Part 16

What is it Willow?" Buffy asked, concerned.

Willow smiled at her friend,

"Nothing bad Buffy, actually its great news."

Tell us already." Xander said.

Willow's grin widened at her friend's impatience.

"I'm pregnant." She cried in joy, her hand gripping Angel's.

Angel smiled down at her as the noise of a body hitting the floor was heard. Willow looked at her friend Xander's unconscious form in concern.

"Well, that went better then I hoped." Willow observed, looking up into Angel's smirking face.

"Hmm." He said, bending down to brush her upturned lips in a brief kiss.

"You'll have to destroy it." Said a voice in the darkness of the stacks Willow looked up in surprise.

Spike stepped into the light, and made a mock salute to Willow before turning back to Angel.

"You know what's going to happen Angel, you've seen it before. If Willow's to survive you need to abort it now."

Angel hissed at Spike, vamp face in full evidence, and Willow looked between the two vampires in concern. Willow could see that Spike was upset. More then she could ever remember the British vampire ever being.

"Spike is right, always before in our history such births have been disastrous." Giles said, moving into the main library from his office.

"It's different." Angel growled despondently.

Spike raised an eyebrow,

"How Angel, because you love her?"

Willow had begun to shake her head in denial and her arms were wrapped around her womb protectively.

"NO!" Buffy yelled, walking over and drawing Willow into a protective hug, placing herself between Willow and the two men.

"I won't let you hurt Willow, and destroying her baby will do just that." Buffy said simply, hugging her friend closer as she felt Willow shaking.

The all stood for several minutes, each trying to martial their thoughts. Angel loomed protectively over Buffy and the woman who held both his heart and soul. Giles and Spike stood at opposite sides of the library, Cordelia kneeling beside the unconscious Xander, forgotten in the air of tension.

Each knew the argument that was about to begin would be long and bitter.

Buffy, Angel and Willow knew they had to win. A life counted on their eloquence.
