He had stayed in Sunnydale, waiting for her to return. And tonight was the night. He could feel her. He had been preparing for this. He could now kill her. It was time.
Part 2
Dawn looked out the window and sighed. She was thinking along the same lines as Angel. Angel was the one that had told her about Buffy. After that she locked herself up in her room for a week.
*Dawn." *
Angel had murmured as he walked into her home.
* "What.? Where's Buffy?" *
Dawn had asked getting to the point.
* "She's gone, Dawnie, she's gone." *
Angel whispered at the pint of breaking again himself. But he couldn't. He had to be strong for her.
* "Where?" *
Dawn said in denial.
* "She got bit. She was turned." *
Angel told her stepping closer to comfort her. Dawn pushed him away and wrapped her arms around herself.
* "No, no! You're lying! Why. Why are you telling me this? She's not dead." *
Dawn had started off in hysterics then her voice was deadly soft. Her eyes wide and wild.
* "Don't do this. Don't put yourself in denial." *
Angel pleaded.
* "Did you stake her?" *
Dawn asked her voice trembling at the thought of her sister being dust.
* " No, no. I couldn't. I'm sorry." *
Angel whispered ashamedly.
* "No. No, no, no, no, no, NO!" *
Dawn screamed as sobs wracked her body.
Angel tried to comfort her but she just hit his chest.
* "No, why? She's stronger than that! She's too strong to let some stupid vampire kill her!" *
Dawn screamed as hot tears ran down her face. Angel wrapped his arms around her, feeling the girls pain.
After what seemed like hours, Dawn had quieted except for quiet ongoing chanting. Her head was on his lap, eyes tear eyes wide open seeing nothing except the world she had fallen into. Angel leaned over slightly to hear what she was saying.
* "Alone, alone, alone. I'm alone. Alone, alone, alone." *
her voice was a hoarse rasp from screaming. Her fists bruised from beating Angel. Angel's splintered heart broke for this girl who had always thought of as his sister.
She shook her head as another memory came to her. It was what Buffy had told her after her mother had died. Buffy had set up an account all for Dawn. Just in case.
* "Dawn, look. This is for you. It's a portion of the money Mom left for us. In case something ever happens to me, I want you to leave Sunnydale. Don't tell anyone the exact location." *
Dawn had been confused.
* "What do you mean 'in case something happens to you'?" *
Dawn had asked. She remembered how heavily Buffy had sighed.
* "Incase a vamp ever gets lucky and turns me. *
Buffy had explained with a sad face. Dawn had never thought about how sad she looked. Maybe she had known this was how she would die. Again. As Dawn looked outside again, she noticed that everything seemed different. The night seemed darker. It was something in the air. And Dawn knew what it meant. Buffy was coming back. Dawn closed her eyes. This couldn't be happening. She didn't want to just leave everyone. She heard a gentle tap at her door.
"Who is it?" Dawn asked.
"Angel." Angel answered.
Dawn left the window and opened her door. Angel's dark soulful eyes looked at her.
"Hey. Come in." Dawn said and went back to where she went back to where she had been sitting.
"How are you?" Angel asked as he always did when she saw him. Everyone was always so careful with her. Sometimes she hated it.
"Its different out tonight." Dawn answered.
"I know." Angel said, sitting next to her.
"Is she back?" Dawn asked.
"I don't know. I think so." Angel answered.
"She told me to leave if she was ever changed. Should I? I don't want too." Dawn asked, as she leaned on Angel. She loved him, but in a brotherly way. As he did her. He out his arm around her.
"I don't know. She will be dangerous. She'll be going after us first." Angel said truthfully.
"Us?" Dawn asked.
"You, Giles, and I. We're the ones who were closet to her when she was alive." Angel said.
"God! I miss her. I hate this. I hate being.scared of her. Waiting for here to make her move. I hate it." Dawn said.
"I know. I know you do. I do too. I think.maybe you should go to LA and stay with Cordelia." Angel suggested. He didn't want her to get hurt. She was a part of Buffy. She was like his sister. He couldn't loose her too.
"Yeah. I guess. I want to see her anyways." Dawn sighed.
"Good. I'll call her and she can probably get you tomorrow morning. But, tonight. Do not leave the house. At all. If you see her.don't let her in and stay away from the windows. Promise me Dawnie." Angel said.
"I promise." Dawn said and gave Angel a hug.
Angel smiled at her and left.
Dawn picked up her phone and called Cordy.
"Hello? Cordelia Chase speaking." Cord answered.
"Cordy? Its Dawn." Dawn said.
"Hey sweetie. What's up?" Cordelia answered.
