Part 21

She had jumped a bus, and travelled out of Sunnydale. She didn't want to have to decide. What Angel did wasn't fair, she had decided, stepping into the late night air. <<I don't know what I'm going to do.>>

"Miss?" A man asked her, "Where are you headed?"

"In town." She replied wearily. <<Why am I so worried, I mean, I'm a vampire. He can't really hurt me. Unless he's a Watcher, or something.>>

He nodded, approaching her, making her even more weary of him, "Well, you know day is arriving soon."

"I'm aware of that," She frowned. <<Angel....I need you here more than ever to protect me. He's scaring me so much...>>

"What's wrong?"

She looked up at him, "If it means anything to you, I've lost my best friend, Buffy, my ex-boyfriend William is trying to get back at Angel, who is my fiancé--and he, the one I love more in all the world, pushed me away, saying I should be with Spi-er, I mean Will'. But nothing--" A few tears few as she started rambling exhaustedly, "I'm just at wits end. Besides, I'm hungry, and I doubt there's a hosp-er, restaurant that serves good food around here anywhere."

"There's a good blood bank on Main Street," He smirked, "Willow, aren't you?"

"Excuse me?"

"The one like Angel, aren't you?"

She narrowed her eyes, "Sort of. Who are you?"

"They call me Whistler," He shrugged, "And I know your case is different. It wasn't supposed to happen this way, though, you know that?"

She hsook her head, "What do you mean?"

"Just like no one saw Buffy coming into Angel's life," He replied, "No one saw you coming into Spike's. It's changed him, in more ways than one. It's changed the timeline, too."

She became frantic, "That's all you care about? The stupid timeline? Well," Her motions became erratic, "There's a lot more at stake than--" She cou ldfeel her face changing, so she stopped, "Oops."

"You better watch that. People might worry," He shrugged, and then offered, "I have my jeep over there, you want to talk about it over a meal?"

"You a vamp--"

He hsook his head, "No, but I can get a burger."

"So," She poured the contents into a paper cup, "Do you see anything in the future now?" He eyed her, "About Spike, and Angel, I mean."

He smiled, "Can't tell you that. Then it would change."

"Well, what am I supposed to do?!"

"Think carefully. Spike has become a lovey-dovey bad guy. It could get messy."

She questioned, "Why?"

He replied, "What woul you do, if you were jealous?"

"i wouldn't do anything--"

He tried agian, so she'd understand, "When you were bad, and Drusilla challenged you--"

"Oh." <<Angel?>> No response. She felt so alone, she didn't know what to do. She just sipped her blood, as he ate his burger and fries. "I better go. Dawn's coming."

He nodded, and threw her a key, "It's for the hotel across the street."

"Why are you doing this?"

He simply smiled, "It's time to save the world."

She flopped down on the bed, sobbing hysterically. She had never felt more alone in the world, and it scared her. No one was there to hold her, and tell her things wou lbe alright. No one. Not Angel, Not Spike. Just an empty lonliness, that invaded her. <<I've got to be strong. What did he mean by saving the world?>>
