Sheila's thoughts:

Sheila Rosenberg walked down the stairs and headed into the kitchen. Pouring herself a glass of water, she mulled over the events of the past couple of days and of last night in particular.

While Ira was still unsure of Angel and his relationship and intentions towards their only daughter, Sheila was more open to a relationship between the two of them.

While the fact that Sheila was Willow's mother meant that she naturally wanted to protect her daughter from anything that could hurt her, she also knew that she had to let Willow go out and discover things for herself. Even if that meant making mistakes.

And when Willow did feel pain and she got hurt, Sheila knew that she would be there for her daughter, giving her a shoulder to cry on and to comforting her.

But the question was, would Angel be the source of such pain?

Sheila knew that Willow cared for Angel…loved him even. Sheila had seen it in her daughter's eyes when she had talked about him and had seen how happy she was when they were together.

But Willow had been like that with Oz to a certain extent…and look how that had turned out.

~*~*~*~*~*~*~

Sheila had meet Oz briefly once when he had come to pick Willow up for a date.

He had seemed a nice enough boy when Sheila had met him, and Willow had seemed happy with him. To Sheila though, things between them had seemed…stiff. There had been no real spark between the two of them.

And although Willow had seemed happy with him, it was now clear that she was nowhere near as happy with him as she had been with Angel.

But Willow had never seemed to notice what was missing between her and Oz.However, she couldn't really be blamed.

Willow had never had a boyfriend before Oz and aside from her little 'secret' crush on Xander, she had never been interested in a boy as far as Sheila knew.

And, after a time, what she had had with Oz had died too, and he had broken up with her. It came as a complete shock to Willow. Which was just a few short weeks before Sheila had first heard of Angel.

She remembered the day Oz had broken up with Willow. She had looked up as Willow walked in through the front door, her shoulders slumped and her head bowed.

Sheila had immediately grown concerned at her daughter's behavior. She remembered how she got up, walked to Willow, and asked what was wrong; and how Willow had burst into tears right there and then in the hallway.

Sheila remembered how she guided Willow into the living room, sat her down and comforted her as she spoke of how Oz had said they shouldn't see each other anymore.

She just hoped history would not repeat itself, as this time it would be far more painful.

For Angel, unlike Oz, Willow truly loved.

~*~*~*~*~*~*~

From what she had seen of Angel, and heard from Ira and Willow he seemed a nice enough young man. A little old perhaps, but when it came to love, Sheila had found that age tended to have little say in things.

But Angel had been polite, treated them with respect and had honestly seemed to care about Willow.

And after a few chats with Willow, it was obvious how she felt about him.

Plus she was convinced that Willow wasn't being pressured into anything she wasn't ready for.

Of course, it didn't help his case that whenever Sheila had gone outside she had found them together, kissing like there was no tomorrow.

Even through the doubts she had though, she had a feeling that he might be different, that he could truly make her daughter happy.
