The scene seemed surreal to him. There she was, dancing slowly in the low light of the Bronze. The edges of his vision were slightly hazy but the moment her beautiful hazel eyes connected with his the whole world seemed to dissolve, and all that was left was them. He loved losing himself in her eyes, in her embrace, and more so in her soul. It was a feeling he had always ached for, but now he didn't have to. All he had to do was walk up to her and be wrapped her in essence.
She smiled at him and took slow, aching steps toward him. When she was less than two feet away from him, he reached out and crushed her to him. She sighed and relaxed into his warm embrace. Her cheek was over his heart, and she smiled as she felt it thumping under the smooth planes of her face. They stood, but slowly the pounding beat of music drove them into a languid sway, which became a sensual dance and they savored each others company.
All she could hear was his heartbeat, his slow and steady breath on the top of her head where his chin was resting. She vaguely registered the envious stares of other women and me who saw their love before their eyes. She just sank into his warm embrace and enjoyed the simple fact that he was with her, and her world could temporarily be at peace. Hectic things could come later, now she would savor this perfect moment in the arms of her life's only love.
Slowly the song faded away, and they stood still, standing, never wanting to leave the others embrace. Faintly Buffy's love swarmed mind recognized Willow's soft voice, speaking to Tara.
"I'm glad she's happy, she deserves it..." Willow's voice faded away as Angel's arms tightened around her.
"Hello." He said softly, in her ear. She smiled, and her eyes closed, her head still over his heart.
"Hello." She purred in return, she looked into his eyes suddenly and no more words were needed. Some say that eyes are the window to the souls, and in one glance their souls communicated, and expressed their love for the other. She basked in his gaze, completely content for this moment of peace. She loved these simple moments, where they could just enjoy each other's company and be happy.
"We should go home soon..." Angel said slowly, still swaying slightly, "Your mother will..." She silenced him with her fingers over his warm lips. She marveled at how warm his skin could be, and thanked the Powers That Be for the thousandth time for granting them this wonderful gift. Their other gifts were waiting for him at her mother's house, but, she thought, they would survive five more minutes.
"Just a little longer." She murmured, still not willing to leave his embrace just yet. And so they danced on, oblivious to the world with their love.

It had taken him years but he had finally trained hard enough to match the strength of some demons and vampires. Of course it always helped when you had a Slayer by your side.
"Duck!" He yelled, and she did, just barely missing the blow the stupid vampire had shot at her. He kicked his own opponent in the stomach, hard, and brought his stake down on its exposed back. It turned to dust.
Angel glanced at Buffy who was staring at him, dust swirling at her own feet.
"What?" He asked, catching the predatory gleam in her eyes. He loved the simple moments they had, even if it meant he was a liablity to her, he still loved his life.
"I still think you look sexy when you fight..." She said softly, expressing her thoughts honestly and without hindrance, "Even if you aren't as strong as before... You fight harder now."
"I have to," He said, walking up to her and taking her into his arms as they had been before they had been interrupted by two vampires out for a good time, "Otherwise I might get killed."
"Never going to happen." She murmured and ended the conversation with a kiss.

"Mommy!" Her oldest, Cera Marie, squealed. She leaped up from her spot on the floor and ran into her mother's welcome embrace.
"Hi Honey! Were you good for Grandma?" Buffy asked her little one. Cera nodded with wide innocent eyes. Her dark brown hair was short and separated into two little braids, like pigtails. Her big hazel eyes stared at her mother and Buffy couldn't help but smile.
"I made a picture for you, Mommy!" She yelled happily and held up a cute but messy drawing of a house with purple flowers and a lot of green grass.
Buffy laughed, took the picture, and placed a single finger over her lips, "Shh, What if Allen's sleeping?" The boy in question toddled up on little legs and pulled on his mother's skirt, effectively grabbing her attention. "There you are!" Buffy said softly, and watched as Angel picked up the little boy. Allen smiled and closed his eyes. Angel cradle him to his chest and smiled as he cuddled up and promptly fell asleep.
Buffy stared at them, and once again thought to herself at how lucky she was to have them. They were her life, her husband, her daughter, and her son. Allen's light brown hair and golden skin was a sharp contrast to Angel's black jacket and the still pale skin of his neck. It had been four years since he was human and Angel was still working on getting a tan.
"Thanks for letting them come over," Joyce Summers said happily, seeing that the couple was back from their 'Night of Freedom.' "They're so cute!" She was happy for her daughter, and strangely she was just as happy that she was a grandmother, she had the two most precious grandchildren.
"Oh Mom," Buffy said with a soft smile, "Thanks for taking care of them."
"It's not a problem," Joyce said, looking from Angel who had little Allen Doyle, named after the 'Uncle' he had never met, and to Buffy, who had Cera Marie in her arms now. "Come by soon, okay." She kissed each child on the cheek, "Goodnight guys."

Angel slowly lowered the sleeping boy into his crib, hoping that he would not disturb the two year olds sleep. Cera had already been tucked in and read to, the proud three year old had brushed her own teeth that night and now slept peacefully in her own room.
He smiled as he felt two small hands wrap around his waist and he turned to embrace his wife.
"They asleep?" Buffy asked quietly, staring at her precious son.
"Yeah, now it's our turn." They walked to their own bed to together, still wrapped in each other's arms.
"I love you." She whispered, snuggling up to him.
"I love you too." He echoed, and closed his eyes.

"Angel" A voice called out to him in his sleep, "Angel wake up!" The voice was impatient and frustrated and after a moment he realized it was not Buffy's.
"Cordelia?" Angel asked groggily, still unaware that he had been dreaming. He looked around and realized that his lover wasn't next to him, he frowned in disappointment.
"Must have been some dream." Cordelia said smugly, her arms crossed over her chest and she stood by the end of her couch. "You had this little smile on your face..." She trailed off, relieved that he wasn't having a nightmare. 'At least his dreams are pleasant,' She thought, 'His life can be hell enough.'
"Yeah..." He said softly, still thinking back at how light and joyful he had felt in that dreamscape, "It was."

Buffy awoke almost immediately after she had fallen asleep. She groped in the darkness and smiled when she found a warm body next to hers. Her smile soon dropped to a frown when she realized it was not her Angel, but someone else. His name escaped her for a minute until he called her name.
"Buffy," Riley said, pulling her closer. Buffy tensed but eventually relaxed in his embrace.
'It isn't the same.' She thought, 'It'll never be the same.' She stared into the night and patiently waited for Riley to fall asleep. 'It was so real, but it's impossible... Angel will never be human... I'll never be that happy.' She fell asleep, one man and two children still on her mind.

'Someday' Doyle thought from the heavens, watching down on one of the best friends he had ever had and his lover. 'Someday you'll be that happy.'