Dawn had gone to LA after Buffy dies. She couldn't face Sunnydale and still deal without Buffy. Cordelia and Angel had been her family and helped her. Giles too. Willow and Xander had been hurt she turned from them. But, Dawn didn't care. They hadn't just lost a sister.
"Dawnie? You ok?" Cordelia asked.
"Oh. Yeah. Sorry. Just thinking. Angel antes me to come up to LA for awhile." Dawn said.
"Alright. Sure, no problem. Why though?" Cordelia asked.
"Buffy's back." Dawn said.
"Oh. Oh, God. I can come and get you in 2 hours." Cordelia said then.
"Ok, thanks Cord." Dawn said as they hung up.
She started to pack and leave the hell that was her home.
Angel walked around the cemetery wearily. She was near. That was for sure. Angel gave no hint that he knew. He just patrolled and watched out for any demons. There were none. None at all. Angel felt her get closer. He clenched his fists in order to keep him under control.
"You might as well stop walking around mindlessly. There are no more vampires. They've all gone into hiding." A voice called from the shadows. Her voice.
"So you came back." Angel turned toward her.
"Yes. Unfinished business. You know how it goes." She said as she emerged from the shadows. Her hair was shorter and darker. Not brown but not black. It had a faint purple shine in the moons light.
"What do you want?" Angel sighed as he kept himself guarded and away. This wasn't Buffy. Would never be Buffy. Never again.
"Oh, didn't I say? I came to see you. And my friends." Buffy smirked.
Her eyes held a dark glint. Not the usual happy sparkle.
'THIS IS NOT BUFFY. Get it through your head!' Angel thought to himself.
"They are not your friends." Angel said.
"You're right. They're not your friends either. They only tolerate you." Buffy taunted.
"Maybe." Angel shrugged.
He could see Buffy getting mad.
"Come with me, Angel. I miss you. We can ruin the world together. Truly make it hell." Buffy purred, coming closer.
"What makes you think I would ever come with you?" Angel asked.
Buffy ran her hands over his shoulders.
"Because you love me." Angel shoved her into a tombstone and pulled out a stake.
Buffy's eyes widened and she whimpered, "Angel.?"
Angel almost dropped the stake. She was playing him. She stood up and laughed.
"You do. Or else you would have staked me then and there. I know you, Angel. Whether you believe it or not." She said as she blew him a kiss and fled to the shadows.
Angel walked to the mansion and let his frustrations put. Roaring and punching the wall with bloody fists. Angel hated this. He hated seeing her like this. A demon. But it wasn't her. It was Buffy. He had to get that through his head. Not Buffy, not Buffy, not Buffy, not Buffy.
Part 3
Willow was online and searching through different files. Angel said that he needed to find the Soul Restoration Spell. She had a copy on disk but it had been destroyed. She missed Buffy terribly. Everyone had pretty much broken apart after she had dies. Xander had distanced himself from everybody except Cordelia and Dawn. Dawn had turned to Angel and Cordelia for comfort. Tara had left after a few months because Willow was obsessed with Buffy's death. She had no one.
"God, self pity sucks." Willow murmured.
The was a knock at her door. Willow took a cross and hid it as she went to the door. It was Oz.
"Oz!" Willow said in surprise.
"Hey." He nodded as he walked in.
"W-what are you doing here?" Willow asked.
"Trouble's coming." Oz said.
Still not a man of many words.
"I-its good to see you." Willow said. Truthfully.
She had realized that she still loved Oz after Tara left.
"Yeah, you too." Oz said, still avoiding her eyes.
Willow decided to stop and go on with her research. Oz followed her and sat behind her. He had the strong impulse to run his fingers through her hair. He didn't.
"So, uh, what're you researching?" Oz asked.
"The spell for Soul Restoration. For Buffy, just in case." Willow said her fingers rapidly typing.
"Oh." Was all Oz said.
After a few moments, Willow gave a happy squeal.
"Yay me. I found it." Willow smiled at Oz and turned back to the computer, downloading this part into her disk.
Dawn was looking out the picture window in the living room waiting for Cordelia to pull up. Cordelia had become something like her surrogate sister. Like Giles was her surrogate Dad. Dawn hadn't seen or talked to her real Father in ages. Not since before her Mom had dies. God, she missed her Mom so much. She had no real family left. None. But, strangely, it didn't bother her as much as it used too. She had Angel and Cordelia, and Xander, and Willow, and Willow. They were enough family for her. But still, sometimes she wished she had her big sister here and her Mom. Dawn smiled as Cordelia screeched to a stop and started to honk her horn for Dawn. Dawn grabbed her bag and a stake and cross. No way she was going out without them She was not stupid.
