One night Angelus woke up and he didn't have a soul anymore. This was an odd occurrence, especially for one such as him. Usually his soul escaping involved a monumental spell or a once in a life-time phenomenon…..  or at least some sex.  As curious as he was, the first thing he decided to do was eat.  With his veins full of animal blood, Angelus felt thoroughly disgusted with his body and the lack of care Angel had put into. Whistling a jolly tune, he made his way down to the local park and feasted on an unlucky young couple having a
romantic dinner, and a badly dressed businessman.

After his meal he began to wonder what exactly he owed his good luck to and what he could do to make it last.  Deciding to do some research, he went back to the hotel and read up on soul curses.  He did not get very far when he heard the voices of Cordelia, Wesley and Gunn.  Irritated beyond endurance, Angelus walked up to the main desk to "re-introduce" himself to Angel's co-workers.  It was their interesting conversation that stopped him.

"I still have a hard time believing all this. I mean Willow of all people! Trying to destroy the world." Wesley sounded astonished. He and Willow had never been close friends, but he did have a great deal of respect for her.

"Tell me about it. But you know what they say, it's always the quiet ones. Xander said she's been getting really powerful over the last few years, " Cordelia said.

"Hey, anyone can turn to the dark side if they're pushed hard enough," Gunn reasoned.

"You don't know Willow. She has one of the purest hearts I know. She was always willing to do good," Wesley defended.

"Yeah, that is until she went psycho mad with power and almost annihilated the whole world," Cordelia snapped. Wesley gave her a sharp look.

"Well, she had been put through a lot.  Her parents had never been there for her, I can't imagine Buffy got any less annoying and the only person who didn't cheat on her ends up dying in her arms," Cordelia amended.

"That is harsh," Gunn agreed.

"What's going to happen to her now?" Wesley asked.

"Xander said she has to give up magic cold turkey. Giles is sending her upstate to some sort of magic re-hab place. Supposed to be all spa-like and relaxing. She'll be there for six weeks," Cordelia informed them.

"Does he have the number? We should at least call her or maybe even visit," Wesley suggested. Cordelia shook her head.

"Xander said she's not allowed any visitors. "

Angelus stood there contemplating what he had just heard. He was damn sure whatever happened to his soul was somehow connected to the person who last gave it to him before he went to Hell. He always knew that there was a fire in Willow.  It had always been a secret wish of his to be able to exploit it. The timing was perfect. She was alone and vulnerable.  ….

"Angel I didn't see you there. Did you hear about Willow? " Cordelia asked.

"It's a shame a about Willow. You know, if we can't visit her, maybe we can send her some flowers to let her know we're thinking about her and understand," Angelus suggested adding just enough concern to his voice.

"Sure. I'll call Xander and ask him for the address," Cordeila said picking up the phone.

Angelus managed to reign in his temper and overall disgust for Angel in order to act like him.  After he got the address for "New Way Rehabilitation Center" each member of Angel Investigations were lured into separate rooms, beaten, killed and then turned.  By the end of the night, Angelus was quite pleased with his new brood of childer.  Usually Angelus would have taken his fledglings and had them wreak havoc on the city.  But now was not the time; he didn't want any news reports or stories about the mass murders that would have taken place.

There should be absolutely nothing to warn Willow Rosenburg that Angelus was coming for her.

The End
