I looked up from my desk, jumping when I saw her.

Crap.

There was Buffy, standing in the door, clad in a pair of Fuzzy Purple Pajamas covered in rainbows.

I raised an eyebrow. "Nice Look."

She shrugged. "I left in a hurry."

"So I guessed. So what is it this time? Vampires? Demons? World in Crisis?"

"Buffy in crisis." She replied. "I came to a realization. I'm going back to doing things *my* way."

I smiled. Finally. The Buffy I liked was back. The strong, independent one.

The one who didn't take orders.

The one who didn't just meekly accept what happened to her.

The one who dated whoever the hell she wanted to.

"He's downstairs." I grinned.

She started for the elevator, but stopped when the sounds of it being activated filled the room.

She smiled, running a hand through her hair.

Angel stepped out a moment later, dressed all in black.

I could hear Buffy's breath as it caught in her throat.

I had to admit, he was pretty hot for a dead guy.

She stalked over to him, and I watched with interest as she pushed him against the wall, hand on his chest, daring him to argue.

He didn't.

Smart boy.

I'd seen the dangerous glint in Buffy's eye before.

Lot's of times.

Whenever it appeared, she *always* got what she wanted.

By whatever means possible.

"You and I are gonna have a little talk, Angel." She said, smiling sweetly.

He nodded quickly.

"I can't take this anymore." She said, staring deeply into his eyes.

They still had that old connection. I could feel the room crackling with electricity as they made eye contact.

"You're being stupid, Angel." She glared at him. "I don't *want* a normal life with some sweaty, noisy, Iowa Boy!!!!"

He raised an eyebrow. I hadn't given him any details about Buffy's boyfriend.

Mainly because he didn't need to know.

Also because it would be a lot easier for him to track the guy down and eviscerate him.

I rolled my eyes.

Eviscerate? I'd been hanging out with these people too long.

"I don't love him, Angel, and I never will. If I hadn't met you, it could be different. But I know who my soulmate is, Angel, and I'm not giving him up."

A small smile flickered onto his lips.

I was glad. If these two, who loved each other above all else, couldn't get it together, then who really could?

"I love you, Angel. And if you choose not to be with me now you are sentencing me to a life alone."

She stepped back, taking her hand of his chest and wrapping them around herself.

She didn't *need* Angel.

I knew that, she knew that, he knew that.

She was strong, and she could live without him.

But she didn't want to, and shouldn't have to.

Angel stepped away from the wall, enfolding her in his arms, hugging her tightly.

"If that's what you really want." He whispered.

She lifted her eyes, and the two gazed lovingly at each other.

Suddenly, I gave a squeal of delight.

I clamped my mouth shut, embarrassed, but they didn't notice, too wrapped up in each other to care.

He lifted her chin, kissing her softly on the lips.

"Uh, I'm out of here." I said after a moment, though in the back of my mind I knew I should probably stay and make sure things didn't get too... heated.

They could take care of themselves.

"Bye Cordy..." Buffy murmured, not taking her eyes off Angel.

I smiled fondly at the couple.

Together.

In love.

I picked up my purse, and took off, going in search of Doyle.

The End