"Dawnie, sweetie. How are you?" Cordy asked as she got out and helped put her bags in the trunk of sleek black convertible that Angel had given her.
"Wow, by the looks of it, you packed to stay for months." Cordelia mumbled.
"Yeah, well, there's clothes, shoes, makeup." Dawn said with a smile.
Cordelia smiled brightly.
"No kidding." She agreed.
They got in the car and Cordelia sped off. They passed the 'You are now leaving Sunnydale. We hope you return soon!' sign.
"Why would anyone come here?" Dawn mumbled.
"Buffy and I talked about that once." Cordelia said.
"Really?" Dawn asked.
"Yeah. Have you seen her?" Cordelia asked.
"No." Dawn answered and was thankful she hadn't.
"Angel has. He called while I was driving here and all but demanded me to come and get you." Cordelia said as she drove and pulled onto the interstate.
"He's overprotective." Dawn said.
"You're the sister he never had." Cordelia said.
"Willow said she was going to try to bring Buffy's soul back." Dawn suddenly said.
"What?" Cordelia asked.
"I heard her talking to Angel once. In case something happens, he wants her to do it." Dawn explained.
"Wow." Cordelia said.
"I know, but if they do, Buffy will hate them. She told me she would never want to be like that. She didn't wan to suffer like Angel does." Dawn said, remembering their conversation.
* "Buffy? If you were like Angel, what would you do?" *
Dawn had asked her sister as they were giving themselves pedicures.
* "Like Angel? What do you mean?" *
Buffy had asked, wondering what was going through her sister's mind.
* "If you had a soul like he does." *
Dawn answered, inwardly cursing when she smeared some polish on her toe.
* "I don't know. I just hope it never happens to me." *
Buffy answered her.
* "Why?" *
Dawn asked, genuinely curious.
* "I could never exist like that. I hope I never do. I'm stake myself." *
Buffy answered truthfully.
* "Oh. Can you had me the nail polish remover?" *
Dawn shook her head and looked at Cordelia.
"She told me she would stake herself." Dawn answered.
"Wow." Cordelia said again shaking her head. The rest of the drive pleasant and they didn't mention Buffy again.
Angel patrolled again the following night. He knew she was still there. He could sense her near, but not right there. He saw Spike leaning on a tree smoking his cigarettes.
"Well, well, well Peaches. Still looking for Blondie, huh?" Spike asked.
Angel glared at the peroxide vampire.
"Yes, not that its any of you business. What are you doing?" Angel asked.
"Just waiting for you so I can annoy you." Spike shrugged.
Angel glowered at him.
"Hey, don't get your panties in a twist. I actually came to help you. I don't really fancy Blondie as evil. She's not very fun." Spike smirked.
Angel turned to him.
"You've seen her?" Angel asked.
"Yeah, didn't approach her though. She was bitching out some guy. It was pretty entertaining. Like Jerry Springer without those damn blips." Spike said.
"When?" Angel asked.
"Last night." Spike answered as they walk together.
"Damn." Angel swore.
"Angel." Spike started, "If you can't kill her, I will."
Angel looked up at him with surprise.
"Thank you." Angel said.
"Don't get all mushy, I just don't like the fact that a bloody vamped Vampire Slayer running around town." Spike sighed.
"Well, well, well. Isn't this interesting? Grand-Sire and his Childe." A voice purred from the shadows.
Buffy stepped out. Her eyes glinting dangerously and her hair shining the shimmering black/purple color.
"God damn, Blondie. Going all out with this. We get it. You're evil." Spike rolled his eyes taking a drag on his cigarette.
"Shut up. All you are is a mere puppy. Poor little puppy can't play. He got neutered." Buffy pouted mockingly.
Spike glowered but said nothing.
Angel kept quiet chanting to himself that this was not Buffy.
"Oh, I see you're geared up for a fight. Sorry, lover. But tonight is not the night. Soon, I promise." Buffy said tauntingly and faded into the shadows.
"God, are you weak or what?" Spike laughed.
"Shut up." Angel growled.
"You can't even talk when Blondie's 'round." Spike found this terribly funny until Angel grabbed him around the throat and slammed him up against a mausoleum wall.
"Hold you damn horses you bloody Poof!" Spike gurgled.
Angel let him fall to the ground.
"I'm on you side, you do now that? Let her pick the fight." Spike advised.
Angel slammed his fist into the wall in fury.
"She gets it from you, She had first hand experience with Angelus and now she basically copying you." Spike went on.
