Buffy couldn't believe it. She had survived the End of Days. She had lived through a lot of Apocalyptic fights, but the End of Days was predicted in detail. She was supposed to die, and not come back. When she was fighting, she had begun to lose. Just as she was about to embrace death, something moved into her, a powerful, loving thing. She knew what it was, but she couldn't believe it.
With this extra power, she easily saved herself and her friends, including Riley. As soon as the fighting was finished, the spirit went back to the body that housed it. Buffy said a silent thank you, and returned to her friends.

Angel felt his spirit leaving his body far behind. He knew he was going to help Buffy fight, help save her life. Even though the Oracles were dead, the promise they made when Angel gave up his humanity on that fateful Thanksgiving. He knew that Buffy could feel him helping her. Once all the fighting was done, he was back in his own body. There was something that was bothering him, though. His heart was beating. He left the office hastily and ran through the sewers towards the Post Office.
Angel quickly recited the chant to open the portal to the Oracles. He stepped in with his gift, an old Egyptian artifact, at the ready. He gave the artifact to the two Oracles, and asked them what was happening to him. The Oracles replied,"You have fulfilled your destiny, Warrior. You have read the prophecy about the souled vampire, have you not?" Angel nodded and said,"But I haven't fulfilled it." "You have, Warrior. Where in the prophecy does it say when you started to live it out? You have been fulfilling the prophecy for years now, you and your soulmate." Angel was awestruck. "Do you mean that Buffy and I are soulmates? That she is part of the prophecy, too?" The Oracles looked pleased and replied,"You are two parts of the same soul, you can be happy only when you're with each other. You also fight together, no matter where you are. You have fulfilled you destiny, Angel. You have been rewarded, but, as a favor to Doyle, who is a very persuasive speaker, you may still retain your vampiric strength and reflexes. Now go to her Angel, help her fight, make her happy. You both deserve it."
With that he left, heading to Sunnydale, to see his lover.

Buffy was crying, deep, heart-wrenching sobs that had come to her every night since she had felt Angel help her in battle, like so many times before. God, how she missed him. That night, she came to a realization. She could not go another night without him. She would go to him tomorrow evening, and break up with Riley tomorrow morning. She was feeling better already. In fact, she fell into a dreamless sleep, the first since Graduation.
The next morning, Riley had set up a picnic brunch. They were eating when Buffy and Riley said in unison, "I have something to tell you." Buffy let Riley go first, he said,"Buffy I love you so much. Will you marry me?" Buffy was amazed; the only thing she could say was, "Oh, Riley, I love..." She looked up and saw something spectacular. There he was, standing in the sunlight, staring at her. "...Angel?" Totally ignoring Riley, she ran using all her slayer abilities to get to her love as quickly as possible. She flipped over a group of students and landed directly in front of Angel. "I knew it, you kept the gem of Amara!" she exclaimed. As a response, Angel put his hands for her to check for the ring. Buffy didn't see the gem, but she did see his Claddaugh ring, still facing inwards. Seeing this sent pure joy through her spine. He then placed her hand over his heart. Buffy gazed into his beautiful eyes and said the line that had haunted her dreams, "I felt your heartbeat." Angel wasn't suprised that she remembered their stolen day, after all, she always keeps her promises, but he was happy just to be there with his only love. "What you did Thanksgiving made you able to help me a few days ago, didn't it?" When he nodded and smiled, she continued,"What's going on? I thought if you were human, I would die." Angel simply replied, "Hit me." She pulled back, and attempted to deliver the punch, but before it made impact, Angel threw his hand up and caught her fist. He brought her hand up to his mouth and kissed her ring that was identical to his, which was turned inward, also. It had been too long since they had seen each other, they came closer and closer until they kissed. All the passion and longing they had built up over the years exploded into that one kiss. They both had to pull away for air, but what Buffy hadn't realized was that Riley had been watching them. During the kiss, Riley had stalked over to the recently reunited couple. Even after the kiss, the two couldn't look away from the other's eyes. Riley cleared his throat, as if he was about to speak, but instead, he punched Angel squarely in the face. In turn, Buffy punched him so hard that he went flying. She then turned to Angel to make sure he was okay. He was fuming, and Buffy was sure she heard him growl.
Once she was sure he was fine, she took Angels hand, and walked over to Riley. She told him, "If I ever see you even looking at me or my lover with anything but respect, I will have an expert in the art of torture hunt you down and turn you into one of the saddest souls to ever walk this earth. You got that, Lilac?" With that, she and Angel went to catch up.
Early the next morning Giles phoned Buffy, waking Angel and her from a wonderful night of sleep in each other's arms. Buffy answered it and told Giles that she'd be at his house in a half an hour, and that she was bringing a suprise. Giles was a bit confused, but shook it off and hung up the phone. Buffy told Angel they were expected at Giles' soon, and that he should get dressed. Buffy was very thankful that Willow was at Oz's. She wanted to suprise the gang with Angel. She had already told him about how Willow and Tara were an item, but then Willow had found out it was all a spell and want back to Oz; Xander and Anya were still together and as horny as ever; Giles and Olivia were still doing the long distance thing; and Spike was still as annoying as ever. Angel told her about Doyle's death, and his battles with Darla. The two of them had never been as happy as they were then. All the fighting and sacrifices had finally paid off. They were together and they were alive. Now all they had to do was tell their friends and Buffy's family.
When they got to Giles' house, Angel stopped on the doorstep and looked Buffy straight in the eyes. He told her, "Buffy, I have lived without you for too many years; I love you more than life itself. I will fight beside you forever. Will you be my wife?"
Buffy was crying tears of joy. She was so happy that all she was able to do was nod her head, "Yes Angel! Oh, God, Yes! I love you so much." Angel was so happy; he hugged Buffy and spun her around, both pairs of eyes twinkling with happiness. Just as they were moving in for a kiss, Spike opened the door and screeched,"What the hell are you doing here, you bloody poof?! And kissing the Slayer...naughty, naughty." At this, the entire Scooby Gang, Joyce, Cordy, and Wesley gathered around the door to see who was kissing Buffy. Angel and Buffy looked at each other, Angel gave a slight nod and Buffy said,"Guess who's back for good?"
At first, everyone was a little confused; they couldn't figure out why Angel was back. The pieces came together when Anya asked,"How'd you get here Angel; the sun is up?" He said simply, "I walked with Buffy" Cordelia finally got it and exclaimed,"You fulfilled your prophecy! You're human!" It took a little while for it to sink in, but as soon as it did, everyone had questions. Buffy and Angel explained everything to the best of their ability. When the queries stopped, the most important one came from Joyce:"Are you happy with Angel, Buffy?" To this she replied, "More than you can ever know. Which is why we're engaged." There were congratulations all around as they started to discuss wedding plans.
A month later, they were getting married. Xander, Oz and Wesley were the groomsmen; Willow, Cordy, and Anya were the bridesmaids; and Giles was to walk Buffy down the aisle. The wedding was beautiful and everyone was finally happy.
And they lived happily ever after.
