"Do we really have to go down there?" Buffy asked staring down into the dark sewers.
"Yes," Angel replied. "Giles thinks there's a vamp lair down there. We have to check it out." Angel jumped down into the sewer. "Come on it's not that bad." He reached a hand up to her.
Buffy sighed reluctantly. "Oh, alright. But if any spiders, or rats, or anything icky jumps on me, you're sleeping on the couch, buddy!"
"Yikes. I hope all the creepy crawlys decided to skip town."
"Yeah, you'd better." Buffy jumped down into the hole.
Angel caught her easily and kissed her before setting her on her feet.
"Wow. That almost makes up for any buggy things we'll run into down here."
"Come on," Angel grabbed her hand and they started to walk through the dark dank tunnels. "I can believe the almighty Slayer is scared of bugs."
"I-I-I'm not *scared* of them," she lied. "I-I just don't like 'em. Did you bring the flashlight?" she asked changing the subject. "It's dark down here."
"Yeah, it's right here." He smirked as he took the flashlight out of pocket and turned it on. "Watch out for that spider and it's web," he whispered teasingly in her ear and pointed the flashlight in front of her.
"What! Where!?!" Buffy shrieked and covered her face with her hands.
Angel bit the inside of his mouth to keep from laughing, but it never worked. He doubled over in laughter.
"You jerk!" Buffy yelled at him as she hit him in the arm. "That was not funny!"
"I'm sorry, honey," Angel apologized, instantly feeling bad for teasing her. "It was just a joke. I never meant to make you mad."
"Yeah, well, you did." Buffy ranted. "You can go find the vampire layer your self, 'cause I'm going home..." She reached into his coat pocket and pulled out his keys to their apartment. "To lock you out of the apartment." With that Buffy turn on her heel and stomped down the tunnel.
"Buffy! I'm sorry." Angel turned and started after her. "Come back!"

Buffy stalked angrily toward the entrance to the sewer tunnels. *I can't believe he just did that. *I am soo pissed. He's definitely sleeping on the couch tonight,* Buffy fumed to herself, ignoring him as he called after.
Suddenly the ground beneath her feet began to shake violently and rocks and pieces of concrete fell from above her.
"What the hell?" Buffy cried as she covered her head with her hands, trying to dodge the rocks and concrete. "ANGEL!!!" she screamed, hoping he was okay.
A piece of the falling rock hit her in the back of the head, and she staggered toward the wall of the tunnel. *Angel,* she thought as she slouched to the ground. *I want Angel.* Then everything went black.

"Buffy!" Angel yelled, hearing her scream his name. He ran in the direction she had took off in, trying not to fall as the earth shook beneath him.
"Damn it!" he hissed as the quake threw him against the wall. *It's no use trying until the quake stops,* Angel thought leaning against the wall.
When the shaking finally stopped, Angel got to his feet and started in Buffy's direction, weaving his way through pulls of rock and stone.
"Buffy! Where are you?" he shouted. "Are you alright?" *Oh, god, please let her be alright.*
"Buffy!"

Buffy came to on the cold floor of the sewer with a pounding headache. She could here Angel calling her name in the distance.
"Angel," she whispered. "Angel!" she called louder so he could hear her.
"Buffy? Where are you?"
"Over here." Buffy watched as Angel ran towards her. He knelt down behind her lifted her head into his lap.
"Are you alright? Can you sit up?" he asked worriedly.
"I'm okay. I've a really big bump on the back of my head, but otherwise I'm of the good."
"Oh, I'm sorry," he said feeling the bump on her head as he tried to help her sit up.
"Ow, ow, ow! Wait." She leaned back against his chest.
"What's wrong? Did I hurt you?"
"No, but that did." Buffy pointed to a large concrete rock in her left leg. "My leg's stuck under it."
"Okay. Hold on a minute." He moved down to her legs and grabbed the edge of the concrete, ready to lift it of her. "This might hurt a little," he warned. "You ready?"
Buffy nodded and inhaled in pain when the chunk of rock of her leg.
"Good thing Jenny's spell let keep my strength," he joked. "Or we might have had a problem." He rolled up her pant leg to look at her injured leg. It was bruised and scraped, but not broken. "You got a scrape and a bruise, but that's it."
Buffy sat up rubbing her sore leg. "I hope the guys are all right."
"I'm sure they are." Angel reassured her. "Do you think you can walk or do I get to carry you?"
Buffy smiled. "As tempting as that sounds, I think I can manage to walk." She reached up a hand to him and he gently pulled her to her feet.
Buffy wrapped her arm around his shoulder and together they walked towards the ladder, with Buffy limping slightly.

Back at their apartment Buffy was sitting on the bed in her flannel pajamas, talking to Willow on the phone as she held an ice pack to her knee.
"I'm fine, Wills, really. I'm just glad you guys are okay."
"Was there much damage at your place?" Willow asked over the phone.
"Nah. Not much. Just some books out of place, stuff like that." Buffy look up when she heard Angel come out of the bathroom. He was carrying a glass of water and aspirin. She smiled at him. "I'll talk to ya tomorrow, Will. Bye." She leaned over a place the phone in it's cradle on the stand beside the bed.
Angel smiled back at her and handed her the aspirin and water. "Here." He sat on the bed beside her.
"Thanks." Buffy popped the pill in her mouth and gulped down the water. When the glass was empty, Angel took it into the kitchen. "Can you get me my hairbrush while you're up?"
"Sure." Angel walked out of the kitchen and into the bathroom to retrieve her hairbrush.
"Thanks," Buffy said reaching up her hand for the brush. "I would have got it myself but my leg still hurts."
"That's okay. Let me do it."
Buffy slid forward on the bed. Angel sat down behind and began to gently brush her silky hair, careful to avoid the bump on her head.
After a few minutes of silence Buffy asked, "How come you're so quiet tonight?"
"It's nothing," he replied and Buffy tossed him a 'yeah, right' look over her shoulder. "I feel really bad about teasing you. And when you took off and the earthquake started, I was scared I would never see you again. I feel like it's my fault you got hurt."
"Angel," she said turning to face him. "You should by now it take more then some tiny earthquake to get rid of me. And it is *NOT* your fault I got hurt. It was a little joke and I over reacted majorly."
"I'm sorry I teased you."
"And I'm sorry I over reacted." Buffy smiled. "Now don't you start brooding or it's the couch for you, buddy."
"Oh no, not the couch." Angel leaned over and kissed her gently. "I love you."
"Love you, too," Buffy said deepening the kiss as they fell backwards on the bed.