"Lets go." Angel said turning and walking. Spike caught up with him.
"Where we going?" he asked.
"To Willow's. I want to see if she found the curse yet." Angel said.
"You're cursing her?" Spike asked incredulously.
"Yes. I need a plan B. If she beats me, and it's a possibility, I can't have her running around." Angel said.
"Huh. Point taken. But she won't like it." Spike said.
"I know. I don't either. But it might be our only hope." Angel sighed.
"Only hope my ass." A voice whispered to herself It was Buffy, she had been standing in the shadows watching the two vampires.
"Hear that, boys? If we don't win, I have to be tied down to a soul. Can't let that happen, can we?" Buffy asked her companions.
They were two old vampires. Big, strong, powerful enough to be master vampires.
"What do you want us to do, mistress?" one growled.
"I want you two to get ready, my dears." Buffy said wickedly.
"For what?" One asked.
"For the end." Buffy purred as they walked in the direction of the hellmouth.
Part 4
Angel knocked on Willow's door with Spike at his side grumbling with annoyance.
"Angel, hi!" Willow said excitedly ushering them in.
"I found it! I hacked into the Romany files. Can you believe they just keep it laying around their computers? But I found it there. It s the same curse Ms. Calendar had. When do you want me to perform it?" Willow asked in a rush.
Angel smiled a little at her excitement.
"Love, have you been drinking coffee again?" Spike inquired raising an eyebrow.
Willow looked like a deer caught in headlights.
"Only a little, but there's some much going on and with Buffy coming back. And Dawn leaving and-" Willow was cut off and Oz clamped a hand over her mouth.
"Oz." Angel said I surprise in seeing the werewolf.
"Hey." Oz nodded shaking the hand Angel had offered.
"What are you doing here? Not to be rude." Angel asked.
"Troubles coming. Thought help would be needed." Oz shrugged.
"Needed and appreciated." Angel said.
Willow had pried Oz's hand off her mouth and said, "I called Giles and he's coming over. He should be here any moment." Willow said looking at the clock.
Angel tensed a little. Everyone had to be a little more careful with Vampire Buffy running.
"Have you seen Buffy?" Willow asked, then wrinkled her nose, "Tonight I mean."
"Yes. We both did." Spike answered for Angel.
"I have a feeling she's planning something." Angel said.
"She most likely is." A new voice said. Everyone tuned and saw Giles taking off his coat.
"What makes you say that?" Angel asked.
"Well, think about it. She comes back here after months of wreaking around the world." Giles as he paced around, putting down the books he had brought.
"Around the world?" Willow squeaked.
"Yes, in her short time, she has gotten around to at least seven continents and possible more than twenty states.
I believe if you look it up on that dreadful computer you will find reports on her." Giles said.
Willow was already at the computer typing away and going into government files.
"How can they makes reports about her if they can't identify her?" Spike asked.
"They don't need too. A picture is all they need." Giles said.
"I found one. Here, three months ago in Germany. It's kind of fuzzy but its her." Willow said as she zoomed in on the picture and moved to let everyone see.
"Bloody hell." Spike muttered.
It was Buffy with a dagger in her had preparing to bring it down. She had a maniacal smile on her face.
The room was quiet for some minutes until a voice chimed in.
"Wow, great picture, I love the way the flames made my hair shine."
Everyone turned and looked. It was Buffy. Standing in the doorway, or rather leaning on it a lazy smile on her face. Then a look of mock hurt crossed her features.
"What? A Scooby meeting and no one invited me? That's not very nice seeing as I'm the topic." Buffy pouted.
"Buffy." Willow gasped putting her hand to her mouth.
"What's wrong, Will? Shocked at seeing I didn't go through with your plan?" Buffy asked, her eyes hard.
"P-plan?" Willow stammered.
"Y-y-yes." Buffy mocked and rolled her eyes, "You know the one. Come on, tell me you don't remember? The one where Buffy gets a normal life. Got to get the grades and the farm boy all American boyfriend from Iowa. You remember now?" Buffy asked, twirling a small dagger in her hands.
"Oh, and I heard babies talking about my soul. Hmm, sounds kind of overrated. I mean, what's so great about suffering when you can do something so fun with a free mind? Don't you agree? Angel? Spike?" Buffy asked.
"No." Angel answered.
"Can't say so, Slayer." Spike shrugged.
Buffy shrugged carelessly.
"Oh well. I just came for a quick hello. Time to visit my little sissy." Buffy said as she left.
"Where is the little bit? She's not at home, is she?" Spike asked, he was overprotective of Dawn.
