Angel walked into the hotel slowly. He moved not only with tiredness, but sadness. It had only been days since he was informed Buffy had died. Angel climbed the stairs up to his room. He had been ignoring everything and anyone. Angel walked to his bed and sat. His picture of Buffy lay on his bed. It had been there since she had died. He looked at it constantly. He was so afraid he'd lose the memory of her face. Her beautiful face. Angel noticed that his phone was blinking with one message. He hadn't noticed it before. But then. He hadn't noticed much of anything the last few days. Angel pressed the button and there was nothing but static for a moment. Then a voice came on. Her voice.

"A-Angel? If you're there, pick up."

There was a pause.

"Ok, I'm guessing you're not. There's.stuff happening here. Bad stuff. She took Dawn. Glory took Dawn. I don't know what to do. Giles says I might have to kill her, but I can't. I can't kill my sister. I won't. If Glory opens the portal, only Dawn's blood can close it. But.Dawn's blood is my blood. I can't kill Dawn. I called you to ask for help.but I don't need it. Not now. I know what I have to do. I'm sorry. I'm sorry Angel. I can't go through this anymore. I can't keep killing those I love. I won't. God. I love you. If you hear from me after this, forget this message. If you don't. Then I'm gone. Don't blame yourself. Please, don't blame yourself. I love you. Don't ever forget that."

There was someone talking in the background.

"I have to go. Its time. Dun dun du-uuun."

Buffy tried to joke and laugh it off but it came out more like a strangled sob. Angel could hear the fear and determination in her voice. When she spoke again, her voice was breaking and teary.

"I love you so much. I'm glad you aren't here to see what's going to happen. Please make sure Dawn doesn't do anything like try and bring me back. Don't miss me too much, stealth guy. Goodb-"

She started to say, but stopped.

"I can't say it, so I won't. I'll never say it to you."

Another pause.

"I love you. So much."

She stayed on the line for a few moments. Angel knew because he could hear her breathing. Someone called her name.

"We'll see each other again, I promise."

She whispered so softly Angel could barely hear it. Someone called her again, more urgently and she hung up then. She had called him before she died. Was going to ask his help. He would have come. He would have given anything to be there with her and stop her from jumping. But he couldn't. Because he was saving his friends. He couldn't save her. But she was in Heaven now. He was sure of it.

Angel played her message again and again. Listening to her melodic voice. It didn't matter that she just rambled on and on. This was the last part of her he had.

Her voice.