"She's not in Sunnydale, don't worry." Giles said.
Oz had been quiet throughout the whole thing. He was looking out the window when he said, "Something's going to happen.
Dawn and Cordelia were watching some chick flick and doing their nails.
"I've missed this." Dawn said taking a bit of pizza.
"Oh, me too." Cordelia said.
"Buffy and I used to do this a lot." Dawn said.
"Yeah me too, not with Buffy so much, but with my other girlfriends." Cordelia said.
"I wonder how everyone's doing back home?" Dawn wondered aloud.
"Probably fine. I mean as fine as they can be with the Slayer being a vampire." Cordelia shrugged.
Dawn smiled despite what was said. Sometimes Cordy forgot a little thing called tact.
"Yeah. I wonder what Angel's going to do." Dawn said.
"Hard to say, sweetie, he'll have a hard time killing her because, well, it's Buffy. And he doesn't really want to curse her because it's no way to exist." Cordelia said.
Just then Cordy's phone rang.
"Hello, Cordelia Chase speaking." Cordelia answered as she put them on speaker phone.
"Cord? Its Angel." Angel said.
"Hey, what's up?" Cordelia asked.
"I need you to keep Dawn inside. Buffy was just over here and she wanted to see Dawn. She doesn't know she's not in Sunnydale but will soon." Angel answered.
"Oh. Well, what do you want me to do?" Cordelia asked.
"Here's Willow, she'll tell you what to do." Angel said handing the phone over to Willow.
"Ok, Cord, Listen. I'm sending you the invitation revocation spell via email. Angel might be in danger with his soul. So, I need you to perform the spell for him, alright? You need to do this ASAP. And I am putting a protection spell over you and Dawn. So if you feel any tingling or anything, it's the spell." Willow said.
"Alright. I'll do the spell and call you back, alright?" Cordelia asked.
"Yeah, I just sent it. Bye." Willow said and they hung up.
Cordelia signed on and checked her email there was Willow's spell. Cordelia opened it and told Dawn to get the ingredients. Together they walked through the apartment and chanted.
".his verbes, consensus rescisssus est." Cordelia said.
Then Dawn followed with, "By these words, consent repealed."
Buffy stood over the ruins of the high school and watched as the warlocks chanted.
"The gate is dark. The darkness breathes. Hear us, Dark Lord. Take the pure and release the tainted. Give her the Power, let your Dark One. Let her be the one to release you and send the world into hell."
Buffy walked right in front of them and stopped them.
"Is there some sort of point to this? Because I am on a tight schedule." Buffy said her eyes flashing gold.
"Yes, mistress. We need to make an offering to the dark Lord to let him open the Hellmouth." One of her minions said.
"Offering? Why can't we just pry it open, its been done." Buffy said.
Another minion was about to answer when the ground shook forcefully. Buffy stumbled a smiled wickedly.
"Well, gentleman. Seems I was wrong. It's worked. Thank you for helping me." Buffy said then snapped their necks relishing the feel of their lives ending in her hands.
Buffy kicked their bodies into the shadows and went to go make preparations for the following night.
Part 5
Willow, Oz, and Giles crowded into the doorway as the ground shook.
"Earthquake" Willow said quietly.
"She's going to open the hellmouth." Giles said looking out the window.
"How do you know?" Oz asked helping a shaky Willow back to her seat.
"Think of how many times she's averted it happening. She's knows how to do it and she knows what will stop it." Giles said, grabbing the Codex from the pile of books he had. He started to flip through the pages looking for some prophecy. There! He found it.
"Listen. 'The warrior of good falls into the force of a demon. She who know about the mouth of hell will open its gates and send the mortal world into the hands of The Dark Lord.'" Giles read.
"So, in other words, Buffy opens the hellmouth and sends the world into hell." Oz asked.
"Yes, precisely." Giles said.
"How do we stop her?" Willow asked.
"We don't. Angel does."
Part 6
Angel tossed and turned during the day. He dreamed of Buffy. Her beautiful tanned face, her golden silken hair. Her emerald hazel eyes. The Buffy he knew. Angel groggily opened his eyes, hearing a sound. Footsteps. Angel sat up and saw Buffy. It was her. Sleep still held him in its hold so he could dismiss her blackened hair and thought it was her. She wore a white flowered sundress, and it looked so much like her.
"Buffy? Is it you?" He mumbled.
"Yes, its me. Really." She said her eyes wide and innocent.
She walked into his arms and nuzzled his chest.
"Buffy. Buffy, Oh God, Buffy." Angel murmured holding her close.
"Shhh. Its ok. I'm here." She purred and her eyes glinted wickedly, though he did not see it.
"I thought I lost you." Angel said, his mind felt fuzzy as if full of cotton.
"You'll never lose me, we'll be together for eternity." She said, pulling down his sweatpants.
Through the fog in Angel's mind, he realized something wasn't right.
"Buffy.?" Angel murmured as she kissed a trail down his chest.
"Shhh. Just let me take care of everything, my dear Angelus. Together we'll make the heavens bleed." Buffy murmured.
Angel's mind cleared up enough to see that this wasn't a dream and this wasn't Buffy. Damn it1 It was her demon. Angel didn't let on that he knew, he just let her continue with trying to seduce him while he tried to find a way to confine her. He saw the chaines on the wall and formed a plan.
"Buffy, my Buffy." He murmured, and pulled her up to kiss him. He kissed her roughly and coldly, his face vamping out and pulled her away, tearing at her once delicate lips.
"You think I am that stupid? Tsk, you said you learned from me. Obviously not." Angel growled pulling her and pushing her roughly against the wall.
She laughed wickedly and threw her head back, enjoying this.
"You may not be Angelus, but this is almost as good!" She said, licking the blood off her lip.
Angel pulled her up for a kiss and locked the chain on her wrist she pushed him away with amazing force. Her face was etched with fury at being trapped.
"Ahhh!" She roared as her face changed.
Angel rubbed his eyes and the rest of the haziness left him.
"Spoilsport." Buffy pouted, "Come on. Lets play."
Angel shook his head and went into another room, dialing the phone. This was going to be hard. Having Buffy here, taunting him, but it wasn't really her. Or was it? Wasn't he the one who said that a vampire was what showed who you really where?
* "Just remember, a vampire's personality has nothing do to with the person it was" Buffy had said to Willow after the had met her vampire self.
"Well, actually-" Angel had started to say, but Buffy glared at him, "That's a good point." He said to try and cover up what he was about to say.
What Buffy had never gotten was that a vampire may have not had a soul, but it took all the bad things inside of the person it once was and made it true. When Angel was human long ago, he was a man-whore. Sleeping with everyone and anyone who had breasts. Maybe Buffy really was a violent person deep inside. She had always had this dark side to her when she was Slaying. Angel had seen it firsthand. As did Faith. But Faith had tried to ring it out while Angel had struggled to help her keep it in.
"She died thinking of you!" Buffy yelled from the other room.
This made Angel put the phone down and walk slowly toward her.
"What did you say?" He asked in a low voice.
"She died thinking of you. You didn't think she was gone before that vamp bit her did you?" Buffy asked.
Angel didn't answer just waited for her to go on.
"No, she was just trapped in her own mind. She thought, 'What about Angel?'" Buffy said.
Angel narrowed his eyes at her.
"You're lying." He growled. Angel had prayed that she had been gone before the vampire had bitten her. He couldn't bare to think of her trapped in her body while getting bit, not able to fight back.
"No. Why would I? What would I have to gain by telling you falsities? Just seeing the agonizing look on your face just telling the truth is prize enough for me>" Buffy smirked.
Her white, sharp teeth gleamed in the place light.
"She blamed you too. For not saving you. You got her mad and distracted. She dies hating you." Buffy said, lying this time.
"Stop it!" Angel growled, running a hand through his hair.
Buffy beamed at making him lose it. If she couldn't do it by force, she'd do it mentally.
Angel closed her eyes sorrowfully. She was telling the truth. Angel made Buffy distracted by arguing with her that night. He didn't save her. Her had gotten captured and didn't try hard enough to help her. He killed her, if not by physically, emotionally, then.
* "Angel! I need help!" *
He remembered her yelling to him to help her. Angel sunk to his knees, remembering that night.
He could she her fighting and throwing out sarcastic remarks left and right. He saw as the demons approach her and saw her retreating into her own mind. He saw the vampires bit her and turn her. He could free the dead weight of her body in his arms. Feel her still warm blood seeping from various wounds and her neck.
Angel was so lost in the gruesome memory, he didn't see Buffy yanking at the chain. It was bending. Of course this couldn't hold her. Was Angel really that stupid? Buffy yanked hard and it came loosed, three rings popping out and falling to the floor. Angel snapped out of it and lunged at her, knowing that he couldn't let her loose again. Buffy turned and whipped the part of the chain that was still locked on her wrist. The chain smacked Angel cheek with powerful force, tearing the skin. Angel was momentarily stunned, clutching his cheek. This was all Buffy needed. She shoved him away and he hit the wall.
"Sorry Lover. Places to go. People to kill. Rituals to start. Don't worry, I'll see you again. Soon." Buffy said softly and blew him a kiss then ran out. The sun was setting, so she grabbed a blanket on the way. Angel sat against the wall, stunned. How was he going to beat her?
Part 7
Angel had gone to Willow's after sundown. Giles had found the ritual Buffy was going to perform. It was the to open the hellmouth. No big surprise. She was the one who made the earthquake happen. The hellmouth would open after midnight. Around one or two. No exact time. Xander had called and said Faith was coming to help. She had been let out of jail on good behavior a few months before. He said Dawn was safe with Cordelia and he was going to see them.
"Do you think Faith will be able to help?" Willow asked.
"Yes, Buffy with have many vampires there, I believe to protect her and the ritual. We need as mnay people as possible.
"I can help." Oz said suddenly.
"How?" Willow asked.
"I can let the wolf out halfway and help fight." Oz said.
Angel nodded.
Spike was also helping. He was picking Faith up from the bus station.
"What about the spell?" Willow asked.
"The spell won't work unless you do it right." A voice said.
A man was in the room. Angel knew who he was.
"Whistler." Angel stated.
"Yeah, finally cleaned up your sewer act, huh?" Whistler said chuckling.
"What do you mean 'do the spell right'?" Willow asked.
"You gotta do it at the right time. When she is least expecting it. She knows your going to do it so she has taken precautions ands got magic protecting her. She's not stupid. And being around you happy bunch for so long has given her the knowledge she needs" Whistler said walking around the room looking at random things.
"When will we know when the time is right?" Giles asked.
"You won't." Whistler said, "She will." He said pointing at Willow.
"I don't get it. Are we going to be able to stop her?" Angel asked.
"That depends on which way you go about this" Whistler said.
"You make no bloody sense! Just get on with it!" Giles said.
"No one understands me, its my curse. But I will try to explain it. You're girl is going to send the world to hell unless Angel and your friends stop her. You can curse her at the right time. Only the witch will know." Whistler explained.
Spike came into the house with Faith behind him.
"We passed by that old school. Something's going down. And fast." Faith said.
"C'mon Peaches, lets move." Spike said.
He pulled Angel out and Oz followed him. Willow chased after him and pulled him by the hand. She kissed him and whispered, "Be careful. I love you."
Angel, Spike, Faith, and Oz walked silently to the ruins of the High School. Faith had gotten weapons for everyone. They hid in the burnt shadows and watched as Buffy walked around, barking out orders. She stood at the edge of the hellmouth and watched as steam rose from it.
"You stay here. I'll distract her and I was you to take out the vamps." Angel said as he walked right out and toward Buffy, full game face on.
"Angel! Darling, I knew you'd come. I knew you couldn't resist." Buffy smirked.
"You have no idea." Angel smiled and pulled her to him, kissing her roughly.
"Are you ready to join the fun?" She whispered in his ear.
"Why do you think I came?" Angel whispered back.
Buffy laughed and felt Angel pick her up.only to be smashed into the ground.
"Angel!" Buffy gasped, her face contorting in anger.
"You fool." She gritted out, jumping back up and going into a fighter stance.
"Well, maybe so, but I'm not the one going to die here." Angel said.
"Going to die? You think you can kill me?" Buffy asked.
"I know it." Angel answered.
"You couldn't the last time we met. You can't get rid of the image of your Golden Girl Buffy. You still can't. You never will, and that's why you can't kill me." Buffy said tossing her hair over her shoulder.
Angel's demon roared within him. It knew that this was not Buffy and she should be killed for letting this demon where her face. Angel let his demon take partial control. The demon roared after Buffy and they fought in perfect sync. Blocking each other's move and ducking out of the way. Angel cursed himself for training with her.
"There's no way you can beat me. I know you every move." Buffy said. They had stopped fighting and were no circling each other. Angel was still, then jutted him leg out. Buffy blocked him and tried to kick to his midsection. Angel grabbed her foot and she spun, falling to the floor. Angel stood over her.
"And you forgot. I know your every move too." Angel growled.
Buffy looked up at him with wide eyes. Angel gripped the stake and prepared to bring it down. Buffy swiped her floor underneath his and he fell to the ground with a thud. Buffy scrambled up and searched for a weapon. She ran in between the battles raging between her minions and the others. Angel took off after her.
"A game of cat and mouse, eh? My favorite." Angel growled.
Buffy fond a pole somewhat bent. She broke it off and swung it at Angel. It hit the side of his head and he was knocked to the ground. The ground rumbled with the force of another earthquake and everyone stumbled. Buffy was watching the hellmouth steam and spurt. Angel got up quietly and spun her around. Her punched her jaw with force. He heard something crack..
"Ah!" Buffy yelped and kicked him away. Angel searched for the stake but it was long gone.
Willow looked up and went rigid for a moment. There was something in the air. It was time.
"Giles, start chanting." Willow ordered.
"Quod perditum est, in venietur."
Willow threw the rocks down onto the table.
"Not dead nor not of the living. Spirits of the interregnum I call. Let her know the pain of humanity, Gods-reach your wizened hands to me."
Part 8
The battles raged on. Oz was in half werewolf mode. He growled and snarled, swiping and pouncing on the vampires. He decapitated one and jumped on another.
"Bloody hell!" Spike yelled as he fought the demons. He was having a hell of a good time. Power surged through him. He would glance up at Buffy and Angel every so often and chuckle, then go back to fighting.
"Traitor." One of the demons faced him.
"What can I say? You can't beat 'em, join 'em." Spike growled and fought the demon.
Faith was having the time of her life. Whooping and hollering and throwing out remarks at the vampires. She turned and smirked at Spike. He was sexy..
Buffy threw her head back laughing when Angel trapped her between himself and a burnt wall.
"Is that sexual frustration you're working off?" She taunted and nicked his neck with her fangs.
"Hell yeah. Feels good too." Angel said, pushing her harder.
Buffy ran her hands down his chest and tried to go lower and Angel threw her down.
"Oh, I love it when you get rough." Buffy laughed.
He had found his stake and prepared to stake her when her faced morphed back to the human face her once loved so much.
"Angel, don't hurt me." She whimpered.
This made Angel go crazy.
"Stop using her face!" He said throwing her into the wall hard with new power.
"Angel." She whimpered.
"Stop using her voice! Stop!" He screamed in a crazed rage.
Buffy was getting worried, ok, she hadn't wanted THIS reaction from him.
"Gods bind her. Cast her heart from the evil realm. I call on you, Gods. Do not ignore the supplication. Let this orb be the vessel to carry her soul to her! It is written in my people right to wield! Let it be so! Let it be so! Now! NOW!"
Angel was nuts. He threw Buffy and wailed on her like a rag doll. She managed to throw him off her. She panted as the pain came over her. He had hurt her. Suddenly, she couldn't breathe. There was pain. Incredible horrible pain ripping through her. Buffy fell to her knees, gasping and writhing at the tremendous pain the coursed through her veins. A raging fire coursed through her entire being. Something was happening. Buffy felt something enter her. Her mind went blank and fuzzy. Her eyes were wide open but she saw nothing except the haziness in her mind. She then let out the horrible scream. And fell to the ground writhing as the pain slowly left.
Angel was sitting stunned as he watched Buffy. She started to choke and pant. He saw a bright light enter her eyes. A fog of magic erupted out of her as she screamed. All the demons and vampires became dust. Buffy fell to the ground. Angel hurried to her side as the others approached slowly.
"Buffy?" Angel asked softly.
She turned toward him and looked at him.
"Angel? What are you doing here?" She asked not moving.
"Buffy. Buffy." Angel said not quite grasping the concept that she was herself.
"Yeah. Are you alright?" She asked lifting a hand to her cheek.
Angel realized that she didn't remember all the had happened. She would soon. Very soon.
"Buffy? Oh God.." He said taking her into his arms and hugging her tightly.
"Angel? What's wrong with y-" Buffy stopped and let out a whimper.
Everything was coming back to her. The fires, the men, the women, the children. She remembered everything and everyone. She started to pant as she felt herself trapped within the nameless swarm of people.
'You're fault. You're fault. You're fault.' They chanted closing in on her.
Buffy clawed out of whoever was holding her. They resisted and held her tighter.
"Let me go!" She screamed in pure agony.
She clawed and kicked and bit until she was away. She started to run. Blindly. It didn't matter where as long as she got away from everything. This had to be a dream. It had to be.
"Buffy!" Someone was calling out after her. She didn't slow. She kept running hit tears blurring her vision until she fell. Painfully. But she deserved he pain. She deserved torture and more for everything she had done. Whoever had been calling her caught up to her and gathered her into his arms. Angel.. She realized smelling in his scent.
"Angel. I-I. The people." She cried.
"I know, I know love. It'll be alright." Angel murmured knowing it wouldn't.
"No it won't. The things I've done." Buffy whimpered.
Angel just held her. As she cried knowing that this wouldn't be the last time. It would never be over. She would always be tortured just as he was. But they had each other now. And for the moment, that was all that mattered.
